What are the best 2D fighting games on the Market right now?

Ok, I’m looking for a 2D good fighting game for PS3. Just got an arcade stick and I want to pick up a new game and really get good at it. As of now, I have AE, CS1, MvC3, and a couple older fighting games like KOF 96. Yeah, they’re old but that is how I’m judging the games. AE is OK, but too slow. CS1 is OK, but too… I don’t know, just feels weird. MvC3 is fun but it’s mostly just my game I play when I just want to play a few matches with some friends. KOF 96 was pretty cool and yes I have tried out KOF XIII, fun but I heard it is difficult to learn. Can anyone clarify it?

My top two as of now are KOF XIII and Persona 4 Arena. The criteria I’m looking for are pretty much just balance and speed (not too slow like AE but not too fast like MvC3). Accessibility and fun as well. So vote! KOF XIII or Persona 4 Arena (or other. If other, post below). Please give reasons why as well below.

Yeah I know, lots of these are out there, but no one is comparing the two.

If online is important, P4A. KoF13 online is bad.

Online, yes, will eventually be important. However it isn’t the most important part, just a good thing to have.

If you find AE slow, learning KoFXIII won’t be a problem. Make sure you’ve got a solid local scene to play offline though, as online is REALLY bad.

I don’t know Persona, so I can’t comment on it.

Yeah, there’s a kind of smallish local scene in my state.

AE is just too slow! It’s like watching Third Strike underwater!

How’s balance for characters and whatnot?
