Yeah. Don’t get me wrong. Maybe I can phrase it more carefully. I’m sure SBO is nice and much better than nothing, and if Evo turned into the SBO format it would still be much better than nothing. But Evo like it is its much better for the players because of all the aforementioned reasons IMO.
Up until the final 32, SBO is a 32-elimination style tournament, which I think is pretty good odds, all things considered.
You keep playing in the regular season for your shot at the playoffs, and once you get it, it’s all or nothing from that point on.
That’s true. There’s a LOT of time and chances to qualify for SBO so it’s not just everyone playing each other dry to figure out who has the best team.
Power I hear what you’re saying. I personally prefer the way Evo runs things myself. I really like to play in teams but there’s just something about seeing how well you perform by yourself that is just interesting for me. Ninjas like to work alone I guess. I wish 3rd Strike could have been 2/3 matches this year for Evo but then again…seeing the character that I use the one match thing was probably more of an advantage for me than anything. I was probably the only person I knew who wasn’t complaining about the single match setup. Especially when they reset the brackets for semis. Just gonna train up hard so I can take 2 matches from everyone next year.
i too would like to know what spineless asshole wrote this. why not identify yourself? wiz does a great service to the community by running evo every year, and keeping this site up and running, this site that allows you to make your cowardly and despicable comments in secret.
This went from “what you get” to “why you get” really quick, and then it turned into the “JPN single elim sucks”. This topic has been done to death. You like the US style, play US style with the games the US plays with the system currently in place. You like JPN style, do the same for JPN. You want to break the mold? MAN UP AND GET PEOPLE TO FOLLOW YOU RATHER THAN CRYING ON FGD.
