We Need More SFIV Players in Seattle

Come back when it has more art of war quotes and sandstorm.

Dude, I have to respect that guy. You won’t see me doing that. That is some serious balls to just put his shit out there like that. He just seems so candid about it. I can’t hate on that.

LOL@ that kid saying Kim Kardashian’s “FAT ASS!” as if it’s a BAD thing… I wonder if he liked Ray J’s physique better.

Dan’s Ultra beats out Akuma’s. I love this game.

I tried to learn how to play on a square gate on the new custom I just completed but even after two days still couldn’t get the 2x QCF motion for ultras down reliably :frowning:

Back to the octagon

I think you should give the square a month before going to octagons. That way you will be better on Japanese arcade cabinets, and every stock japanese stick. Then you will get the benefit of better corner feel for charge characters too.

At first double fireball was HELLA awkward on square gates for me too.

I dunno man. I put quite a long time into training mode, trying every different motion and I still couldn’t get it reliably, I don’t know how repetition is going to solve anything because it’s not a timing thing at all, maybe I just can get my wrist to move that way :annoy:

GGs to everyone at Paul’s last night. It was good to meet Cole and see Jason, everyone else again. Chicken parm was off the hook. TvC appetizer was fun too.

Paul is a great guy WHO SHOULD FREAKIN POST MORE. lol

A lot of good matches went down. It’s good for me to see how this game is played at a higher level.

Good shit!

it took only like 1 second of that video before i busted out laughing.

haha, that video was ridiculous.

It’s not repetition, it’s called muscle memory my dude. Your not gonna learn shit over one night…things aren’t learned like that, you need to give your brain some time to cool down and subconsciously take it in. Give the square gate about a week, and I guarantee you’ll start liking it more. And after the 2nd week, you’ll probably say that you much prefer it compared to the octagonal gate too.

Stick with the square. It will eventually become second nature. After you get used to the square gate an octagonal will feel hella sloppy.

Yeah, just make sure to overexaggerate your motions, as in making sure to hit down, down/forward, forward, then punch very slowly. and. deliberately.

If you just try a buunch of different ways and keep trying different ways then repitition is going to get you nowhere.

Gotta practice right for practice to make perfect.

God damn I cant stand playing on live. I can never find anyone better than 3/5 bars on ping and the lag kills me. I keep playing these people who just jump around and the worst part is I still lose to them half the time…getting stupid trades and the lag isn’t helping me play at all. Looking forward to friday more than ever now.

I’ve decided recently that I need to work on my game fundamentals more than anything because its things like execution, spacing, knowing when to rush down etc that are killing me the most and costing me my matches. Ive also noticed that I’ve been having trouble keeping charge and executing charge moves (ie. chun’s ultra) so I’ve been picking up Ryu recently. I still have a hard time playing correctly under pressure as well.

Hahah, alright, you guys convinced me, this’ll be the last preppy’s I play on with a octo.

Is this how it’s done? I don’t see how I can make that “L-shaped” motion quick enough for the ultra to come out. What I was trying to do was basically hit down-forward-down-forward using a diagonal motion as quickly as possible… sometimes it worked, sometimes not.

Mickey make me a how-to video. :china:

Sorry man, don’t have any art of war quotes or sandstorm :shake:

Don’t drag the stick along the sides of the gate, just do the motion with your wrist, away from the deep corners of the gate. It’s not an L-shaped motion, it’s the same motion as it was on an octagon gate except now you don’t have the gate to guide you/slow you down.

lmfao. naw, just english apparently.

I stumbled upon this Japanese Fei Long video and was planning on watching it until I saw that it was over 41 minutes long. So yeah, I’m definitely not that hyped off Fei Long. Here’s the video if anyone’s interested. You need a niconico account to watch it though.
