What DLC character don't you want to see?

Stanley - I think the idea of a shark scientist is neat, but his gameplay sounds bad. Also doesn’t fit in with the cast.
Hubrecht - a joke character AND a classic grappler? What an annoying combo.
Andy - literally part of another character and looks stupid
Yu Wan - doesn’t seem to have much thought in it. Why are there 3 fish characters to choose from?
Adam - You have to wait for an anchor character to have the best abilities? Wtf. Again, he’s just part of another character.
Isaac - I don’t dislike Isaac, just that Aeon makes him obsolete.

I’d be the most disappointed with Hubrecht.

How is Adam a part of another character?

In the skullgirls universe we are presented with 4 entities in the original game. Humans, parasites, dagonians (which are the sentient fish) and the celestial eldritch beings.

There are actually 4 fish characters. Ottomo isn’t a robot. Ottomo is a pint sized Dagonian who uses a power armored suit.

The universe is going to expand to introduce atleast one more type of entity. Scythana is a half breed of a race of Giants. Originally she was supposed to be so big Panzerfaust would look small next to her but Mike’s changing his mind on that and only restricting her massive size advantage to blockbusters.

You had something of a point with Andy (moreso with his design being stupid) but Adam isn’t represented directly in Parasoul’s attacks. He’s only seen in storyboard scenes like Panzerfaust, Roxy and Mollie.

Also you are downplaying the dynamics of the character. You can’t get him directly while the other red shirt Egrets are active but with those characters you get access to DHCs and alpha counters even when you are ratio one. We don’t know how vanilla they will be compared to the rest of the cast but it’s a very neat dynamic .

What about the cat people, living weapons (IE Cerebellas hat) and the living anvils/tons/cartoon birds?

Forgetting about Fortune was a brainfart. I wouldn’t consider the other beings mentioned as valid because they are all something that is implied to have been engineered in some manner.

Panzerfaust and D. Violet don’t really speak to me. I think I’d be fine with anyone else on the list.

It’s permissible to like a game but dislike certain things about it. If you have a chance to offset those things, why not take it?

Putting aside the judgmental bent of this argument for the moment… given the backstory and storymode data about these characters, do they sound like the kind of characters who would do that? Or is it more likely that this is an inconsistency stemming from things as they have been made to be?

Personally, everything that excites me about Aeon is stuff that doesn’t involve “scrapped moves”. Even the “counterfactual attack” idea, I see as more like… use alternate-timeline Christmas to attack Valentine, or the Fishbone Gang against Fortune.

Well that was an interesting look into the mind of a (granted, rather progressive) feminist who inevitably finds exactly what she is looking for.
Time well spent.

Not that it should matter, but just for the record: the author is male.

I knew that.
That was me being progressive.

Being a feminist doesn’t require a vagina.

Even though it’s too late, I also don’t like the idea of Robo Ms. Fortune. There are way cooler characters to pick from.

Except that she will cost much less to create than a totally new character, so it’s not as though you could have had another in the same situation.

I have a sinking (get it?) feeling that Stanley is going to win the first poll, despite the fact that he probably has the most boring gameplay description of anyone in the cast.

Other characters that also sound pretty generic to me are Annie, Ottomo, Hubrecht, Yu-Wan, Scythana. I don’t care about aesthetics very much, I just look over that character list and there are so many sick ideas, I feel it would be a waste to vote in just another shoto/rushdown/big guy type character.

How will she cost less? She’s not a palette swap of Fortune. She’s a completely new character with a completely different sprite set, unless I’m missing something. On Salty Cupcakes, he said he was originally going to make her like “old Robo-Ky”, which is just a reskin of Ky basically, but then he said he decided to make her like “AC Robo-Ky”, which is a new character entirely. They even described her gameplay concept on the stream (heavy pokes, head becomes a stationary turret shooting projectiles with fierce punch, can block projectiles without chipping her, etc). I’d figure she’ll cost the same to create as a normal character. She’s even getting her own stage and story mode.

Lab0 already said that they would tweak/reuse some of Ms Fortune’s moves and animations. Robo-Fortune will def have some unique moves and a completely different playstyle , but she’s going to borrow a bit from Nadia.

Seth also had Guiles sonic boom, a shoryuken that knocked people almost a full screen away, and super low health, almost forcing him to zone.

1. Andy Anvil
Whenever he appeared during my hunt for Peacock’s summon move trophy, I found myself muttering: “Jag hatar det där jävla städet… jävla sär…” (“I hate that damn anvil… damn ‘special case’…”)

2. D. Violet
Dominatrices never appealed to me, and I feel her design is pushing the envelope, even for this franchise. The “curse” mechanic seems interesting, but may just as well be given to a different character.

3. Scythana
You may accuse me of being insecure and disliking strong women (see D. Violet), but I find her design bland (and somehow reminiscent of Bazoo from The Rumble Fish 2).

4. Hive
In short, I loathe bees and flight-based characters (except for Trish).

Finally, I am frankly a bit surprised by the popularity of Feng (a rather bog-standard kung-fu girl), Umbrella (character recognition? we already have a sentient umbrella and a parasite with teeth) and Marie (boring boss-made-playable, and Peacock and Parasoul fit the “summon-based character” bill well enough).

Umbrella
I generally find kid characters obnoxious and Umbrella was a royal pain in the ass in Parasoul’s story. I don’t want to play some brat. Not to mention we already have an umbrella user. I don’t care to have two.

Mrs. Victoria
Her gameplay concept sounds like nothing but pure fighting game fan service with no originality. One of Skullgirls’ biggest assets to me is its quirky design and originality so I really don’t want to see a copy character who just apes moves from other games.

Feng
Remember what I just said about Skullgirls’ originality being one of it’s strong suits? Well, with that in mind why in god’s name would I want a slot wasted on one of the most common, cliche character archetypes in fighting games period? Just because every other fighter has a token anime Chinese girl doesn’t mean Skullgirls has to.

Andy
He’s already part of Peacock’s move list and he makes sense only really in that context. Without Peacock calling the shots he just looks dumb.

Minette
She’s not a fighter so I don’t want her padding a small roster. With the exception of Phoenix Wright, I don’t like the idea of non-combatants being playable in fighters. I never liked using Roll for example.

Venus & Aeon
Aeon looks dull, I dislike Venus’ look immensely and their proposed gameplay sounds unimpressive. Aeon sounds too much like Double and we have enough grotesque characters that Venus isn’t really needed. That aside these two are supposedly gods or something. Sounds like boss material for a future installment maybe. Save them for a sequel if at all. I still don’t like the designs either way.

Samson
Samson already has his time to shine as Filia’s parasite. There’s really nothing to gain by going this route. Besides, Panzerfaust and Hubrecht are more compelling “Big Guy” designs than this.

These are the characters I flat out don’t want to see. Everybody else runs the gamut from “indifferent” to “I voted for that person”.

.

Whoops. Wrong thread.
