-- Weightlifting & Nutrition Thread -- v9.0 Optimized

Sorry i dont have time to read the pages of this thread that i’ve missed, but, Could someone please recommend how to work out my lower chest?

I’ve been benching (incline and flat) and also using the butterfly thing (laying down style, not sitting) and i’ve seen a huge improvement in the mass of muscle in my chest, but i think maybe its not working the lower part enough.

I know that the biggest part of my problem is fat, but i’m working on that too.

Thanks for any advice.

That’s easy enough. Decline bench presses (feet are higher than head), decline dumbell presses, and if your gym has a cable machine that has swiveling arms, your can do standing cable presses to focus on the bottom of your chest.

That’s fine. Into a workout routine, you’ll never get as sore as you get in the first 2-4 weeks. Just remember to switch up the order of your excersizes every 4 weeks to keep your body in check. Aside from that, as long as you’re on point with your tempo, form, and weight amount, you’ll be fine.

zero, he was responding to someone who asked how to workout lower chest…

im outi

Oh.

Then I’ll simply delete that part of my post, then.

being sore does not = a good workout

as long as you work out hard, soreness is irrelevant.

Does anyone else here powerlift or am I the only one?

HOw are those MetRx protein bars for you after a workout and in general? I doubt Cookie dough could be that good for you. It’s the ones for muscle strength btw that come in a red wrapper.

I take Nitro Tech , makes me fart death. I’ve lost about 90 lbs gone from 300 to 210 lbs. I’d like to lose another 10-15 any really low calorie protein? Nitro Techs got 100 calories per serving which is not that bad. Since these last 10 lbs arent coming off any suggestions would be great.

What i would LOVE to get is that stomach-staple surgery or whatever its called. In fact i plan on it, one day when i can afford such a thing.

can someone hook me up with some weight-gain tips? i’m sure there’s a lot in this thread but i haven’t been keeping up and i don’t have two hours to read the whole thing. i’m doing protien shakes 3x a day and i’m doing some low-rep exercises but i’m not putting on any weight.

i guess i’m asking what foods should i be eating to increase my lbs. i’m not worried if it’s high in fat.

I have a pretty simple question. I’m trying to lose weight. Should i do ONLY cardio and no weight lifting or should i mix it up? My goal is to lose weight as quickly as possible, so shouldn’t i spend all my time on cardio? Also, i can get away with eating 2 small salads and some fruit each day, but will it hurt if i’m not getting any meat? I weigh around 300 and would love to get down between 200-250, then hit some weights after that maybe.

THANKS!!

I used to lift weight heavy (max bench was 405) but was a 300 lb slob. I tore my shoulder up about a year ago and could not lift so I started doing heavy cardio -about 45 minutes 5 days a week- and lost a ton of weight. I’m between 205 and 210 now. When I was lifting heavy I could not lose the weight. I did nothing but cardio lost most of it and now I’m back into lifting and have not gained anything back but have stopped losing weight. Fucking last 10 pounds are a bitch to lose.

If you’re trying to lose weight, cardio is the way to go in the beginning. Once you’ve lost a bit, start some light lifting. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn to keep that muscle healthy, which slightly increases the amount of calories you burn daily, but not by a whole lot.

Do a lot of cardio, as Twelve pointed out, 45 minutes of cardio a day 4-5 days a week can do a lot if you eat sensibly.

Well ur on point with the protein shakes, but don’t let those replace meals, and when you do drink them, make them with whole milk for the extra nutritional value, makes em taste pretty good too IMO…creatine in general helps most people put on a few pounds and get considerably stronger.

How much do you weigh now and how tall are you?? How much do you want to weigh?? And what kinda weight are you trying to put on?? Just WEIGHT in general? Or are you working out and trying to put on lean mass…or just any mass at all???

Do you really have cancer?

yeah i forgot to mention that, my milk is pure homo. (tastes WAY better that way too)

wtf is creatine please?

i’m 5"10 and 135lbs :((( had a REALLY bad cold last month and lost 10 pounds, trying to get that back and maybe 10-15 more. i don’t care what kind of weight i put on. i can’t get fat anyways, it’s not possible for me. i’m working out but i’m not trying to get built or anything, just maintaining a 6-pack and my little girly tits.

yeah do you think the hourly kemotherapy might be part of the reason for my weight problem? :wow:

no i don’t have cancer.

Cool, so what is classified as heavy cardio? Would a fast pace on an exercise bike do it or what? I’m not really in shape to jog much distance/time at all, but the biking i could do.

Any suggestions? 'preciate it.

Time to shortcut through this thread.

I’m a little tired of trying to piece-by-piece my way into losing my holiday fat (it’s June, after all), so I’m ready to go all out. I’ll be buying some exercise equipment and gradually modifying my diet. I’ve got a couple of questions for people that may have been answered somewhere in the thread, but I really can’t afford to go through it all right now.

First off, does anybody have any suggestions on inexpensive home gyms? I recently got to use a Bowflex and am looking for something similar, but a hell of a lot cheaper. Also, the less space they take up, the better. Saw this today when I was out, and that’s in the vein of what I’m looking for, though I don’t know how good that particular one is.

Also, anybody have any good, safe suggestions of weight loss or fat burning supplements to help accelerate the weight loss process? No, I’m not planning on trying to lose 10 pounds a week eating junk and not exercising, but i figure if I can lose 4 pounds in a week instead of 3, well…that’s good.

Thanks in advance to anybody who responds.

Exercise machines are a bit of a scam. You’d get much better results with a regular old bench, a pair of dumbells, and and a barbell. You can get all that stuff for under $100 and could do 10 times the exercises compared to a machine.

Losing weight isn’t as daunting as it seems. Stick to food with nutritional value. Try to stay away from dumping empty calories into your body (i.e. Junk food). Don’t try to mentally abuse yourself dieting. Be practical.
The other half of the equation is staying active. A proper diet will help you lose some of the weight, but without regular activity to burn those calories off, it’s all for naught. Keep it together and you’ll shrink down to a natural healthy weight.

To the guy trying to gain weight: Get a good sized tub of creatine monohydrate, follow the directions, and drink about 7-9 glasses of water (not milk, soda, or juice. WATER!) a day with that. Eat 2-3 good sized meals a day and 2-3 more small ones and you should be able to put on a good 8-10 pounds in a month at least. If that fails, get on the juice :badboy:
