We need more ST players in Seattle

DSP plays DeeJay? news to me!

I was starting to think no one else realized the power of the D

I really like deejay too, after having experimented with him last gathering. I’ll be playing him tonight.

Haha. DSP… that guy annoys the hell out of me. He used to be beastly in ST, though. Took 2nd place at Evo once.

I picked up CCC2 today on a whim. I was meaning to get it back when it first came out, but I kinda had a “fighting game emo” moment around that time and despised how scrubby I was.

Now if I can only find people to play ST with in my area.

I can’t even beat Julien one game.

don’t sweat it, I can’t either

he beats me with my own character

Sunday is a go for me, if you are still planning to meet up.

Yeah who is down for sunday, 2pm-midnight?

Also anyone who I consider cool enough to hang out on sunday is cool enough to come GET FUCKED UP drunk on tuesday at my place for pre-4th of july.

guess i aint cool :frowning:

I’d like to go on Sunday, but have to hold my response until other factors work themselves out. Are there sticks, or will people have to go pad-warrior style?

Can someone teach me a new character? Bitch ass busters like Pablo have informed me that Claw is considered to be cheap, so I need to take up someone else. Wish someone had informed me of this when I took up the game a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn’t have embarrassed myself by pouring Velveeta on ya’ll if that were the case. So why did you guys teach me a character (the first character that the Seattle ST players opted to teach me) that would lead to my alienation? Is it because I play Marvel, perhaps?

Ryu and Sagat seem too repetitive for my taste, though I guess I could play them. I just don’t like sitting back and forcing the other person to wade through an ocean of projectiles, only to run away and do it over again. Boxer and Dictator both seem broke-good, but learning them requires more rote combo executions against computer drones rather than live human targets. I’d prefer a more fundamentals driven character. Someone fundamental like Ryu/Sagat, but less boring. Any recommendations?

Julien was looking over some frame data site for ST yesterday. Can someone link me?

Play Cammy or Fei-Long, they’re considered the worst characters in the game. xD

I thought that Blanka, T-Hawk, and Cammy were the worst. In that order. I also heard that Fei Long could tear people apart if the player were Japanese.

Regardless, I’m Chinese, so there’s no fucking way I’d play Fei Long. That would be like a black person playing as Aunt Jemaima, a white person playing as Col. Sanders, or a Mexican playing T-Hawk. BTW, if you’re from Brazil and play Street Fighter, sucks to be you. You’re represented by Blanka. Still, it’s not as bad as Jamaica.

Play Honda?

Well, as a Chinaman, the atavistic draw to shit on Japanese is a strong pull. Sure, Honda it is. Projectiles p0wn me.

Almost forgot about his fat ass. Damn, sucks to be Japanese and an SF fan as well.

I was kidding. Only cool thing about ST Honda is the same as ST Chun and he can store his super.

Uh, iunno really. I’d say Ken or something like that…but from the sounds of it you want to play a non-projectile character. Or…not so projectile based like Ken/Ryu/Dhalsim/Sagat/Guile which is understandable. The play style with them is stale and boring.

Fuck the hataz that say Claw is cheap though. Play what wins/feels comfortable.

That’s why I play DeeJay in ST. He may be crappy-esque, but I have fun, I feel safe when I play him and I win (occasionaly)

if Claw is cheap I’m using him from now on. I thought he wasn’t considered cheap anymore, tho’?

was it this?

I can most likely make it on Sunday, and I can bring my sticks if we need them

crappy?

excuse me, the Jamaican god of rhythm is not crappy

tsk tsk

DeeJay seems pretty solid to me. He’s got nice pokes, multiple ways to advance while maintaining his charge, ways to advance through fireballs (as exhibited at the last tournament by Alex–to my amazement), beefy combos/punish, and reliable juggles with his AA. Too bad his in game sprite is ugly. If he were not, I’d take him up in place of Claw in a heartbeat. I’m almost tempted to play him, but don’t want to get shanked if I were to pick him in public (i.e. at a con or tournament).

Thanks for the link, Alex. I’m sure I can pull the double flip kick now that I know the frame data for it. If people don’t mind putting up with Claw for a few more games until I have it down. Then, if we’re both at Julian’s on Sunday, you can teach me Mr. Ugly. We’ll see if I can handle the rhythm.

Keith keep using Vega please. Seriously, no need to change characters.
