What’s up everybody.
Below is the link for the flyer that will be used as the PR for WcW. You’ll see these at the various arcades in SoCal, but it is also saved as a 4x6 PostCard Club flyer (thus the cutoff and bleed sections at the bottom of the flyer), so if any of you feel like helping us out a little, please print out a few and throw them around.
Now for the most IMPORTANT PART of this post:
Please understand how much planning and money have gone into this tournament. Hosting an event like this is not cheap.
The point of this event is to make sure that ultimately, our close friends and the California community have an event that they can call their own, at a nice venue and not some shack in the middle of nowhere. Regardless of how you do or how far you go in your respective tournaments, as long as you have a fucking AMAZING time, our goals have been met.
That being said, I urge you as one of the partners, if you are an out of towner or even more importantly one of our close friends, please PURCHASE A ROOM. It includes FREE INTERNET, and we also worked very hard to lower the price.
We understand that because of the plethora of players in SoCal, you might be leaning towards just staying over at another players house down the street or driving back home between the days. We ask that if it is within your ability to purchase a room, please do so, as not only does it help us recoup the money initially thrown into this event, it also allows us to plan bigger and better things for the next one.
So stay with a significant other, a partner, a friend. Stay one night or two. Talk to us if you need some help. We need these rooms filled a week before the end of August.
Now in regards to tournament brackets and seeding.
All tournaments under 64 entrants will most likely be under a normal bracket form.
All tournaments over 64 entrants will be left at my discretion on whether or not pools are formed.
(IMPORANT) SEEDING: I will be in charge of all seeding and bracket placements. I will be implementing a new system, which will be a nice breath of fresh air for players and spectators alike.
Tournament brackets will be created and seeded by SKILL and REGION in such that:
-
Seeds will not vs. until Top 8, Top 16, Top 32, etc. should they make it through their initial bracket.
a. For each bracket, seeds will be shuffled and then placed respectively at the Top and Bottom of each (mini) bracket.
b. 16 Players - 4 Seeds, 32 Players - 8 Seeds, 64 players - 16 Seeds, 128 Players - 32 Seeds. -
Seeds aka Top Players are determined by (In decreasing imporantance):
a. Tournament Rankings / Results
b. Region RanBat Tournament Points
c. Reputation
d. Vouching
i. If the amount of seeds is less then required, another seed will be selected at random to vouch for another player they believe is qualified to be used as a seed. -
If seeds are from the same state / region, they are not to play until the last possible / reasonable match. In the event that this might accidently occur, floating will occur.
-
Players will be sorted by region. As of now, with the exception of California and New York / East Coast, no player shall play another person from their state until the last possible / reasonable match.
a. California and New York / East Coast will be sorted in such that players from these regions will not vs. one of their own unless it is unavoidable. -
GOOD TOURNAMENT RULE: In the event that the above rules do not separate players enough, or in the case that a CA/CA or NY/NY match is unavoidable, the Good Tournament Rule will apply. If the match/players in question drove together, flew together, or are room mates, it will become an automatic float for one of the players. They will most likely be replaced with another player from the same state from another bracket.
-
SEEDING DIRECTOR / PANEL: All seeds will be chosen by the director. In the case that the director is not aware of or does not know who should be used as a seed, he will confer with the panel for advice.
a. The panel will be made up of 5 seeds selected at random from the state in question, or from the Top 5 seeds in a tournament.
Example: A California Seeding Director is unaware of who the remaining seeds are from East Coast. A group of already designated seeds from East Coast will then confer with the Director as to who is a liable candidate.
b. Panels can veto Director decisions by acquiring 5 more seeds to agree with them.
More rules to be added.
