Weekly Fighting Game Club - currently playing: Sailor Moon Super S

Seems I’ll be pretty busy most of this week, midsummer celebration/work among other things…

So we could either take a break for a week(which is good sometimes, maybe) or you guys can pick something and I’ll play what little I can, but in that case I want replays to watch

Well the choices thrown out were Asura Buster, Astra Superstars, and Sailormoon.

Watch a youtube video of one, then vote. XD

I vote Astra Superstars.

As a random newcomer I vote for Sailor Moon Super S Zenin Sanka, I said it in another thread already but I’m curious to see that game torn apart. I’ve had some good fun with it in the past, would be nice to see how it fares on a higher level.

One fun thing about it is you get a “stats wheel” and can put points into certain aspects of your fighter (health, special damage, normal damage, super damage, “clumsiness” and defense).

Here’s some FAQs on it, including a combo FAQ: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/game/575571.html

If we go with Sailor Moon, I’m going to main Mars, she has Cammy’s throw. XD

so did this die? i was particularly busy in the past 2-3 weeks because i had finals and a project and whatnot but now i’m done so lets get some games in

who’s up for it? i’ll settle for this terribleass sailor moon game if you guys want

Yin is busy and I have been working more hours at work. MJ’s recent passing away probably diverted alot of attention as well.

Yeah, real sorry I let the thread die guys… The company I worked at went belly up (expected since long, I was prepared, don’t worry), so things are a bit weird…
So with applying for jobs, working on my portfolio and SFIV pc release (finally), I probably won’t have much time to act as the “leader”… But if you guys get this going, I’ll certainly try to make some time for it. After all, I love me some odd fighting games.

That pretty much sucks. =/ Good luck on finding a job ASAP.

As for games, I wouldn’t mind giving that Sailor Moon game a try. If it turns out to be too wack/broken, off to Asura Blade (or Buster).

Wait, so which Sailormoon are we doing?

Officially down as said before.

its alright dude i let stuff die all the time and i dont even have a reason.
definitely good luck with job search though

super S for the snes

i’m thinking of maining uranus, she has infinites with her forward dash
also, sailor moon appears to be able to throw a fireball and then “Dash” forward and combo after…

most of the characters only have backdash and not forward dash… odd.

Alrite lets do Sailor Moon, maining Mars.:stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll just figure out whoever is god mode and use them as always.

I’m sorry I’ve been gone lately, been too busy with work and recently Blazblue.

If I run into people in the channel I’ll be game. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ahh you got Blazblue early?

We need to get some games on when I get my copy kenny.

Ok, here are some game play notes for Super Sailormoon.

  • Back dashes are invincible. They have instant start up and seem to only have a few frames of vulnerability at the end.

  • Projectiles overall are lackluster. They have quite a bit of recovery time.

  • Jumping is crappy overall. Very little arc to them. Trying to jump over a projectile often ends with you landing right on it.

  • Throws can be teched. Hit D+A+B when you are actually thrown. The timing is similar to ST.

  • Normals can be special cancelled.

  • Seems like all weak attacks chain together easily. Heavy attacks must be linked into for them to combo.

  • Crossups exist.

  • Basic ST 50/50 guessing games between pokes or grabs.

  • Game feels like it will be very normal centric since specials are kind meh outside of combos or use at full screen.

I haven’t played it long and I already see a tier list forming.

Uranus definitely sits at God tier status while Chibi Moon is at the bottom.

you sure backdashes have invincibility all the way at the start? I successfully was doing throwloops on my friend irl and I told him to backdash and he couldn’t do it… maybe he just sucks though.

I tested it by myself.

You can just mash the backdash.

Was your friend trying to time the backdashes or just mash them out?

Also you might just be able to hold up, but that didn’t work when I tested it.

Anyone played Makeruna Makendou 2? I was dicking around with this game last night and it’s kinda wierd. A lot of chains are links instead of cancels

Sailor Jupiter has the best cross up combo in the game. I can’t remember what she crosses up with, but after it do QCF lk. After a cross up it hits way more times than it usually does. You can can combo even more hits after that but I forgot how…
