What absentee MvC2 characters could hang in 3?

Yes Rhino & Dr Octopus have been relevant in terms
of Spiderman comics. Juggernaut isnt even himself anymore.
He gained new abilities and a hammer last I read.

Moon Knight had a relaunched comic that I think ended in April
as well as him being apart of numerous teams

No new DLC but a new game has been rumored

It hasn’t been even a year since Ultimate and if Capcom keeps repeat-a-releasing games I can almost see their franchises ending up where Rockband/Guitar Hero are now (not to compare the genres, just the marketing). [/rant]

I have a feeling Sabretooth would probably wind up being top tier in UMVC3, too. I mean, the guy is fast and he would deal lots of damage. They would probably give him an auto-crossup claw swing, too, like Berserker Slash. Given UMVC3’s gameplay design, I think he would be strong as fuck.

If bezerker slash crossed up and wild dang was unblockable.

Yeah! I can’t remember if he had a dive kick, though.

Oh, and also, his Birdie assist calls would definitely be more useful in this game, too.

Well in fantasy land, Birdie probably wouldn’t be with old Sabretooth in this game. He killed her a minute ago even when MvC2 came out.
Now what would be awesome would be Wild Child chained to him as a little helper. (They tend to depict Sabretooth with that mini me a lot nowadays)

Now THAT would make for an awesome character design. In fact, DO want. A little unlikely since that would be an equivalent to some level 3’s, but as long as he didn’t constantly attack it could be managed.

Could just give him a MAUL OTG which would make him like the 2nd character with a throw that OTG’s. What’s neat is his air throw already ground bounces.

RE:SaberTooth
I would flip for an Age of Apocalypse themed SaberTooth with a personal Wild Child assist. I think that’s the one they showed in the exiles a while back. With so few moves his berserker claw could get vanilla Wolverines berserker slash properties. Swapping Birdie’s 3 shot types for 3 assist attacks from Wild Child could allow for some extensive combo extensions. Even if all WildChild did was a poor version of X-23’s (neck,ankle,decap) slice moves, it should make great openings for berserker claw and wild fang. At least one version of wild fang should be unblockable too.

With Colossus being the new Juggernaut now it could be an interesting hybrid of Peter Rasptutin wielding the Power of Cytorak.

The mishmash of normals would probably favor Colossus while Juggs more memorable normals could become command normals. Jugg’s old command throw should become his back throw and there could be a way for him to pick up a hard KD foe. He should retain all specials.

M.Bison would also be on my wish list mixing some flavors of SF4 with MvC2

I would like to see Guile and M. Bison myself, but they need to reduce charge time across the game entirely before putting them in.

Yeah Dhalsim naturally would be, in fact he was definitely underrated in MvC2. But I think Dhalsim would probably get replaced with Seth before they put in Dhalsim.

Why would sim fit into MVC3?

Seth is definitely more Marvel than Sim. Knowing capcom he’d be rockin ridiculous levels of broke. Granted I used to think the power shift in UMVC3 was totally in Capcoms favor but it’s not as bad as it seemed anymore.

Frankly I don’t see Sim as a good Marvel fit at all. Urien on the other hand? Definitely could get in.

But to keep on topic, I think Dhalsim would also be a great addition to the roster. His long limbs would definitely give him options. Capcom would probably give him his Ultra II from SF4, too, which would give him interesting unblockable set-ups on incoming characters or otherwise. He would indeed feel a bit redundant now that we already have Ghost Rider, though.

Yah and ghost riders normals arent hittable. I can see Sims limbs getting Hulk smashed now. He’d need to be retooled imo. Teleports? His was real slow and readable, drill? See Footdive but worse, fireballs? Beams or bust. Yoga Flame? Meh, Chris got you covered. Flight? Lots of flyers already. Too many people do what dhalsim DID right now imo.

With a bit of tweaking I believe everyone from MVC2 could work in MVC3.

Not so bad. Give him a OTG or a Wall bounce or whatever… something to excel with in the UMVC3 Engine. Back him up with some missiles.

Yeah… it’s true. Although I would still welcome him if he was added, simply because I’m a big Dhalsim fan.

Random thought: Ruby Heart could potentially be an anti-Phoenix character in this game. Her meter-draining ghosts could keep the meter-building slim for the opponent, especially when paired up with TACs.

Most of these critiques seem irrelevant to me because:

  1. If some tools were bad or near useless for a character in an older edition of a game, they can just be reworked. For example, Strider’s divekick teleport and wall clinging were horrible in the older series. Look at them now.

  2. A character can have similar tool sets to another character and not feel redundant. Mags, Iron man, Doom, and MODOK all have flight, tri dashes, and beams. Do they play the same? Not at all.

Dhalsim, I think, can feel unique enough in this game even if he reuses tools from many other characters. And to be honest, I’m not sure how a fireballing tri-dashing flying teleporting dive kicking high reaching unblockable setting character would be anything but unique.

But Firebrand has all that besides the teleporting and GR normals, and the tridash to a degree.

I still stand by the fact that Bison with OTG Psycho Shot and OTG Psycho Punisher as a lvl3 added could just be ripped from Marvel 2 and plopped in the roster and feel very unique.

Well, I’m not posting wishlists for characters. I’m kind of looking at them the way they were in MvC2 with maybe minor changes to fit into UMVC3 system. Like add a wallbounce or ground bounce. I just think his neutral would be ass. I don’t care about him being unique but just ass if he was “easy ported” over. As I said, he’d have to be retooled with serious tweeks.

I personally dislike the character too.
