I have a better question. What does it say about someone who continuously complains about various other characters’ BS, yet mains a character that has plenty of it himself? I mean looking at who you play in SF4 and KOFXIII, it seems you have NP dishing out BS but have problems taking it.
There certainly is a slot machine factor to Akuma when you are knocked down, or when you have him in the corner (teleport). However it isn’t just Fuerte he complains about. Gen, Sakura, Ibuki, Cammy, Viper, Yun, etc. as well.
Established whining habits, most people just kind of tune those moments out these days…like how his character defines SF…or sorta like how certain Cody/Yang/Oni users insist they’re terrible characters…or how I think low health/stun matter…or how some users think set ups ruin the game…or how x character doesn’t play stuhreet fighta…or how Otori is going to flag this…
Aren´t ELF mixups compared to Akuma rather unsafe and yet less rewarding than Akuma´s btw? Also having a “strong toolset” doesn´t mean that the char will be free of “bullshit”.
You skipped the “built around” part. Random bullshit is almost literally all Fuerte has. Akuma is still capable of playing a solid game outside of his oki shenanigans.
Note the second part of my post. Gen built around BS, that’s all he has? He complains about just about any character that has a hint of BS, even though his character has a heavy dose of it.
Uh, multiple people in the thread have stated that it’s one of their favourite matches to watch (like me, for example)?
As someone said earlier, Sim-Sagat is like watching a dance.
I really truly hate only two characters in this game: Elf and Seth. Okay, maybe include Cammy in that especially when the player autopilots a ton.
The Gen complaints were largely overexposure combined with Xian’s style and the needs of the Cammy-Gen matchup on both sides. As a character, he’s fine, as are the rest of the list (doesn’t mean they’re perfect).
Yup, they are. He just has an easier time initiating them. Agreed on the second.
I picked Akuma because he’s a shoto and he walks fast. That’s literally it. Please find where I said BS is all Gen has.
Sorry to come down on you, but you did insult all Fuerte players in your initial statement. Everyone has different tastes as to what they find appealing/unappealing, but saying something like…
is fairly insulting.
What if the Fuerte player grew up watching luchadors and are huge fans of luche libre? El Fuerte captures them well, with being constantly in motion, high flying, hyperactive.
What if the Fuerte player is a young kid before the age of being obsessed with boobs (so the females don’t appeal to them), and not really relating to one of the steroid super muscle males? What if they relate to Fuerte cause it is a little guy like themselves who looks like he is having a ton of fun?
I doubt anyone picks Fuerte just to destroy the integrity of the game.
I like watching almost any combination of the ST cast (minus Cammy because she’s derp in SF4 and Hawk for just being the worst character design ever conceived) - you have really strong archetypes among those characters and they’re not so reliant on guessing game bs like newer characters such as Viper, Seth and Fuerte.
Not necessarily a match-up but I have always enjoyed watching strong Claw players. I don’t even particularly like the character but seeing people succeed with him is exciting.
Another matchup that I forgot to mention was Seth vs Vega, their mobility options, combos and overall pace of the match makes this matchup a joy to watch, surprisingly.
Gen - Juri is probably my favorite matchup in the game. It’s fun watching Juri try to shut him out and Gen trying to slip past. Plus, both characters are more than capable of explosive offense, so the game is often a careful, methodical game of zoning and poking punctuated by these huge, explosive exchanges.
As a former Ken main, the Ken - Zangief match was always my favorite. It was a good opportunity to slow down, play more thoughtfully, and really mind my fundamentals, which I always liked, even though it at times made me feel like I was playing the wrong character. On an entirely related note, I’m learning Dhalsim and Dee Jay now.
