It’s a weight gainer so I’d avoid it. Has a load of carbs (though in 4 scoops) and it’s not worth it.
Muscle Milk is a little high in saturated fat. A casein powder with digestive enzymes would be best since you usually take it before bed. It’s just good ol’ protein.
If it’s really a battle to get to the gym, buy some adjustable dumbbells and a bench (assuming you can). It’s definitely a hassle to get to the gym if your busy with other things.
Twice a day isn’t gonna be enough. For breakfast, if you have no time to spare then make it quick with cereal, milk, and a piece of fruit (Multigrain Cheerios are good). It’s better than nothing in the morning. Ideally, 5 meals a day would yield greater results. If you eat 3 times a day, supplement 2 with meal replacements, snacks, or your own custom shakes.
It can’t beat the gym, but it would help if you have no other means of exercising. Weightless squats and fast-paced jump roping be done at home too.
The thing is, I actually liked Muscle Milk and think it was helping. My tub of it is about to run out, so I was going to order more, but then I wondered if something specifically geared towards adding lean muscle would be better. I already take regular whey protein, although I know the difference between that and casein. I’m still going to have to think about this…
That should be fine. There’s also Muscle Milk Light which has less sugar and saturated fat if you wanna stick with that.
I recently heard it’s good to switch up your protein supplements after every tub to get the most benefits. Apparently, your body develops food tolerances quite easily. So after going through a tub of casein, try some soy protein, and then something else after that.
Hmm, I’m thinking about ordering some Cytogainer and Casein. Cytogainer for either mornings or random protein feedings throughout the day, and the casein for right before bed. Fuck though, that’s like $80, although it’s going to last longer if the use is split up. Muscle Milk Light really doesn’t appeal to me because it’s not like regular MM was making me gain fat or anything (like I said, it seemed to have some effect).
Thanks for the advice, but still thinking about it.
I hear ya, its hard to get to the gym after work/school but I guess it just boils to how bad you want or need it. If I don’t workout for 2 days I start feeling like shit, I take Sat and Sun off and workout Mon-Fri, once Sunday night rolls around I’m like this sucks I need to hit the weights.
Do you want to be more lean? You definitely need to eat more and breakfast is a must. I mean whatever works for you, but I do think eating at least 4 meals a day will help you lose weight. Drinking only water is great, an occasional diet soda isn’t gonna kill you.
The boos I can sympathize, I only drink one night a week if any. Its either friday night or saturday night, both are so I won’t be working out the next day as I’m just lazy from drinking the night before. I’ve lost over 60 lbs through the course of 3-4 years, and I didn’t have to give up the stuff I love to eat or drink. Although I did cut back. Taking a multi is good.
I don’t think pushups and situps will get the job done, but then again I don’t know what you’re looking for in terms of results. If time is a factor in the gym try and do a few compound exercises and then hit the cardio and call it a day. Let me know your schedule and I’ll get more specific in terms of the workouts I’d recommend.
As for the alcohol, apparently vodka is the “cleanest”, the majority of the liquors are about 64 calories per shot. I usually do 2-3 shots of rum and diet sprite. 2 of those bad boys and I’ve got a nice buzz going, am not hungover the next day, and its not that bad for you. Maybe 350 calories or so.
i dont think its possible to be 10% bodyfat and not have abs.
kinda funny story unless its happen to one of yall. i was on the stairmaster and in front of me was a girl leaving the treadmills and another guy getting on going hard core from the first second. about 2-3 minutes into it his foot catches the side of the treadmill and he EATS the fucking track on the treadmill and flys back about a good 4 feet. it was hard to hold the laughter, i knew he wasnt hurt cuz he got up quick and tried to play it off. he got back on the treadmill and slowed down, then 5 minutes later he leaves. i feel sorry for that guy, i really do.
So then what should I be doing? Did I miss out on something growing up cause a lot of the 140-150 pound crowd are lean and most have never even worked out so wtf is wrong with me lol.
Lifting weights doesn’t seem to be helping, especially since my numbers never go up no matter how hard I push it…
I remember early in the thread Romie advising to stay away from soy products because they promote estrogen or something like that. I thought edamame would make for a good healthy snack cuz they’re real fuckin’ delicious and clean but I don’t want to produce no female hormones and augment my man boobs I’m trying to lose T.T
That’s why I avoid the treadmill. I’m a klutz by nature, so I stick with bikes. It’s harder to screw up that way.
I haven’t heard that. The only thing I heard about soy protein is that it’s harder to process it into actual muscle mass than whey, which is why whey is usually a better choice.
Although considering Asian people’s high intake of soy and our rather, um, unimpressive physical features, there may be some legitimate claim to the whole estrogen thing.
Not sure about that, but it would have to be a substantial amount of soy to promote that much estrogen in your body. Oh and I meant using it as a protein for making meal replacements shakes, not post-workout. Should have mentioned that before.
But yes, I would suggest lifting heavier with less sets, stop drinking beer, and once you feel you have gained a significant amount of strength, go into a cutting cycle. The cutting cycle should really see the fat melt away and the muscle you built during your strength/gain cycle will start to show.
And for the record, I’m 155lbs with 14% body fat. I don’t know if that is good or not, but I look fat sometimes and really thin some other times. Could just be my perception.
I think I’m just small jointed so like I’d have to be like 130-140 to look lean at this point. I’m going to start lifting heavy again while trying to keep boxing going at the same time.
I’ll keep the calories low and see where I end up.
fish oil is never bad for you right? this korean places down the block sells live salmon fish and I am eating this like everyday.
also anybody know anything about “fresca” soda ?? it has nothing…no calories/sugar/fat. just carbonated water and “natural grapefruit flavor” or something. I am trying to cut down on soda but I gotta drink something…cant be having water all the time.
and any reason to get organic pasta and eggs over regular stuff ??
