Agreed. I understand he was put in because he was the first Capcom character to crossover with Marvel characters and the creators wanted to pay a tribute to that, but for them to say they wanted a more diverse roster and then for Akuma being revealed months later, just made them look like hypocrites. Especially to Ken fanatics. Akuma’s inclusion just added more fuel to the fire.
People are. However the problem about adding more characters may be that even though Capcom develops the game, they can’t go further without getting approval from Marvel first. This makes things more delicate than their own personal games. SF4 is their own characters, so they can do whatever they want there. SFxT is a much newer project and likely a newer contract involved, hence why they keep supporting it there. Also Namco is a Japanese company, thus easier to contact, not to mention that Ono and Harada are good friends with strong pulls in the companies, so a lot easier to bridge the gap, and have a less strict deal. Where as Marvel is an American company while Capcom is Japanese, so just the actual meetings are more difficult.
Cable, Capt Commando, Jin, Cyke, Spiral, Blackheart, and Psylocke, Guile. These characters became part of MVC blood and where the only characters who have generated a great MVC following. Except for maybe Guile but his movesets are something that has no one has a good similarity and his theme is too epic/iconic.
Jin = Best fit Rival for Deadpool. Movesets have been discussed and they are legit in uniqueness. He is also the character with the original X-factor so you can imagine a possible anchor role with this guy.
Psylocke = Probably the longest popular MVC female next to storm, and yes the boobs and nostalgia
Cyclops = Cannon wise, his role is huge and in MVC wise his impact has been huge
Cable = MVC3 is just not complete with out this god tier. We have the full set of God tiers in this supposed to be “memorable” game, Wolverine and Strider of MVC1 then 3 of the gods of MVC2… Cable will make that bridge of MVC history complete. This guy was the MVC god.
Spiral = one of the most unique characters ever made for MVC. Her movesets were just awesome, same with her impact in the MVC universe.
Blackheart = MVC impact and no there is no similarity between him and Dormammu. Dormammu doesn’t shit out demons. How the hell has this guy not been mentioned yet?
Rubyheart, Anakaris, Son Son, and Iceman are nice choices to, but i think the names i listed first are the most deserving not just because of fitting in but because of how they’ve impacted the MVC history.
Jin was the character that was barely used in both MVC1 and 2, but eventhough his fan base was that high. Every marvel player loved that character even though ironically he was a slot warmer.
Even if they were not used at a competitive level they had some great character designs, Amingo, Ruby Heart, SonSon, Jin and Guile are some of the characters that some of my friends and I really miss.
If Ruby Heart and Amingo were in this game, I could make my Sombrero summoning team a living reality, my no-life would be complete.
Cable for sure couldn’t hang in this game. In Marvel 3 keep away is extremely difficult. I don’t know if its fast average character movements, so many having moves like air dashing & lighting fast divekicks, or just tiny stages, but someone who was previously locked down can be in your face in a second and destroy you if your game isn’t perfect.
To make Cable worth a damn they’d really have to BREAK his beams and give him other great tools to compete.
Keep away is still viable but just requires a ton of hard work and a lot of risk. So don’t think Cable would just waltz into this game and clean house like in MVC2. More often than not he’d just catch a pipe to the face.
Haha! And all of the above is purely coincidental.
The more I think about it, the more I believe that Dhalsim would be great in this game. Long limbs that are like a faster version of Sentinel’s jumping M, flight mode, teleports, unblockable anti-air hyper, tri-dashing, weird dive kicks (and headbutts as well) slow projectiles covering his movement on the screen and yoga flame (horizontal and anti-air) assist.
I also think that Bison could make it into UMvC3 quite well with a few adjustments like adding some immunity to his hypers. He has a nice moveset, a projectile with a curved trajectory, a projectile that detonates creating a huge hitbox in the middle of the screen, screen based teleports, flight mode, charge attacks…
