I miss some of MVC2’s characters like Bison, Charlie, and Juggernaut, and the command for rolling. Mainly the command for rolling though.
I’m still shocked that viper of all characters made it into this game. What a oddball choice and waste of a character slot on the roster. We could have had Bison, Seth, Guile, Dudely, ANYBODY but Viper. Blehh.
Viper was expected to be the face of SF4 so they planed on her filling the “new to SF” slot for MvC3. *hmm… *:wonder:dudley vs iron fist
[S]Personally I wanted Gill (and… or… expected or) Urien to rep SF3 while Seth rep SF4; that would have made M.Bison a must with an alternate good SF tie in. [/S]
[S]4 good (ryu, chun, other, guile or charlie) and 4 bad (akuma, bison, seth, gill or urien) but this is very off topic so…[/S]
a MvC3 Guile would need access to cmd normals (try adding 3 with focus properties using :s:+:atk:), charge for 20 frames or less (see hulk’s gama wave), and a boom that is more relevant than Ryu’s hadouken (at least give :h: boom 2 hits like an ex). A cancelable air forward dash (try 3 directions, with focus properties using :s:+:atk:) could offer favorable offensive mobility without breaking his iconic 2 specials rule. If Charlie returned his Booms and ground based mobility would likely get buffed along with a shadow mode hyper.
a MvC3 Bision would likely be a favorable mix of MvC2 Bison and SF4 Bison. His 2 projectile types could be consolidated under one special ( :f:,+:atk:, hold :atk: for long range types), psycho crusher ( :qcb:+:atk:) could be like charging star with projectile negation. Scissor Kick ( :qcf:+:atk:) could have different properties per strength for resets, hard knock down, or combo extension. Bison Warp could get the akuma treatment ( :dp:+:s: or :rdp:+:s:) or have 6 plausible variants ( :dp:+:atk: or :rdp:+:atk:) giving him 4 zones and 2 relative to his foe. Then there are the options of his ( :d:,:u:+:atk:,hold or tap:atk:) head stomp, devils reverse, and a potential flight mode or focus attack with 8 way dash. A situationally strong tool set worthy of a former boss.
I don’t think a MvC3 Thanos would be so much built from MvC2 Thanos as it would be a re imagining of MSH Thanos with rock slinging normals while reworking some of his gem themed supers into specials (like space or soul) and a level 3 hyper (like time and mind); his iconic bubble would remain intact.
I’m not so confident any of these three (four) could walk in from MvC2 and be above mid tier with just a few MvC3 properties tacked on to their previous tool set.
I also agree that Guile could be a strong character but as you said, he would need some changes. I think that he would need at least a command grab (air ok) to be really scary.
He could definitely work in a game like this where good anti-airs are lacking for the most part and if his special air kick didn’t need any sort of charging just like in MvC2, I could see myself tiger-kneeing that stuff all day. He also had other interesting options back in the day that could work like throwing a slow sonic boom when the enemy is approaching from the air, block, and push guard him to the projectile… it could have enough hit stun to allow a full combo.
MvC3 OTG window would mean that every Blackheart combo would end in Inferno to Heart of Darkness. Of course, knowing Capcom, they’d probably pull some BS like making HoD a level 3 cinematic hyper.
