What are the exact inputs for Chun's Lightning Legs Loop? and O/S Thread

What is the timing for starting legs again during the loop? What should I be looking at before I tap cr hp+mk again?

You have a split second to notice the first part of the combo ending. You can see chuns legs go away and the character starting to recover.

Start easy. Do cr.HP legs then try to visually confirm into cr.HP only. Don’t worry about legs yet.

on the topic of the loop combo, im starting to think that legs hits so inconsistently that doing cr.hp xx lk SBK may be more of a pain than its worth. to me it just seems that since every character gets hit a different number of times by legs that the timing is slightly different to connect the third cr.hp it may just be me but I have a much harder time doing it on guile than I do abel. ending with sweep feels relatively the same across the characters that the loop works on.

The timing to hit the link after the last hit of legs is always the same (Although if the last hit hits meaty, sometimes the link would be made easier.) , it’s whether or not you get the last hit and how long it takes to get to that last hit if some of the other hits don’t connect (changing how long the full animation takes)

It’s very character specific and you just have to learn it. Every character interacts slightly differently with legs and you have to practice it on all of them if you want to play this character to her potential. Welcome to Chun Li.

How does meaty apply to this combo? Meaty is a timing for active frames on wakeup.

Are you talking to me or jaycobi?

he meant meaty mid combo which happens when one of the hits of the legs dont connect

So I’m trying to get this loop down on ps3 controller (sacrilegious, I know but I really can’t use a stick) but I’m running into a problem…

I can cancel the cr.hp into legs, however lately I’ve been getting mk legs consistently instead of hk legs for some reason. I know the pushback is supposed to prevent the loop from working but I swear I was able to add another cr.hp->mk legs on today (i’ve also been able to tack on sweep, and cr.mk after mk legs)… has the pushback been reduced in usf4 to the point that the loop will work with mk legs?

No it didn’t change. It’s just that you can technically still get a rep of the loop even with MK legs. Starting with HK Legs just increases your likelihood of getting it.

I see. Thanks!

Based on my experience, if you do MK Legs with MK Legs extension, the next rep doesn’t fully connect. That is:

cr.HP xx MK Legs ~ MK Extend > cr.HP xx MK Legs ~ MK Extend

In the above combo the last MK Extend doesn’t connect properly on most characters except really large characters.

Starting with HK Legs allows you to end the closest to your opponent to do the combo properly.

If you want to do cr.HP into fb to extend the loop combo, what so u think is the best plink for it?

I plink with cr.LK usually. Desk plinks with cr.MK I think.

I’ve been getting it lately with lk, then going into mp.

Second lot

Hey all, I’ve been struggling to find a way that’s comfortable for me and I think I found one but I’m a bit unsure of it in regards to plinking.

So basically I use the standard button layout, except I put 3P to the right of HK. This way I can just use my index (MK), middle (HK) and ring finger (3P) on the bottom row. I do 3P HK MK HK MK HK MKx4 and I’ve found myself very consistent with landing the first loop.

My issue with this method is that based on the inputs in training mode, it’ll show up as (top to bottom):
3P+HK
3P

To the best of my knowledge this isn’t really plinking, right? Because I’m not inputting HP twice, but HP and then HK the frame right after. I ask because I’m getting sweep more often after my kicks come out (but hey, hard knockdown, can’t really complain).

Sorry if this was mentioned already, I did a ctrl+f of “3P” and “punches” in this thread and saw nothing so I had to ask.

Hk has priority over Hp if im reading correct, this means when you plink 3p with Hk you will get Hp on the first frame then Hk on the second frame, hence the sweep issue

I stumbled across this video yesterday. THIS /\ is the video people should be watching. As someone who is new to SF and who starting play Chun like 5 days ago, everything in this thread was way over my head and impossible to understand. I watched this video and was able to perform cr. HP > Legs about 25% of the time within 5 minutes.

cool history bro

OK, Mal, next time you feel the urge to post something like this to a new guy, who wants to be helpful, just go out instead, take a walk, look at the wonderful nature, hear the birds sing, watch the clouds, do whatever you want, just stay off your keyboard, please.
