We need more ST players in Seattle

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of me playing ST tomorrow. Give Mandel a call at…

206-369-8324
or
253-709-5953

I have the day off ya’lls!

by tomorrow you mean wednesday, right?

that’s when the serious shit is goin down

Well yeah you’re right about that. In the USA, arcades are dead as far as I can tell. But I meant that there’s locations where people gather and play competitively (Zach’s). And there is now a second location, at least for ST (and CotA  )

No yours is third (but best) cus I have gatherings at my place too. ST in Seattle is comming up!

BTW I can’t post that often cus my computer is broken, so just wanted to say great gatherings for games both at my house last weekend and at Zach’s last night.

Keith was wrecking shit and Alex was actually TALKING, which is pretty bops. I as usual played like the 2-and-out warrior that I am. Meh.

I guess I should start playing Mike Tyson again eh? M.bison/Balrog FTW lol!

I find it kinda interesting that Seattle’s gaining so much interest in ST. I’ll definitely throw some of my concentration/time into this game when I’m able to. It’s a very fun game to play when I’m burned out on Marvel. I just gotta find a secondary character I actually wanna stick with, but until then, it’s all Chun Li my niggas. And if I die, don’t cry my niggas!

Who should I play for a secondary peoples?
Bison?
Sagat?
Vega?
Guile?
suggestions?

I kinda think people like to sleep on Mandel in ST, but that’s cool!

JuliAn-You two and out? Shut up, you’ve placed higher than me at like every tourney except this last one we just had (where we tied). For as many times as I’ve “placed” in these tourneys, my name hasn’t even reached the top rankings yet.

I think the only time Julian went 2 and out was the last time Portland came to town. Hmmm, so now I see the source of his animosity towards the Portland crew. No wonder he was so quick to get on Raishinken. Incidentally, Deezo sent him to the losers that time.

Julian did make comments about how he was pulling a train when he reached 2 or 3 wins at Beasly’s. Heh heh.

Well the main thing to do is to pick a character you like… but for now I’ll assume you like them all equally, and I’ll answer in terms of tournament strengths. In picking a second for tournaments, you want to plug the holes that your main can’t fill. In chun’s case, let’s take a look at some of her harder matchups (I’m not saying she loses these per se, but they are the harder ones):

tough fights for chun li
*
Claw
O. Sagat
Ryu
Ken
Dictator*

Of the chars you mentioned, Dictator and Guile have the same tough matchups, so they wouln’t be great in terms of hole plugging. Boxer does too to a certain extent, but he’s also powerful enough to choose anyways. Some options to consider:
**
O. Sagat
Boxer
Ryu
Ken
Claw
Dhalsim
**
All of those chars complement Chun Li pretty nicely.

Thank you for the post good sir! Very much informative =]. Out of the people you mentioned I’m willing to try out:

O. Sagat
Ryu (he feels more solid than Ken.)
Ken (a longtime ago I used to be able to do short short super, definitely not now though =/)

I’ll mess around with them and see who I like better. Sagat might be too defensive for my liking. I’m hoping to make it out on Sunday and learn a bunch of shit.

lol. I use Ryu and Deejay, Deezo. Don’t feel bad.

I play deejay because he has rhythm.

Ryu has many options and makes the most of my sneaky mexican unorthodox play style.

However I could use more play time and am glad Julien is letting us go to his crib to engage in fisticuffs on his awesome cab.

Exactly. He’s the Cool Runnings of ST

I’m not tournament competive with any of those characters, but I can give you my perspective from playing against them. All of those characters are excellent choice at high levels… in other words, I’m scared of all 3 of them.

I would say that O Sagat has the most power, in that he will dominate the most matchups easily.

Ryu I would say is the most all around scary. It’s very, very, very difficult to beat a great Ryu with any character. Maybe Dhalsim, but I don’t know since I don’t play him.

Ken is the most aggressive character. He’s probably the weakest of the three, but he still is very scary. You’ll have to work more for your wins with him, but if you enjoy “rushdown”, he’s arguably the most fun.

Chun Li Is a GREAT Match up against Dhalsim…

I think for ST I’ll stick with Sagat. I seemed to get more wins with him. Then again who am I kidding I got wins with EVERYBODY :karate:

'cept 'Gief. He’s the most fun.

:wtf: @ Alex talking.

Oooh, those two sound really interesting suddenly, especially Ken. Yup, I’ll be trying those two out a lot in casual play tonight hahah.

Deezo, if you wanna learn Ken, watch Aniken videos.
He’s the best ST Ken in japan.

If you call seperate instances of shit talk for around a month where I don’t say anything “quick”. The tourney before last night he was talking shit, and that was when a few people spoke up about it, but he had been commenting on our videos talking shit for no reason before that. And I never commented on anybody else’s gameplay, I just said the disrespect we got was not cool and uncalled for. I didn’t talk any shit last night either, I don’t think “So portland is sweeping top 3, huh…” sarcastically counts as shit talk. I haven’t gotten on anyone or talked shit at all in Super Turbo.

I’d say in ST Seattle and Portland are 1-1, and Seattle is practicing ST a lot between Beaseley’s house and mine, so I think we will pretty much take the game over in the PNW.

Don’t talk shit about my 2-pieces, dawg. Actually on console I had more wins than that for a little while due to beasely not playing on console basically.

My new goals for ST:

-Get back into top 3 in overall rankings.
-Beat Nate head to head (I know I CAN do it theoretically, on paper, if I play absolutely flawlessly and he makes a few mistakes…but basically I have only ever won one of the matches ever against him, so it’d be a big milestone for me not to get SPD’d.)
-Stop losing matches that I should’ve won.
-Stop not knowing what to do and then doing something stupid just to do something…basically learn patience.
-Fix one of my 3 variously broken sticks and then practice the hell out of it so I don’t have execution problems anymore.

Yes, this needs to happen more often.

WTF man, explain exactly what is so entertaining about me playing KOF?

I was playing that game like ass last night though. It’s harder to go back to 2002 than any other game you haven’t played in a long time IMO. Just the controls are different than any other game feel-wise and also the commands for the moves are often weird.
