What are the most unfair AI's in a game you played?

That Dead or Alive 4

to this day i still remember playing survival mode in x-men vs street fighter ex on ps1.
xvsf on ps1 was a one on one game. your partner were only there for tag combos and alpha counters.

i think i beat like 30+ opponents against the computer and i forgot who the computer used at the 30 something odd games, but had sabretooth as its partner.

the computer alpha countered against me, i blocked tooths berserker claw and then out of nowhere, he cancelled the berseker claw into a walk up grab!

that was the biggest WTF moment.

MK2 and UMK3. Although, MK2 wasn’t that hard once you learned to pattern the AI with Kitana. The AI in UMK3 is what put me off learning the game.

Cammy, Dee Jay and Fei Long in ST have the most godlike footsies and reactions. Cammy does stuff like magic jumps, safe jumps, whiff punishing and poke baiting all day. Seems like many of the chars were modelled off the styles of real players but then just tweaked to the point where they rarely made obvious mistakes when they were up close.

Just like what most of the people are saying in here…
MK2 and UMK3 AI are really hard for me.

First time I managed to beat him, I picked Kim and did nothing but j.Fierce. Somehow it beat everything the CPU tried.

I was able to do the same abusing regular Rugal’s dark smash.

I think pretty much all snk games before 96 had ridiculous AI

myself i would probably have to say ss5 sp, especially certain chracters like enja suija and gedo, wtf gedo cancels DF D into another df D wave dashing across the screen and grabbing you for 40% life, all the time you cannot cancel df d into another df d even, enja is a pain to, you know if he lands the combo it’s 50% you can try and turtle but he will always run and grab, so it’s kinda hard to get round him seeing as how almost every hit from him is going to lead to 50% of your life every time.
Zankuro is pretty hard to, magically anti airing you everytime or catching you with his counter

I’d probably say alpha 3 also not because it was hard just because it cheats and does things that are not supposed to be done, stupid mash throws for one a few other things which i cant actually remember, i remember seeing guy do some shit like two standing hps after each other i’m pretty sure other characters had similar shit

Art of Fighting (SNES version) had some pretty annoying, nigh unhittable AI on level 8… well until you realize that all you have to do is do a jump off the wall and hit the opponents feet. They will only block high, making them all easy (except Jack but you can just throw him all the time since he loves doing his flying kick). But if you don’t know about that, they can be a major pain.

The one time I tried MUGEN (never played it again, especially after this crap), I was playing as Ciel from Melty Blood vs Chun Li from 3S.
For those of you who don’t play MB, Ciel has a super where she basically disappears and lines will start darting across the opponent (like she’s slashing them at super speed). It hits fullscreen wherever the opponent is and hits like, I dunno, 10 times maybe? It hits really rapidly too.

So I’m fighting this Chun Li and she whiffs a Kikoushou (sp?) so I’m like “I’m gonna punish that” so I do the previously mentioned super.

She freaking pulls a Daigo on me.

She parries every single goddamn hit of this insanely fast fullscreen super.

Then I’m a sitting duck after it, and of course, she combos me, supers, match over, I lose.

At least you didn’t face Tetsu. He can parry everything ever. His AI can literally parry 999 hits in a row.

most unfair i have ever encountered was the king of fighters 96’ & mortal kombat advance for gba, it was painfully unfair

The CvS2 super bosses are definitely obnoxious. I threw a fireball from full screen, and God Rugal teleported behind me, then did an unblockable super that took off my entire lifebar (it had been full) and then hit me five more times after that. That’s just dumb. It’s mostly because they do so much damage, though. Pick a ratio 4 character, and they’re not too hard at all. Heh!

On this topic, what’s the pattern to beating AI Grant in Garou MOTW? I messed around with the game the other day and Grant just seemed cheap as hell.

I don’t know about UMK3. The AI is definately psychic, but it’s so lazy I wouldn’t call it really difficult. If you stand at about 2/3 screen and move back and forth a bit, the AI just forgets to act. Some of the dumbest AI I’ve seen, but to be fair, I haven’t played a lot of FGs.

Hey, can anyone link me to good videos of the KoF bosses? I’ve never really played KoF until recently so I haven’t seen any of them in action. All I’ve found are videos where people actually manage to win, and well, I’d rather see someone get pulverized by them >_>

Yep, Ratio 4 Sagat got me through Survival Mode and Boss Rush.

Basically you have to play like a scrub to beat him. X_X He eats deep j.rh–>c.rh for free several times in a row too.

MK2 is tough but my vote goes to MKTrilogy. Fuck.That.Game. I’ve never come so close to snapping a game disc in half so many times in all my life. >_<

Also I’m glad i"m not alone on the ST ai. How they went from great ai a’la Hyper Fighting and SSF2 to that bullsh is beyond me.

Super Turbo was bad.
But…UMK3 was worse.

How much worse? Combine all of the aspects that made MK2 hard, and up the ante.
Opponent did a projectile, and you avoided it and can now get a FREE throw while they’re in recovery? Nope, get thrown first, no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT.

EVEN BETTER, play as Cyrax against the AI, and use his net…and attempt a throw. Guess who gets thrown first?! Unless you’re fighting the FIRST AI opponent or continuing after getting beat, throws are useless.

Haha, I remember that bullshit. UMK3 AI just flat out cheated. Often.

UMK3 breaks the rules just to gain a HUGE advantage over you.
