My younger brother have this game. It a good game but its’ pretty difficult. My best characters were Jen-Tai and Korr. I like th fatalities. IMO there where the easiest ever. just K.O. the opponent in the second round and hit him/her with a certain move.
Anyone seen one of Zarak’s fatalitles? I did one with the “Web rip” move and he completly covers your body in spider web… How do you die from that?
and I heard that there are “frenizies” or something like that? and that wepons can get cut in half. Anyone got vids of these? Thanks.
^Being covered in thick spider web can cause suffocation, especially if Zarak sneaks lil creepy crawlies in there. If you time it right, he can also take it a step further and hack the web in two(which is why I’m still trying to track down those old gamespot articles with the barbaric combos.
At the moment after Zarak’s Web-Rip finishes covering his opponent, you’ll want to do his Guillotine Strike (charge down 1 second while holding B2 or B3 and press Up, Up-Forward) to cut them in half.
Weapons can be broken, and its normally just the tip of their blade, and aside from losing some reach, the damage per attack is also decreased.
-In WL very character has 1 normal attack that will, how shall I say, catch or freeze your opponents normal attack for about 1/3 of a second, IF you perform the Special Attack that will Break their weapon as both of you are going weapon-to-weapon.
EDIT: I was looking at my faq, and I made a mistake, the second part for Zarak’s 2 part fatality should be Zarak’s Widow Grip, not his Guilootine Strike. My fault.
Weaponlord vids(mostly barbaric combos, though one has weaponbreaks in it as well, don’t really see any barber moves)
Lol, got an itch to play weaponlord again with AoC due out next month. Really wish I could get the Destiny Battle track >_<. Some crraaaaaaazzzzyy combos in that last vid
I really think that we should start playing this on Kaillera. I remember having a lot of fun with this game and I’m sure some serious competition would be awesome!
So, what do you say about setting up an IRC or some way to find matches and playing this occasionally?
I loved this game but could never find anyone to play with, and get bored with CPU’s so fast. It was very unique and deep. Good game, would love to see it again.
Besides the sound quality what is the difference between the SNES and Genesis versions? I like the controls better on a 6 button Genesis controller but yeah… Anything besides what I see here?
Or any other information besides the stuff on Gamefags? I’m having fun messing around with it but haven’t convinced anyone that it’d be worth the time when they could be playing newer stuff. But I mean, game balance is good enough to where every character has a chance at winning, right?
Site was in the older weaponlord thread, did some searching and came across it.
Fired up weplord again today, oh how I love CPU’s that actually played intelligently and could legtimately counter all your shit and dismember you.
Still wish I knew Zarak’s barber move
EDIT: Slackers has the snes cart for 8 bucks, might go ahead and pick that up so I can play the snes version as well :].(While no doubt getting my head split open on the first stage like usual)
If you ever lost to the computer you PRAYED that the screen wouldn’t go dark…otherwise, game over.
WL was on of the more engaging 1-player experiences in fighting game history. Got intense real fast…
I’m actually pretty impressed (looking at that website) at the Genesis version’s screenshots…they aren’t THAT much inferior to the SNES screens. Heck, the sprites are the same size, at least. Don’t know why they compressed the backgrounds, though…
-The Damage Ratio is twice that in the Genesis version then in the Snes.
-The game speed for the Genesis version is slightly faster then the Snes.
-I would put Korr slightly above the rest of the cast as his overall range and speed on his normal attacks (especially his F3 & B3 slashes) are some of the fastest in the game.
-He has good, easy to execute, high damaging non-technical combos.
-Korr’s range can actually work against him, as 5 out of 6 of his slashes leave him open for having his Weapon broken, as this effects him the most out of all of the characters.
-Korr’s the most user friendly and easiest character to learn in WeaponLord.
