After about 400 matches, I ended up going with Doom. Arthur’s assist was awesome when powered up, but before that point it lost to a lot of other assists like Sentinel Force, and I just can’t have that happen. Too many lost happy birthday opportunities.

You also get access to Doom’s TAC combos which can help mitigate Ghost Rider’s mediocre damage.

I pretty much never TAC. I’m not big on the gamble. That’s why I tend to play characters that offer solid and reliable play with fewer opportunities to open people up. I’ll grind my foe down eventually!

Fair enough. Probably a better idea to not TAC with Ghost Rider anyway since he can’t do it in every direction. Sometimes it’s just hard to not get that kill when you really want it though!

He can’t TAC in every direction? Oh man, I have to test this the next time I play…

He technically can but the TAC attack animation for his up and side TACs are his jump H and jump M. Both have terrible hit boxes and are very inconsistent after an extended combo. The side is more reliable then the up but will still drop if you aren’t far enough above the opponent. It’s so sad!

You can also dhc whiff Hellfire Maelstrom om the last hit into franks camera. its easier in the corner but can be done mid screen as well. My GR/frank/skrull team gets guaranteed lvl 4 frank off maelstorm

this is a pretty tght link. i mean in the corner its easy, but i’ve never done it anywhere else. u have a vid of doing this midscreen? i dont use skrull so i dont have access to that second snapshot,but still want to see how u are getting a picture off of a whiffed TOS in the mid screen (following maelstrom)

The Timing is tight, as soon as the final hit of maelstorm connects for the knockdown you have have to immediately dhc into tools.

ah so cancel like immediately… ive been cancelling during the animation where the opponent goes to the ground, and they always seem to have this weird ground bounce wehre they flip out and recover. gonna go to the lab and practice this… hopefully there is a way to work doom beam earlier in the combo

the best Modok assist for ghost rider hands down is barrier.

Problem with beam is that its hitbox is too high so it doesn’t hit small characters and the beam pushes back a lot on hit, making it problematic to combo with. (it can be done but the timing is fairly strict compared to the leniency of other beams)

Bomb is pretty decent although I personally have not found a way to combo it that does a significant amount of damage increase compared to an assistless bnb. If anyone has a variation i’d love to see it.

Barrier however is good. ghost rider can keep the assist call fairly safe by choosing normals wisely and it just really helps neutral a lot. just thought i’d bring it up.

I would go for Balloon Bomb, personally.

For GR, paired with good GTFO me assists he is top tier, if played correctly since he can zone very well. he is very good with either of the sons of sparda (jam session, or rapid slash, maybe both), sentinel drones, akumas tatsu, the possibilities are endless. Also his medium normals move him forward so if you want to kill a character when they are closing in on you, time it right, hit one of the medium attacks and go straight into penance stare because its a grab, and after the kara attack they want to block whatever comes next, if they push block, you could always wing it from there, throw out an assist, xfactor, or hit launcher, they are all generally safe considering the opponent has to get back in your face after the push block. This is what I have had the most success with, it may or may not work for everybody

I’m trying to learn Ghost Rider and I could use some help concerning my team. I recently got the game for vita and decided to learn a new team…

So my team is
Ghost Rider (Heartless Spire)
Dante (Jam Session)
Dormammu (Dark Hole)

Overall the team has success on being defensive, I have troubles getting in with Ghost Rider on point however. Any suggestions?

Jumping S will be your friend, plus you shouldn’t really be worried about GR getting in because he is one of the only characters that can full screen hit confirm. Considering is standing and crouching H reach pretty much full screen. So just use his bnb using his standing hs, and try to extend it with jam session, or even throw sentinel drones in there just for the heck of it. You can even use spencer to help pull them in, which I don’t know why you would do that but we have seen a rocket raccoon player beat fillipino champ so whatever works for you I guess, but jumping is will help hit confirm

Start walking back before the match starts try to predict their opening move. Jam session plus jumping s, jumping h, crouching h or spire all have their uses. Get some match up experience and find what works best for you against teleports and beam assists. If all else fails super jump the fuck out of there and try to jockey for position. Keeping your opponent locked down is your number one goal, once you have frustrated the other player then you can really start catching them with crouching h and jumping s both of which lead to real proper damage. my team is GR/NOVA/DEADPOOL… and i got a combovideo… take a look!!

Its a long story but I wanted to make a fun an entertaining team cuz idc much for marvel but still want to play with my crowd without getting bended into a pretzel. I’m thinking of some mock up teams:

GR/Arthur/doom
GR/strange(bolts or eye)/doom
GR/Trish/doom

I know doom is pretty popular but he’s my best + fav plus doom missles is heavenly. But one of my questions is do I need a gtfo assist or should I focus on the space control? What can I expect being a GR user (I used him when he first came out, trying to go pro, that didn’t work out like I imagined o.o)

GTFO assists are worthy, or an additional combo extension assist.  Strange with Eye will probably work and let you confirm combos off of ground throws (that aren’t just Dash, Spirit of Vengeance).  I use Dark Hole for that effect.<div><br></div><div>I’ve been thinking tatsu would be a decent GTFO assist for GR, very easy to confirm H off of hits.  And you’re not stuck with Haggar.</div>
