Name a game without wonky hitboxes. I never understood this complaint, every game I’ve played (ST, 3s, MvC3, and GG) all have some retarded hitboxes that don’t exactly synch up with the attack. The game has some funny stuff with side switching and unblockables are retarded but besides that I don’t understand. Do people expect hitboxes to be actual 4-sided boxes still nowadays?
If you’re not willing to do combos you’re either A) Deluding yourself so you feel better about not being able to do them or B) Not playing the real game and you’re going to get mad at people for not playing the same game as you.
You seem like a real nice guy. So I’m just going to post this link and not comment on it anymore.
anybody who endlessly focus absorbs fireballs is either trolling (guilty as charged) or doesnt fully understand the risks involved. if someone is absorbing everything without taking a break then rush them down, you only need to land a single jab and all that life is gone.
I actually got introduced into fighting games (at least concerning serious practice and the drive to get better) with SSF4. I had a lot of fun with it, and it was a great way to draw in a newcomer like myself. While I can certainly see why the more seasoned players would dislike it, I may not want to play a serious, deep, technical fighter all the time. It’s a nice balance, sitting between something like KoF 13 (very technical) and SFxT (Too many safe moves). Yes the Ultras being your reward for having the crap kicked out of you doesn’t make a whole lot of sense compared to the older fighting games, where you had to work for your victory. I respect 3rd Strike and KoF for its technical prowess, but I may not want to play something that demanding all the time. Much like MMOs, I feel like Capcom was trying to appeal to a larger audience and make things easier to make do and easier to play.
But hey, with XBLA and PSN, we have access to these updated classics at any time. And that’s fine too. Options are never a bad thing after all. And the more options there are, the better. At least that’s what I think.
I keep forgetting they exist in SFxT! I got too frustrated with missing my cross-up (or it connecting) and my opponent simply mashes out jab chain into launcher for a free punish, so it’s been shelved for now. I could count on one hand how many times I’ve seen someone use an Alpha Counter.
I pretty much play AE because thats where the competition is. I like a lot of older games, but why waste my time playing games that are obsolete? My favorite games are CVS2 and Alpha 2, but I don’t hate 2012 for not being those games.
I hate vortexes. To me its basically saying “ill play you till I knock you down, now I just OS a sequence post knockdown and win”. I love the mind games and neutral game. Vortex really spits on that and spits on what makes sf a fun competitive game.
I hated a lot of changes after super, especially blatantly netting defensive characters, but giving rushdown characters a lot of options. Sfiv is already a game where good defensive reads are hardly worth it, but you make good defense even worse?
Spacing and zoning is whack in this game. Why waste your time when you can get a character with 9 ways to jump at you, and do 400 meterless damage Plus stun you? On and get a ridiculous 50/50 for basically being stupid?
Why play footsies when there is rarely any penalty for just jumping at someone from mid range? He throw out a mid range poke and thry jump in I eat a 350 damage combo. I jump back fierce their ass I only get 100 pts of damage.
I personally like sfxt more because you can be punishes for doing stupid stuff like jumping. I like playing a neutral game more, and i lije shaving off 350 pts of your life for jumping at me.
Sfxt and sfiv both are stupid for jab confirms. I can’t stand it in either games. I wish people would be forced to have real reactions in order to confirm.
Timing is initially strict on ACs. But you can get use to it. Unfortunately a lot if people don’t practice it. As a former Alpha 2 player i was abusing them day one.
Too bad Capcom bad marketing and poor decisions is killing what I feel is a superior game.
and i hate throws in this game. i hate how you can grab people from a preposterous distance and that throw cancels out normals from your opponent when their animations have already started up.
i was beating people i wasn’t supposed to beat while using Vega, a character i haven’t touched since hyper fighting, using one single button. the throw button. the game’s a joke.
