I would go ahead and overanalyze everything wrong with the first post but I don’t want to be a complete douchebag.
First off, you probably suck if you can’t get around gun + drones + teleport. If I assume right that B = Heavy, he’s teleporting upwards. Go ahead and air throw or divekick him with Wolverine for a free combo. Second, if Deadpool is out, you can do L or M guns to hit Sentinel out of his assist, and kill the drones in the process. Skrull…meteor smash? Air throw. Some Skrull player help me there. Don’t forget there’s always the option of using a snapback to get Sentinel in.
I remember when I thought I was good and hated playing against Hulk lol. You aren’t as good as you think if you can’t get past something as simple as Wesker gun spam, sorry.
Well like i said im pretty good, maybe i need to switch out a character. erm B does airgrab?? man i aint too clued up on the fight lingo, but i know that B grabs in the air. I can absolutely demolish wesker on his own. and sent. but with this tactic and the drones from sent, I just cant get in with wolvie. I thought of the idea with using skrulls orbital grudge assist to get me in with those drones… but after weskers shot and the three drones, the one hit armour orbital grudge has just aint enough
ah i get ya man. I definately dont suck. Like i said im not clued up on the lingo so cheers for not being a douchebag point is if i divekick straight down i catch wesker but land on the drones.i can dive kick after superjumping across the screen and catch sentinel to stop the assist i suppose. deadpools guns dont kill all the drones. superskrull first with a meteor smash is probably my best bet and catch sent and wesker at teh same time. snap back is definately not an option with this tactic. its near impossible to get anywhere near wesker with them drones coming at ya
I do play a lot man. the point im saying is I know its not impossible to beat him, if im lucky and he fucks up and i catch him. but at the moment Im having so much trouble getting around this assist. people keep giving me advice and saying i “should own wesker with wolvie”??? yes… I can… easily! but just this mix up im finding hard as hell to get anywhere near to him or have time to think… and the point im making is that the opponent isnt really thinking at all. just mashing heavy/B and calling an assist.
run Skrull first then. Up Back to block regular stuff until he calls drones, then Meteor Smash and tag both characters into Inferno for easy damage. Sentinel calls are free as can be to Meteor Smash because of how tall the robot is. if Wesker blocks, he’s still taking chip and Sentinel is losing 3/4 life.
Okay. I have some serious Anti wesker Tech for you. Which applies to Wolverine, if you use this you can negate a LOT of his options. You need to do this EXACT input whenever he teleports towards you. It needs to be 100% Accurate
Combos aren’t the game, it’s only one aspect of the many basics you need to know.
You simply don’t know how to deal with what the fighting game community calls zoning, in this case not a very effective use of it, but block and well placed jumps can easily get through it.
he is literally calling drones in STRAIGHT away, right from the off and doesn’t stop whilst teleporting at you. he gets so close then gets behind you. I do reckon skrull is the answer here. Im so used to wolvie or maybe deadpool being my point and skrull does most of the damage for me, and he finishes a series of DHC niceley with inferno, but i reckon skrull and meteor smash until sent is dead, then get wolvie back out to take care of wesker. cheers for the advice anyway mate!
Like i say, im not saying it is impossible, It just annoys me that my friend sucks otherwise but can stand a chance or beat me by simply tapping B/heavy and holding forwards, its sooo simple :S.
nah i know your right man, i do have some sick assist mix ups. I think its more a case of being overwhelmed by this tactic ^^^ its literally so in your face and hard to even keep up with wesker and the drones… my point is that when im doing complicated combos and mixups im using all my skill to get the win. where as this lad is simply mashing B/heavy and cant even see what hes doing himself really, just mashing and hoping for the best . i just find it a bit cheap. i know the teleport leaves wesker open in the air but with them drones covering him and they are heading upwards, its hard to get around them.
its wesker gun spam plus sents drones… you obviously dont know the tactic im talking about, and if you do and can get round this, please share your info?
since you’re upset about how simple the tactic is, i’m gonna let you in on some advice; It’s Marvel 3. simple stuff will win by virtue of how hard it hits. you have to learn how to avoid getting hit if you want to make it anywhere in this game. whether that involves keeping your opponent from getting close or (what i personally prefer) playing characters that don’t let your opponent play the game, you have to find an answer to anything your opponent does. it’s as simple as that.
I have a friend who does the same exact thing with Wesker except instead of using Sentinel drones, uses x-factor level 3, which is far worse, but he only wins like 1 of every 20 games. Your best bet is to get a beam assist to cover wolverine, and try mixing him up with berserker slash (does it still have projectile invincibility on startup? I haven’t played him since vanilla), or like others have said just use skrull on point and meteor smash.
Chicken blocking will also work, you can Fatal Claw on reaction to his teleport (or inferno with skrull on point for an even bigger area of effect). Idk what deadpool assist you are using but you can switch to guns when you face this friend for the projectile assist if you don’t wanna switch anyone out.
Also just out of curiosity what is your idea of a “complicated combo or mixup”?
we know the tactic your parading around as difficult to get around. Nothing in marvel is easy to learn, you will not become a good player by taking a milk and honey approach to this game. Don’t plateau yourself with a strict combo game, you need ot know your characters capabilities for spacing with normals, specials, counters to every other move from any other character. You need to hit the training room and record player 2 doing this setup until you can get by it. The vs. series is unforgiving, only the best are the best because of their intensity and their dirtiness in play.
Wesker/drone is by far the shittiest pairing. I run it because I’m dense and I love both Sentinel and Wesker but damn if those two together don’t make an awful team.
I guess there’s a couple of things I’ll be nice enough to explain to you:
If your friend is switching teams because he found his first one to have flaws, he is not a n00b. He is actually learning some of the higher level stuff in his own way. He may not have the execution and matchup stuff down, but he is trying to play the game based on a team effort more than before.
You are not good. This game makes you look good. This game was designed to make bad people look good. Right now you are a scrub because instead of just looking for the information on the site (which plenty of hard people put work into organizing) you made a giant thread about it. A clear sign that you aren’t close to shit yet is that you are calling people n00bs and that you came in here to tell us that you are good but can’t deal with drones.
Find the character forums and stop posting in this thread. If you ask the specifics of what you are having problems with, you will get excellent answers out of the community. We are here to help each other out, this includes you. We are rough but insanely fair. If you want to learn, we are both eager and happy to teach. Do not do this shit again.
Always keep your cool when playing a fighting game. Anger is the mind killer. You need to get all Dune’d up when you play these games. If you haven’t read Dune its because I’m godlike. I’m halfway through Dune; this means I am not godlike either.
