What do players value in a fighting game?

i’m interested in how important certain aspects in a fighting game are to it’s playerbase

do players think air combos are important?

how about just frame blocks and cancels?

how expansive do you think a character’s movepool should be?

do you think well rounded characters are better?

or do you prefer characters with heavy strengths and weaknesses?

anything else you’d like to add to a response would be interesting.

It has to be good. Or fun. Preferably both.

Depends.

Not really for me.

However many they need so that they each have their own “flavor.”

Not if it ends up homogenizing the cast.

As long as every character is usable in some fashion, and not redundant or just a wasted spot on the roster, then whatever.

It really varies depending on the player.

are you from MIT?

I want to play as cool characters, men, women, trans, alien, morphing things, anything I can relate to as a extension of myself on screen destroying other cool looking characters. A cool story is great like the Guilty Gear story, but the gameplay is whats key. The moves have to be awesome to pull off as well as look great on screen.

I enjoy the mind games and tricks you can pull off

Diversity in game play and emotional and mental games.

Please read the FGD rules that are posted in this forum. If you want to PM me explaining why your thread needs a special exemption, please do so. But generally let’s stick to talking about fighting games as opposed to doing random surveys.
