Weekly Fighting Game Club - currently playing: Sailor Moon Super S

No juggles are guaranteed thanks to air teching.

Someone play me in this plz.

I want to play you.

Do you have a aim?

The white hair Guy, I’m assuming he is Yusuke’s father from what I remember, so I’ll call him that, since the guide says unknown.

-His L.punch and C.h.kick go straight though the opponent if too close, doing no damage.

-While in the animation his C.h.kick next to the opponent they can’t hit him with anything, he can only be grabbed.

-His Jumping dive move can’t be combo’d, it has terrible start up, can only be used close range, and is easily punished.

-His C.H.punch most of the time has no hitback at all, guard or not, making him a ultimate tick thrower.

-His fire stomp is bad, it doesn’t even hit low, even though it looks like it should, and has a long start up time.

It does nice chip damage though, but it can easily be jumped over

Anyone awake? I’m up for some matches. twitch I have work in two hours so I have time to kill.

I would like to play.

Do you have a aim?

Fire stomp is good.

Don’t just look at start up time.

Notice how fast Raizen recovers after he uses it.

Notice he is a charge character so the long start-up of fire stomp is actually beneficial to his gameplay.

Notice how he can chase behind slow stomps. This makes it good for pressure.

Always…ALWAYS look at a characters movelist and their attributes so you can get a feel for what each and every move would be good for before you deem it useless.

Predacon do you know how to get into the IRC channel?

Check out the first page and it ill tell you.

I’ll be home from work in 8 hours so I’ll play people then.

BTW I said this before but the white haired demon’s name is Raizen. He is technically Yusuke’s ancestor, but Raizen always thought of Yusuke as a son.

Also here is the code for the secret character named Yakamo.

Y (x7), X (x6), A (x5)

Don’t worry. It’s not a waste of time like it was in Karatebu. Yakamo is actually a fucking beast.

Also I was playing with Mukuro last night for fun. Hahah, chick is easy mode.

The difference between top tiers and below is astounding in this game IMO.

And what tier is Youko Kurama?
I would like to say mid… But I really have no idea. He doesn’t seem to have anything really crazy going for him.

He is a little better then mid IMO.

But, we’ll see.

He has a few good normals, although they lack reach and his jump ins are either or crappy or mediocre depending on which one you use.

Be he has some solid specials. Namely that dash punch and his throw sets up for wake up game very very nicely so it’s easy for him to keep momentum.

His c.lp and c.hk hit 3 times and 2 times respectively making them excellent meaty attacks on wake-up.

He is also one of the few guys with an invincible move.

Well I didn’t say it was useless, it travels under other fireballs.

Also I got a IRC program, just not sure how to set it up yet. ;_;

:frowning: I missed this, and I went to play Final Fantasy 4 The after years.

I’m up for playing most of tonight if you catch me on, my AIM is kenmastersX218 and I’m idling in the irc chat atm. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yusuke is a beast in this game.
SPRI-GAWN!!! the weak version juggles against corners and if you have enough energy you can use shotgun as well. It causes resets often if you juggle with it ho. Pretty weird.

Yusuke is not that good.

lol. Juggles.

I’ve browsed this thread and I just want to say that this is a great idea and hope it becomes successful. Personally, this is what the UFGL should have been. If this was 1 or 2 years ago, I would definitely have been on this, but there are too many new fighters coming out that have potential competition in them. I expect EmblemLord to beast in these games, as this is his specialty.

If you want a huge list of nearly all fighting games, you should see my thread. I haven’t updated it in a year, but there hasn’t been any SNES, or older console fighters that have came out.

NO JOHNS!!!

Get your ass in this thread and play some obscure fucking fighting games DAMMIT!!!

Me and Emblem are probably going to keep playing this after this week. lol

Good games to me and predacon, even though I think we took like half and hour of setting up and troubleshooting. Note to everyone, zsnes netplay wants the rom files to have the exact same name, even if the checksum is similar the filename has to be the same.

When I sent predacon the game through irc, the fact that the spaces got changed into underscores made a difference. It is totally retarded, but make note of this for future reference.

Hit boxes are so important in this game it’s ridiculous.

With regular Kurama I can do throw into walk forward standing hp or hk on Hiei full screen, but not on other characters. (I didn’t test this out on everyone, but it was how I was getting random damage on him.) I also managed to get Kurama’s instant dizzy from throw midscreen, since it’s the same animation as standing hp.

Also, random projectiles can be whiffed if you just crouch instead of you crouch-blocking them. Cept for the little kid, who can just stand under them.

Clashes are so silly in this game. A normal can be clashed with dash, and apparently two air normals with the same priority hitting each other works also. So learn how to mash buttons. I’ve lost to every clash outside of me playing against Yin. :frowning:

So character specific matchups based on what you can hit them with will be important in the long run, if anyone plays that long. lol

normal Kurama is definitely better than Youko Kurama after playing with both a bit, I’ll do a writeup later.

Yeah Hiei would have been amazing if his sword acted like a sword and didn’t actually count as a hitbox.

When I attempted to tier this years ago I had both Hiei and Kurama as high tier, but now I think I may move Hiei down to mid while Kurama stays in high.

Honestly when I played Ken we would go neck and neck but then he would catch me with stuff that he could abuse while Hiei really isn’t an abusive character at all.

Anyway, here is some quick stuff on the really shitty characters that you shouldn’t even bother playing.

Kuwabara - Horrid normals and specials. He can’t throw so his offense isn’t threatening. His projectile can be beaten out by damn near every other projectile and is easily ducked. His only good quality is his slide kick, but he is still unplayable. He really can’t deal with throw set-ups at all, since he can’t attempt a reverse throw.

Shigure - Same as Kuwabara but with better specials and better frame traps. Still , like Kuwabara he can’t throw so once he is pinned he is pretty much screwed.

Shura - He is the little kid and the son of Yomi. Just crappy ass normals and his specials are average. His double disc controls alot of space but has poor recovery. Flame kick is used for getting in since it can go over lows, but it must be spaced well to be safe and his Bomb Flare Attack has some nice invincibility at the end, but leaves him wide open in the beginning.

Yomi - The blind demon who wears the oriental garments. Has a ground projectile and he can absorb energy projectiles to fill his ki guage. His Kanji Explosion isn’t very good. His normals are very awkward and are pretty much the worst in the game. He does have one of the best rush combos though. Still his faulty fundamentals make him trash.

So the lower tiers look like this imo.

Low tier - Yomi, Shura
Trash Tier - Shigure
Gutter Trash Tier - Kuwabara

You could probably throw Yusuke into low tier as well, since Shotgun blast and Energy Uppercut leave him wide open and they aren’t that great in the first place. His normals are pretty average as well.

I throw up the recommendation for next week’s fighting game to be Ranma Bun no 1 - Chogi Ranbu Hen. It’s a neat SF style game. A little slower, but it’s still good.

Either that, or the Super Sailor Moon fighting game. The specials are soooo bad in that game you shouldn’t cancel your normals into them or you’d be at disadvantage.

We should do Astra Superstars.

GGs to Loler whom I just played in both YuYu(a bit laggy though) and Karatebu(less laggy, Loler upped the Latency number)!

I’m starting to really love Youko Kuramas dash uppercut.
