I don’t agree. I for one wouldn’t take em even if they were legal.
Unless I am missing another angle you may be addressing.
Sounds good, I did this with one other friend for a couple months, it’s pretty fun.
i disagree as well, why do you say this???
i do not not take them because they are illegal, i dont take them because they fuck you up health wise, and ethical reasons…

Ethics?
Are you also against protein powder, creatine and vitamin pills? because that shit gives you an edge and can also fuck your health up if abused.
Steroids don’t have negative health effects unless you abuse them or are just sensitive to them genetically–just like anything else.
The supplement industry is a billion dollar industry that essentially sells snake oil. There are a few decent products that work but the rest are unregulated, placebo cash cows.
They sell products that are advertised to have the effects of steroids, but in reality they don’t do shit. All those XTREME fat burners and HARDCORE MUSCLE TEARING test-boosters are junk, yet people pay big bucks for them.
Hmm, I know at my gym they have trainers that will measure it for free using these caliper type things. I’m not sure how to do it yourself though. If you go to a university you should be able to get it done for free at the health center.
AzNSkater: Cool guys. Lets give it a couple weeks to wait for more people to see if they’re interested. Then we can try and setup the rules, post the before pics, decide on a prize if any, etc.
I don’t pay big bucks for shit.
I’m in…my main goal has been to get leaner and more definition, and build some more mass. I think i’ve seen those nike things being sold at my gym, wasn’t sure what they were for though.
Yeah I am aware of that, but long-term effects are still sketchy and rife with controversy. This uncertainty is what I am avoiding. I don’t drink, smoke, or drink coffee for that matter. Coffee has its health benefits too but I would rather not develop a dependency on it and the source of its health benefits can be found elsewhere.
Also, correct me if I am wrong, but when you stop using, isn’t it very hard for you to maintain the gains achieved. Since muscle gained without steroids is proportional to the exercises performed however anabolic steroids allows the very rapid building of muscle at a much larger rate. When stopping, your body won’t need all that muscle for the exercises you perfrom, so all that disproportionate gain is lost. If that is the case, the user will be hard-pressed to continue using it to maintain his body, making it a long-term commitment. That dependency and long-term commitment associated with it (and the shroud surrounding anabolic steroid long-term effects) is what I am avoiding.
If you could give me a link to research papers regarding a population study of moderate, high and non-steroid users and their long-term health conditions that does that would be helpful. Although controlling outside factors is pretty much impossible in population studies. Still, I can’t find even one and I won’t go believing either camp blindly, which leaves me no choice but to be safe than sorry.
Also, I thought it was a well known fact that nothing in the legal market works wonders like anabolic steroids. Never even heard of test-boosters. And not that I use them, but I thought fat burners worked. Don’t they just increase your heart rate/resting metabolic rate? Don’t know about the detrimental side to it.
Anyways, I think the biggest card the supplement industry has is protein. And steroids won’t replace that.
Cool. I’ll see if my uni gym has one.
I wouldn’t use them either but lots of people would, especially in our quick-fix-pill society.
There are other drugs you use after a steroid cycle in order to maintain the gains.
Yep.
People would just buy protein and steroids lol.
What are they?
True, definately some people would buy steroids. But eitither way the protein demand will still be there, and the companies that have been providing the protein will just start providing steroids. So in the end, they wont go out of business, rather, they would make more money.
okay,so…this is my first time posting here, because frankly,i dont know shit about the technicalities and terminology of excercise. i work out by way of MMA sparring and drilling twice a week, but im trying for a debut cage match by around next december.
my brother, in his MMA fandom and desire to help me, gave me that new P90x.
ive googled it and got all kinds of mixed reviews, with no concrete, consistent stuff.
so my question is does anyone here possibly know anything as to whether this system works and is worthwhile? any input is greatly appreciated…
I can’t remember exactly. Some of them are anti-aromatase/estrogen regulators.
But not every company makes protein, and not every company can survive just by selling protein powders. The market is filled with rubbish products from crappy companies; these are the ones that would go under.
I’ve given it a glance once. I think it can be helpful, but only for a certain amount of time before going obsolete. A good 12 weeks on a program will display whether you’re on your way to the desired final results.
It’s not a very detailed response, but think about how many professional athletes use the P90X to improve performance. I don’t recollect any.
I am not quite sure, but I thought P90X us more about toning and fat loss?
I would think you would be more interested in gaining strength. Depends on what your goals are.
i dunno anything about P90x, but you train twice a week and you’re looking for a fight? unless you’ve been doing it for a couple years, you’re probably going to get pounded out with a quickness…
on another note:
the Sherdog staples (in the nutrition/supplementation section, not the retards in the heavyweights forums) seem to be creatine monohydrate, whey protein, fish oil, and maybe some beta-alanine and BCAAs on the side. i’ve been taking creatine/whey/fish oil as well as some before-bed muscle milk or casein and it’s all definitely helped my performance and recovery. why do people shell out for big fancy products (sup MuscleTech) that come in an obnoxious black and purple case that looks like it has a bigger penis than i do?
its personal ethics, and your right vitamins gives you a significant edge…
a lot of things can fuck up your health if abused…and steroids do have negative health effects even if you dont abuse them…the use of steroids long term has negative health effects wheather you abuse them or not…

yeah,im gonna be fighting at welterweight, and im already doing strength training, but im no trying to gain too much mass. i figured (if it works) the p90x would be good for calistenics (sp?) and endurance. i wanna at least be able to last a couple rounds going 100% without getting gassed, hopefully it helps.
well, unlike most people, i have common sense. so in other words, yes. ive been doing martial arts seriously since i was 15,so id say its been quite a while now. and if my match is next DECEMBER, then obviously i have time to prioritize and increase my training for a good 10 months at LEAST.
so thank you for that helpful and relevant response.:lol:
anyone else here that admits that theyre an easy-gainer, just are too lazy to keep up with a regiment?
usually thats endomorphs right? or whatever kind that gains fat quickly too?
you know, i was kind of skeptical about your skills until you posted that. you sound like you’ve taken your share of punches to the dome, at least.
seriously though, good luck. people from my gym usually don’t start fighting amateur mma until about a year and a half of training, and that’s if they’ve been training six days a week. everywhere is different, i guess.
do you think, if you work out lots but dont eat as much protein as you should, or you often work the same muscle groups two days in a row (over-tearing)…that you’ll gain strength and not size?
that wouldnt be optimal by any means of course
