graplers in general I hate them
I have no objection to hating on Cody either, he just wasnāt addressed.
akuma was never sposed to have killed gen
Of course not, Gen already emptied his soul before Akuma tried to crush with the Shun Goku Satsu. I was only making a joke out of Akumaās move.
Charge.

Yeah, I donāt like boring nigh-invincible guys either. Itās why Fist of the North Star (the anime, not the fighting game) nearly put me to sleep when I watched it. x__x But my dislike for them is primarily outside of fighting games.
Gameplay-wise, I donāt like charge characters too much, outside of Ash Crimson.
All or nothing characters. Mostly this applies to the old-school grappler archetype. The problem is, itās almost impossible to balance these guys. Yeah, if I zone you for 80 seconds perfectly you get completely shut down. If you make a good read, or more likely I just mis-type an anti-air or something by a couple frames you get in and kill me. Itās a tedious match for both players and I usually feel bad when I win and cheated when I lose. I donāt mind quasi-grapplers, but the all or nothing, get in or lose types are bad design IMO.
Along a similar process, the I kill you in one combo and/or vortex characters. Same deal. Sometimes thereās a back and forth fight, but mostly your character is goofy and is either doing a ream of unsafe shit or just random shit, but hey, you landed that one hit and now itās TOD combo or keep guessing over and over. Dumb.
Honorable mention to safe-ish offense characters. This applies to dive characters, mostly safe-poke characters (ex. Fei Long), etc. Them being able to constantly do almost non-stop, mostly safe moves but once it sticks BAM! Big damage! Kinda lame.
In general, I like when the match involves some footsies, some control of space, some thinking, some moments where thereās a chance for big damage but thatās weighed against being vulnerable to a big punish if it fails. I like some thinking. But the characters and game systems that lead to guessing games and/or the slippery slope style oops, you goofed now your dead donāt feel as satisfying, win or lose, IMO.
EDIT: Fuck bad net-code, but also double fuck characters that work way better in lag in games that have dodgy net-code.
Personality wise, it would have to be the badass ārebel of authorityā protagonists( example: Sol Badguy, Ragna, etc.).
I usually tend to be on the side of the opposite character persona archetype from them (ex: Ky Kiske, Jin)
Now, gameplay wise it depends.
For the most part, Iām not a big fan of grapplers in 2d fighters, especially in most Street Fighters. Now when it comes to 2d fighters with a fast pace like Kof or 3s where grapplers can be more aggressive I love them. Grapplers ussually end up being my mains in 3d fighters, and in Kof games and other games with a fast pace.
Are you trolling?
Why?
I mean what purpose would you have to choose a side in a video game? Trying to understand why liking one character would make you dislike the otherā¦
Isnāt Ash Crimson supposed to be some uber powerful person that can steal your powers and then use them in some effortless fashion? That is like the epitome of boring nigh invincible. Look at me I donāt have to try. And to top it off the play style is a clone of a clone that represents the basic form of the charge style you dislike apparently.
Charge characters, since I find them difficult to time and use.
Apologetic attackers. If you donāt want to fight then donāt. If you know you canāt fight then donāt. Iām okay with it as a starting point for character development i:e they cant get away from one in a game, but they better end it a bad@$$, because if they donāt they should either be a)retired, as they managed to get out of the situation in the first place or b) dead, because they apparently never learned to defend themselves and yet have the bad luck to keep landing in those bad situations. For example pyhrra gets a one game pass, but if she comes into the next game without some confidence it would be unrealistic.
Also on the flip side of the same coin, the character who can back it up but doesnt want to yet has no choice(usually mind control). For example Alisa. But at least she has the robot excuse, for the purely brainwashed side, if you are capable of apologizing and recognizing what your doing is wrong, you should be able to stop yourself from doing it. Unless your a robot or so brainwashed you have no idea what you are doing is wrong(and thus not apologizing) there is no excuse
For a positive side as an example Bishamon and Zappa. They are controlled by outside forces, but Bishamon never stops fighting and eventually escapes, and when he did attack others, he had no control. Zappa has no clue what is happening, so he only apologizes when everything is done, and takes actual action to stop whatever it is from happening.
I really hate Shotoās for a variety of reasons. Itās the same character every time. Itās either a guy whoās dedicated his life to whatever martial art and heās out to prove heās the best, and then thereās the mentor and Akuma stereotype. And they play almost exactly alike in every game except in this iteration they might have one different special or a Dive Kick of some kind.*
Plus the fact that every mouth-breathing retard flocks to shoto characters and mashes buttons online certainly doesnāt help. Iāve had enough of dumb and bland shoto characters.
And it also pisses me off that SNKP had the opportunity to add Whip in KOF 13, but no they went with Kula, an easy as shit Shoto character. Whereas Whip plays like an entirely different comparatively and is wholly unique.
*I will say that Kā from KOF gets a pass because to their credit SNK did make him feel like a different kind of Shoto.
A little nonsense now and then is cherished by the wisest men
Iām sorry you had to see that Skyler
Ash is Remy with traps. Remy is Charlie with a qcb Kick. Charlie is Guile with glasses. Guile is the definitive charge character.
The reason Dan is funny is because hes a parody of SNK/Art of Fighting and Capcom itself times a bajillion. If Dan was just ālol goofy shoto!!ā then he wouldnāt be very funny to me either.
Arnt you forgetting the non zoning ones such as the Shadaloo Trio?
Hisui would like a word with you.
Honestly, I like every archtype, if done right.
I enjoy Hazamaās and Arcās āIām not fighting seriousā lines, but thatās just me.
Hibiki was the epitome of āApologetic Attackerā and who the hell doesnāt love Hibiki?
All or nothing characters (Half Moon White Len, Makoto) are fun to finally get down, because itās more about āreadsā and not guessing.
Iām not a fan of the obvious mascot characters. I feel like theyāre usually really bland personailty-wise compared to the rest of the cast. And they usually end up being really popular.
I donāt care much for intentionally bad joke characters either. Joke characters are fine, but when I see a character thatās bad on purpose, I just canāt help but think about how an actual good character could have been in their spot.
