So out of those 10 options, why did you make 7 of them Third Strike Characters, and then one of them a chracter that hasn’t even been playable in any game.
I’m not trying to be an asshole or anything, but the game just came out on console. Let’s enjoy what has been presented to us now, before we start going and asking for more.
Does it matter which ones are up there? You still have the ability to post whatever you want.
The Poll Only allows 10 options, there’s way more characters than that by far. I put third strike because there’s already some alpha series characters in the game, I put Geki because Gouken wasn’t playable either. They seem to be making new characters & bringing characters from the story into the game so why not.
It’s probable that they are going to add new characters, read the link below & you will understand why I posted this… I doubt they would just add 2 new characters.
I agree in full. I tried posting a similar comment yesterday when the thread just showed up… but SRK was too busy to accept it. Alas.
For a lot of us, the game hasn’t even been in our consoles for 48 hours. Sure, I’d love to see Guy, Ibuki, Adon, and so on in a future release, but I’d actually prefer more original characters. More importantly, though… I want to learn the characters I have access to, and that’s gonna take a while.
Edit: FYI… Multiquote (which is right next to the quote button) is amazing. Helps prevent triple posting.
From what it sounds like, there’s going to be an update in the near future that is going to add some new characters. This post was not intended to discourage anyone from learning the characters they already have access to. By all means learn the game at whatever pace you must. Most of us are still learning the game.
On the other hand I doubt capcom will wait until we personally learn the game for them to add some more characters. So the whole purpose of this post is more of a wish list. So looking ahead, If there is any possibility that we can influence who they will add into the upcoming version, then I think people within the community would appreciate their voice being heard.
Capcoms decisions seems like they are based on fan pupularity to a degree. Hard Core & Casual.
It’s kind of like the NBA draft… When Chicago Bulls had Jordan their popularity grew and was at its prime during the championships in the mid 90’s. Once Jordan left, their fan base declined somewhat. It’s the same thing with these games, each game is like a NBA team and each team has individual players that are the superstars & develop a fan base. SF4 was succesful because they took some of the top players from the Alpha series & SF 1 & 2 series and brought their fan base along with them. Take in mind that there’s still some games/teams that they haven’t selected top players from that also have followings & there’s also the first draft picks of getting more new characters.
Whatever Capcom decides will also influence our SF4 community.
If they add more SF1 characters it could pull in more intrest & bring people to the game from the general public community that played that game.
If they add the remainder of the SF2 players they will bring in the Deejay & Thawk fan part of the community.
If they add more alpha characters they may please the alpha series fan base more.
If they put in 3rd strike characters they are tapping into pleasing a fan base they haven’t put any top characters in SF4 yet.
I don’t even know if any one really plays SF EX series seriously…
I would maybe ask this.
Which top characters will bring the largest fan base?
Will that character bring in a larger fan base than that of another game?
What characters/game have a solid & long term following?
What game following has the most competetive/long lasting players? Or the largest base of competetive players?
Are people more excited in New or bringing in Existing characters?
That would maybe address how big of an incremental community Capcom could create, but more importantly take in mind the longevity of the members it brings in. quality & quantity
It’s natural that as the years go on the community shrinks somwhat to the majority being dedicated players like any other game. So from whatever characters/games Capcom picks from will influence who those are.
I’m just trying to keep my support and involvement in perspective beyond just training mode in SF4 right now. But on a larger scope.
Based on my experience in the business world, i’d say this… Let your voice be heard early on and let it build momentum. It may not be loud enough if you wait until last minute. and from what it sounds like, this update is in the near future.
