What are your least favorite character archetypes?

I agree, The Satsui no Hado made Street Fighter a bit shit with Demons and teleportations. Then you have Oni…Why is he even in the game? I’d rather have someone else from 3S like Q

There is a distinct lack of hydros in fighting games. We have, off the top of my head:

• Rikuo/Aulbath from Darkstalkers
• May (to an extent) from Guilty Gear
• Sogetsu and Suijin from Samurai Shodown
• Rain from Mortal Kombat
• Okina from Last Blade
• N’Doul from JoJo’s, but doesn’t really count

Compared to the countless pyro characters. It may not be as flashy as fire, but water could be a fun element to work with in a character’s moveset. Not sure why it’s not played with more to be honest.

You know, I couldn’t help but notice Duo Lon’s name in your signature. =P

But but… fire characters are more badass

Never said I-NO was the only abuser in that game, just the one I butted my head against the most before giving up on anything but vs mode.

I have a hard time using Turtles/Charge characters.

Characters that are designed to be overly cool, and how their lines and attitudes often revolve in them being obnoxiously cocky, spitting out brainless remarks and insulting the villains with lame puns. I understand people create them to attract more audience to their products, but good grief this type is so common these days that is kind of irritating. Characters like these really reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons about the Poochie dog.

Also, I kind of agree with the poster who said that characters like Morrigan and Juri are overly sexy. Not so much on Juri, but I miss the time when Capcom didn’t emphasize Morrigan’s slutty side so much. The same applies for every other character that falls on that type.

You know, any character can turtle, and charge characters are capable of applying pressure.

Ay yo, fuck female fighters that have big hips/butts but never think it to use that to their advantage. Chun, Zafina, Elena, Lien; all have asses they don’t know what do to with.

I’m not saying just throw it out there Mika-style, but if you’re packing all that weight around the hips, you can use that to put weight on something or prevent movement. For example, one of Asuka’s side throws has her putting her weight on the opponent’s leg then bending it in a direction it shouldn’t go.

Character that have low health, and in exchange get everything from the menu, and more, ( Akuma, Seth…). Or are just stupid like Dark phoenix.

My favorite types are akward characters, that don’t really fit any specific archetype although these are quite few in number

Japan loves their fire. Every complaint people have here is because of what is successful. People are sheep so they’ll copy whatever everyone else they like is doing. Most FGs people play are Japanese. Hence you get an excessive amount of several archetypes both in appearance and play style. Face it, there’s just too much of the popular ideas out there. SRK is proof that a lot of people hate what’s different. People feel safe with seeing the same damn thing over and over and over.

I wouldn’t mind a game where each character has an individual “element,” especially since it promotes visual diversity.

Though it’s official art, maybe the sprites didn’t follow suit until a little later.

SF4 model is definitely a flat ass though.

The Juri hate is silly and one of the last archetypes – that is, convincingly sadistic female fighter – deserving of it.

The entire GG series in general had an utterly broken story mode, it was basically designed to suck quarters out of people in the arcade actually attempting to beat it…

I think she would have been passable if Capcom didn’t completely fucking drop the ball with her voice actresses and if they were a tad more subtle with her personality.

Maybe I’m more lenient to Juri’s character design since I really wanted a female villain in street fighter’s world. Though I agree she didn’t need to be sexual either but that seems to be the female vilian archetype. Either their femmel fatal(I-no) or obedient dolls(Mu).

why people hate Juri’s Voice actor? it really seems appropriated for her persona, however her lines can be polished.

Back to topic, if talking gameplay wise than I’ll have to say I dislike “Glass cannon” like characters (V-13, Pheonix). The concept it self isn’t bad but rarly perfected. If a character has the tools for anything than they normally can offset the cons effortlessly. Eventually the other archetype “jack of all trades”(Jin, Ryu) looses all values because their counterpart praticalally overshadowing their other aspect.

But Juri is awesome. :frowning:

Are you serious?
Morrigan’s old official alternate costume was a dominatrix suit.
The intro and alt ending scroll in Vampire Savior was her and Lilith naked. The intro of Darkstalkers was her naked.
Her ending in VS was shoving Lilith right into her cleavage. She’s thinner than what her sprite was overall for slutty aesthetics.
While her winposes were mostly change into party girl in tight clothing of random clique or pose seductively before she was fused with Lilith.
If anything, they kinda retcon’d all that.
MvC3 = Lets have an exquisite time. TvC/MvC1 = “Bored now. Wanna play Puzzle Fighter or fuck? I prefer Puzzle Fighter but only slightly.”

I like Juri. She’s a Street Fighter character that wasn’t designed with just her fighting style in mind, so she has personality beyond it. She also doesn’t feel nearly as out of place as Crimson Viper.

It’s rare that a character with high health will be at the top of the tier list, unless everything he has is good (SF4 Sagat).

I agree if we’re talking about the Japanese voice actor. The English one, though, is perfect. But alas, voices are one of those subjective things. Take my avatar. AWESOME voice. Also hated by many.
