I’ve been using N-Maki/Raiden/Hibiki2, but I’ve recently decided to switch to K-Groove (recently as yesterday) to make them all more dangerous.
Quite frankly, everyone can use Cammy, Blanka, Sagat, Bison, Akuma, etc, all the want, but the fact is everyone on the face of the earth knows the tactics that these characters are going to use.
On the other hand, if you see someone using Vice, Raiden, Nakoruru or Yun, you probably won’t have a 100% understanding of their moves, let alone the strategy that they’ll use with them.
I choose not to use the so-called “cheap” or “top-tier” characters, because I want to show everyone that I’m a better CvS2 player based on my skills, and not based on my choice of character. Basically, every time I beat or barely lose to someone who uses Cammy, Sagat and Blanka using my characters, I know I’m a greater player than the person who uses those types of characters, since they rely on move priority to squash their opponents rather than actual skill.
“It’s okay, as long as they win,” you’re thinking. It’s okay for them. The fact is, it’s a hell of a lot more interesting to watch a Maki-Vice matchup than it is to watch a Sagat-Sagat one. If people don’t start using the other characters, the game will start to get boring. I bet many people don’t even give half of the characters a second thought and just stick with who everyone else uses.
Heh, got carried away. Basically, I’m trying to say that if you’re going to make a team, pick someone that’s going to give the other guy a hard time because they don’t know what’s coming. Everyone knows what’s coming with Sagat or Cammy. No one knows what’s coming with Maki or Raiden. You can gain an immediate advantage just by using an uncommon character.
