What are the exact inputs for Chun's Lightning Legs Loop? and O/S Thread

lol, me and mehtbh play alot and his method is definately more consistent and has more room for error, its also easily changeable when learning other cancels

fuck them leg loops!!

Life has been hard for your gramps Mal the last couple of weeks, just try and understand :3

new Guilty Gear in a couple of weeks, it has made him hate SF4

:frowning:

FUCK LEG LOOPS! it’s the only thing stopping me from maining her :frowning:

You don’t need leg loops to get good with her. I haven’t started using them until about 7-8 months ago and I’ve been playing her since vanilla.

In my opinion you do and I won’t do it with out it! I actually came up with a really cool way to do it about 20 minutes ago I think with a little practice this is the one!

The only matches where I think its pretty important is against Yun and Rufus really. Everyone else you can get away with not doing it. But you dont need it too much in those either. It also doesnt work against everyone. Its better to just focus on her footsies and other stuff until you get a feel for the character. thats whats going to win a match for you because its not too easy to find the opening for a leg loop. Its really just a punish combo, jumping in is too risky against most of the cast. cl.st.hk -> ex legs is easier and does good damage too.

if you’re just starting her and thats where you’re going, then theres a good chance youll be like the other 95% of the people who come to this forum and want to learn her for this reason and we never hear from them again.

Not trying to be pessimistic or cynical towards you at all, im not like that, its just that ive seen this too many times. Chun is a great character with a ton of great matchups, but shes a hard character to play to begin with, adding the loops is just going to frustrate many.

I’m not playing her for the first time I always played her on the side for fun but I never mained her because of the loop. I recently decided to play fighters again so I decided to go with my favorite character especially considering the fact that shes amazing in this version. I have her game down minus her Okizeme game and Loop also when I say loop I’m not trying to go for a million reps I want to make 2 reps into sweep my go to punish which works on most of the cast

then do it… 2 reps is fairly easy for a guy with your execution

As soon as I stopped trying to piano the loops I was able to hit them pretty consistently. I hit LK with my thumb, MK with my index finger, and HP with my ring finger, I just hit those twice and double tap HK after. Its quick but much easier than the piano.

I’ve always been on the fence as too how important big combos like that are. I played Viper for a long time so big punishes are something I’m used too. But some players don’t go for huge damage combos and they do just fine. Some characters aren’t even able to do huge damage and I think Chun has the tools to make up for not doing loops.

lol unfortunately my lack of playing these past 2 years pretty much killed my execution. I’m hoping it comes back sooner than later!

At the moment when I Piano I’m 100% on the first set of legs and about 80% on the FP but I get EX legs basically 90% of the time. Trying to slow down my Piano is harder than Learning how to Piano apparently I’ve been at it for about 4 days and I’m making no progress.

A couple days ago I started trying out Pianoing FP, MK, LK and then Using my left hand for LK and then Plinking RH with FP but I’m apparently bad and can’t plink to save my life anymore  I’m gonna try using the fingers you said you use. I’ve never used my right thumb before so it’s probably gonna be terrible for me

With the way I do it the game doesn’t seem to care if you get the plinks or not. I’ve never had the wrong legs come out. If you get the plinks and you get say 2 LK’s and 3 MK’s the legs wont come out until you hit HK. I can’t tell you why that happens maybe someone else around here can.

Not sure if anyone has posted a method like this but here’s how I do the leg loop. [Sorry about no vid]

It’s mainly a pianoing method but there’s a little slide in there that makes it much easier imo. I break it down into 3 steps:

  • First is the plink, which I do with FP and LK with my ring finger and my thumb.
  • Second is a short slide between the FP and the RH with the ring finger which requires a hand position shift downwards.
  • Third is pianoing MK, LK then HK with my index on LK, middle on MK and ring on HK. So the game registers a LK (1), then a HK with the slide (2), then then MK, LK and HK (3, 4, and 5)

To get the MK follow up I piano HK, MK, LK, HK then MK (with index and LK, middle on MK and ring on HK again) but that’s really not the hard part for most people since you can just mash MK. This way just flows better with my above method.

The two inputs together are very economical, they flow well together and it doesn’t leave much room for the wrong kicks to come out. Hope that helps someone.

I’m pretty much set on my method now I piano FP MK LK, and then I slide LK MK RH. I have brown microswitch mechanical buttons which I’m pretty sure are terrible for this method so I just purchased some standard sanwa buttons. I’m hoping once those come in I can do it perfectly, right now I’m at like 60%

I suck at pianoing except for cl.st.hk ->ex legs. my fingers just naturally do it, otherwise I cant do it. I just slide and I’ve gotten pretty consistent at it.

This is almost exactly how I do the loop, but I don’t slide my ring finger down from HP to HK, I piano the whole thing.

So using Piano notation of 1- thumb, 2- index, 3- middle, 4-ring, (5- pinky which I won’t use):
HP(4) ~ LK(1) > HK(4) ~ MK(3) ~ LK(2) ~ HK(4) > Mash MK(3)

To me this is the most intuitive way. The only difficulty is getting the piano soon after the plink, but otherwise it’s just drumming your fingers down, which (to me) is a pretty natural thing to do.

so if im doing dbhp and both hits of the hp comes out what am i doing wrong?

you’re too slow on your legs input

I’ve started setting throw to the bottom right button (traditional 8 button layout). So copying Exvaris’s notation of 2 - index, 3 - middle, 4 - ring fingers:

HP(3)~plink~MK(2) ~ Throw(4) ~ HK (3) ~ MK (2) ~ HK (3)

I’ve also started throwing in the air more often which is a plus to me because air throws are really satisfying. Feels like Chun’s telling your enemy to sit his/her ass back down.
