I was thinking, if they extended the hit box of his Dan Knees are a bit lower, would it now be more viable when using Air Dan Knees to get in (instead of whiffing like in ae2012)?

That won’t do any good - all his follow-ups except ex KRK have to be performed immediately.

If you can hear me Ixion, or anyone else who has some connections to Combofiend/Dawg, can you tell them why on God’s green earth the hell that Dan ended up with the DP FADC nerf? What super advantages does he have over the other characters who got the nerf?

He already got a nerf to his best tool (low danku) by taking away some of the advantages on hit, now they give him the -5 FADC nerf, the ONE thing that gave him that unique “flavor” compared to the other shotos?

What are they going to do with Dan now that he has these two disadvantages? Will they reduce the startup on his Ultra 2 now that we have to rely on DP> FADC > Hold for .2 seconds> move forward? (Which won’t work since It’s 15 frames on startup. As GroundedSF said, you have to be ON POINT with the FADC or else it won’t connect).

Gadouken still sucks on the hurtbox (From the tip of his hand to his forearm). Really? Just his forearm? Why don’t you just take off the WHOLE. DAMN. ARM. HURTBOX! and make it like every other character in the game. At least he’ll have the worst fireball in the game in terms of range instead of the worst fireball in everything.

Now that Danku will have less advantages, his gadouken hurtbox still sucks, and that they give them the most unnecessary nerf for this character, Dan has lost ALOT of his pressure game, which is the ONLY game he has. He can’t zone, he can’t command grab/overhead against turtlers, he can’t do mid or far range play, and the only viable thing about him, his close pressure game, is now cut dry.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised. Reverting the Ken buffs, nerfing Seth to hell, and stepping on Vega are mountains of proof that this shouldn’t have been a shock.

Relax dude the Universal FADC changes is for the better. It will help Dan out more in the end. Now that Red focus is here Dan should spend his meter landing that. If you need FADC to save you from your KRK mistake you already lost. The only FADC Dan should use was Gadouken. If the Ultra mod holds up there are some great mid screen combos into RFC.

Gadouken hurtbox change is perfect. Anything more would be pointless because of the slow startup.

The less frame advantage on Danku is it still speculation.

The issue is not with using wake-up KRK FADC forwards, it’s with no longer being able to use this after blocked DK. I would understand getting rid of it if they’d given other significant buffs, but they haven’t. In fact leaving him as the only character who could still do this was probably his biggest ‘buff’ in the last changelog!

You can still do FADC Forward. There is still a mix up. The EX version is unchanged. The mind game and reads only got bigger. Its all just less cheap and dumb.

Except that now to have ANY chance of landing ultra 2 Dan needs 3 bars or a very very specific corner situation.

His comeback ability is nerfed and he has nothing left. Not even light danku pressure. Seems like the new hitbox ended the massive frame advantage. Dan is literally unsalvageable now.

I don’t think anyone has confirmed the loss of frame advantage on the new knee but I wouldn’t doubt it.

The only reason I wouldn’t have them give Dan shorter recovery on forward/back dash or reduced startup on Ultra 2 was because he didn’t get the FADC nerf.

But now that he does they better give him these buffs to help him with his game.

Also we should just tell them to revert the danku change. I’d rather whiff on some characters than to hit them all and get very little frame advantage on hit.

You shouldn’t wasting two bars on a FADC in ultra. Main focus (hehe) should be RFC.
Dan isn’t Ryu. U2 was always the poorer choice ultra because you get push back that much after hitting it and was only useful to end the round.

Hey but you play a different style of Dan then me. My goal is to get them in to the corner then keep them there.
I feel like Ultra Dan only got better for that.

If you feel that strongly about Dan being “gutted” now is the perfect time to re-roll. You can always come back later to see if Dan was really a lost cause or Ixion shown us a new path.

Actually since I only play Dan I kind of quit the game. Last year I played around 4000 games. This year so far less than a 100.
I also lost interest in watching events, but I will still buy Ultra and see what can be done.

You’re right on the money about RFC. Maybe that brings something to the table though I’m not good enough to guess how or what.

Red Focus isn’t really an optimal option for doing damage into Ultra for Dan.

Focus adds 2 levels of damage scaling to a combo so the combo would scale a lot more. For instance, DP FADC U2 would only have the U2 affected by 80% damage scaling. st.HK RFC U2 or U1 would be affected by 60% damage scaling. You waste an extra bar for less damage.

I think his point is that Dan does quite a bit of damage outside of his Ultra and that the RFC opens up damage possibilities outside of the ultra itself.

U2 is essentially dead but Dan might be able to put some hurt down with RFC and his new combo possibilities

Dan can already combo into ultra with three meters, redfocus doesn’t seem woth it outside of combo extensions

Meter management is gonna be key in Ultra for Dan, taunting will be essential. I wish normal taunts will build meter as well for Dan.

Normal Taunt does build meter. Shoutouts to karataunt being slightly more viable?

Ill be using Dan for 5 or so matchups exclusively in Ultra. El Fuerte, C. Viper, Rufus, Abel, and maybe Vega and Rolento. I do like Ultra combo double in general for dan though tbh.

Red Focus will be situational for dan im sure.

how is taunting going to be essential, Dan needs to be up close, not full screen. I can build meter now with gadoukens and krk, but I build more meter on block
