What can Capcom's SFV learn from NRS's Mortal Kombat X

Wow…well damn can’t argue with those results.

I’ll argue with MK:X’s stiff-ass animations all day, though.

Last time I bought a game because it sold really well was like…never

While I haven’t played KOH on MKX, I played it on MK9 and all it was was a laggy ass Endless Battle where you can throw tomatoes at the screen. Is it any different on MKX?

People get offended with too much sexuality but are perfectly fine with beheadings, slicing up people to bits, and punching nuts so hard the eyes/head pop off?

Fuccbois

There is a difference between sexual objectification (which is what is being referred to here) and sexuality. If you can’t see it, then you have bigger problems then beheadings.

Not sure why sexuality offends so many people. Stop being pansies.

Seriously though, MKX has a lot of vulgar content, sexual objectification being one of them. It’s the name of the game. No different than Japanese designers making Juri shoeless to please the weird foot fetish guys out there. It’s honestly all the same, the only difference is Kitana’s attire being more bluntly sexual than Juri’s. Capcom is just a bit sneakier with it is all.

You, along with many other people who quoted my post, confuse sexuality and sexism.
I love sexuality like every other human being. Sexism offends me.
Let us have some old, ugly woman for example, like Gen in males. No, we won’t.
Or let us have some male char with only a tanga, who touches his bulk or gives sexy poses on the floor like Poison, Mika. No we won’t.
Instead we will see a mother exposing her breasts in her win-pose or a girl fighting with her ass.
If this objectification was not only towards female chars, noone would be offended, because it wouldn’t be sexist then.

Like I said, don’t confuse sexuality with sexism. Being against sexuality would be the last thing for me as I’m like the most anti-conservative person on earth.

Of course MKX didn’t eliminate these problems. It just reduced them. Compare MKX Kitana with her former appearances.

What grown ass man do you expect to see rolling around on the floor like Poison? Especially one that beats people for a living? More importantly, who wants to see that? Lol, you’re getting carried away dude.

If you’re saying women in SF games are stereotypical, I present you Guile. I present you Dee Jay.

Biologically, women are designed to be more attaractive than men. Men are designed to naturally possess more physical capabilities than women. Our biological differences often lead to social constructions I understand, and these constructions aren’t always a bad thing. Sometimes they are, of course, when the media places unnatural standards of beauty upon women, and expects all men to be 6’5 greek athletes. Not all women are VS models and not all men are pro athletes, but I see no complaints when the coin is flipped. It tooks years for a fat, out of shape male to hit SF. Decades (Rufus). So give it time and you’ll eventually see a brute woman in SF, since that’s what you all seem to want.

The things the average woman does and wear to exude sex appeal or look attractive to the opposite sex are different from what a man does and wear to look appealing to a woman. Why can’t people accept this? I’ll give you the old woman example. I’d like to see a elderly female badass in a fighter. But do you think the majority would actually want to see characters like Ryu in a outfit that reveals his butt in provocative poses? No and it would been seen as more comical than sexy because you just can’t sexualize the average man in such a manner. It doesn’t work… Most want to see male characters ripped and what not. And that’s what devs give people. I.E Ryu with his ripped Gi alt. You se all his abs and biceps and what not. But that’s not sexualizing him because men with muscles and a well toned physique are deemed a power fantasy.

So I guess if we’re gonna sexualize a male character you have to go the “trap” route with characters like Ash Crimson, or Bridget or more feminine looking dudes like Remy and Vega. Hmm, funny how in order to sexualize a man you gotta make him more feminine and to make a woman strong you make her more masculine. Guess the female form is just looks more appealing by default, where as the male form looks more tough by default. Any who lets wrap this discussion up because we shouldn’t derail the thread with this.

All this sexuality/sexism talk is off topic, quit it.

@Gross_Indecency started it.

Excuse me?

He said coolest, he didn’t say awesomest or most beautiful.

Where’s the elemental powers? Demon hellspawn? telekinetic powers? This guy is too vanilla.

That being said, I can forgive him.

That’s his boss. Vega needs only beauty, and Hannibal Lecter levels of sociopathy to pwn.

What Capcom can learn from NRS is mainly just how to build a quality single-player experience.

A real Story Mode.

A ton of Unlockable content.

King of the Hill multiplayer system.

Unique intros with every character.

Capcom should be doing all of this with SFV.

I didn’t ask for your forgiveness.

His face in SFV is horrible, nothing beautiful there. Can’t wait for the paper bag DLC for Vega.
