Am I ever so glad that Capcom decided to bring Sentinel back to this game. He was honestly the character that I thought had the lowest possibilities of returning out of the MVC2 roster.
Also, I would have loved to see B. B. Hood return, just to see what they could do with her win animation and her voice in English. They would have to get one good actress for her.
Lower than Bone Claw Wolverine? I somehow doubt that.
Hmph, you’re right. Anybody else had higher possibilities than Sentinel, though, in my opinion.
Japanese people love Giant robots. Sentinel is in, just like Shuma for those tentacles.

I don’t think that’s why Sentinel and Shuma-Gorath got in. Sentinel got in because of an unprecedented display of fan service on Capcom’s part (which would have been thought impossible in the past generation), and Shuma-Gorath got in because Capcom love them some freaky characters.
And BTW, I approve of Juggernaut and Spiral.
I think it was seth killian who helped get Sentinel in. He ended up becoming such an interesting character in MVC2 and definitely got a special place in tournament players hearts.
However, casual players and ‘fans’ hate that character so if it was really up to fanservice to decide the roster, Sentinel would have never made it.
Yeah, I know, I was referring to fanservice towards the tourney crowd. If anything, Sentinel’s mango colour is evidence of that.
I was thrilled when Sentinel was leaked. He is such a great character design, and I actually believe that his old sprite is very probably the most beautiful low-res 2D spriteset ever drawn. His animations are so fluid, colorful and complex. Fun fact: did you know that, at the time Children of the Atom was released, arcade machines were technically uncapable of handling a sprite of Sentinel’s size, so Capcom actually had to animate him using TWO sets of sprites? That’s right, Sentinel is like two fighter sprites rolled into one. I think it’s safe to say that his sprite was the single most advanced for its time back then.

Gonna also put in a word for Servbot, because there’s no equivalent to him.
Glad to see Jugz get so many mentions too since I’d been hoping for him since the game was announced (Juggernaut sucker punch assist is always so muh fun)!
Also wish they’d kept the ability to choose the same charater multiple times. Made it easier to make good balancing rules when playing locally with friends and only one console (loser swaps controller to someone not playing, after the 2nd win in a row, the winning player must start using an all Servbot team).

Regardless of ‘cool factor’ Marvel has an agenda
to promote newer or more relevant characters.
