I was going to hold a series of qualifiers for free entry into each game and a hotel room but plans fell through. Now the only qualifier is for Street Fighter IV at CVC’s 2v2 in San Diego. I’m giving away two Madcatz sticks to the winners of the tournament also.
For those that haven’t caught it yet, Kai and I were on the Gootecks Show and is now posted. For one week, sign ups for players who register for Street Fighter IV only get half off the venue fee.

I have a feeling that John Rog has little or no control over the pricing of the drinks.
I think he’s asking the hotel to provide a cash bar service for them, where you pay the hotel a fee to set it up, and the hotel charges its own rates. If that’s the case, we’ll probably be looking at ~3-4 bucks for a beer (depending on if it’s domestic or import), and ~6-9 for shots or mixed drinks.
Besides, something tells me that if it were up to John Rog, he’d have made the drinks free. =P
is it possible to go only to spectate? And is the pool party reserved for those who stay at the hilton?

From the quick questions I asked my event coordinator at the Hilton, a vodka tonic with like a house vodka was 6 or 7 bux. Top shelf would be like, 11 or something. I’ll try and get more accurate prices from him this week.
It’s fine to come watch. Two drink minimum though. The pool is supposed to be for guests only, but whatever. I’m sure the hotel won’t make a big deal out of it.
I’ll check with my room mates Marn. They might be okay with it. One of them has been going through some tough times recently so he’s been a little moody, but I’ll check. Send me a PM of when you plan on coming out or staying till. If anything, I’ll get word out that you’re looking for a place to kick it for a few days.
The after party will be in the Monarch Ballroom where the finals will be held. After finals are finished (I’m guessing around 6:30pm) and prizes are awarded out, we’ll clear out the chairs and stuff and setup for like, half an hour and re-open the doors.
Oh, so I just got word from my event coordinator.
Saturday, we will have a BBQ grill outside starting at 11:00am.
For $10, you get either a burger or two hot dogs, chips, and a drink.
For $6, you get either a burger, or two hot dogs.
I had both amongst other things (sampling and taste tests; one of the perks of dropping thousands into the hotel, lol) and they’re good stuff. I will definitely be grubbing in the cabana area with the BBQ and I suggest you do the same.
The following restaurants are in fairly close vicinity to the hotel:
IHOP, El Torito, Gulliver’s Prime Rib, Quiznos, La Salsas, Carl’s Jr., and a few other places I don’t recall off the top of my head.
Unfortunately, we will not be providing grub Friday night for the pool party, so grab dinner before you get there.
If it hasn’t been mentioned before, pool party starts at 7pm.
