We Need More SFIV Players in Seattle

then you picked the wrong motha fucker to fuck with…

unfortunately i can’t come up with anything right now…so sorry to be a cock tease (yes homo…bitches)

If you’re looking to play a new game and you don’t want to act like you did in the old one, then a fresh start is perfectly in order. A la frank, find a new man to play with. If you’re used to charge characters maybe you could go 180 and play a command character, there are plenty to choose from and most of them are good.

This post transcends this thread, like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Excellent work, sir.

Seriously. Both sides are trying to put the ‘blame’ on the other when really it shouldn’t be like that. We put two explosive personalities together and a little misunderstanding, BAM the suckas got emeril’d. Except they kicked it up too many notches. Between this shit and scrubydan, I don’t like where SFIV is taking us. Let’s HD REMIX our attitudes guys.

Maybe we need sirlin to mediate.

and mandeezy don’t even try to monopolize our scene into sfiv. Hell naw. Once I get a bomb ass 3s partner you best believe I’m winning some 2v2 at evo.

I’m not interested in monopoly, game takes too damn long. Play whatever you want. If you’re down to play SFIV we’re down to have you. If you aren’t down to play like that, then please (unless you’re Elias) don’t complain about SFIV when you don’t really play with the SFIV peeps/scene/group. It’s gross and not funny, post that in the HDR thread or like the who watches the watchmen thread.

Nuff said.

Actually got more to say so that wasn’t nuff said EDIT-When has forum drama ever really been something new to this scene? It isn’t. This isn’t SFIV exclusive, and while the most recent examples have been due to SFIV, cmon clearly, people aren’t always cordial and peaceful to one another. I can pull out about three different examples of non SFIV related drama that has happened in our forums relatively recently. But instead of naming names, in this tense, aggressive climate, I prefer to avoid drama. After all hasn’t everyone had their fair share of it by now?

we need a soap opera

Guile’s flash kicks are really the only problem I have with him. If you’re jumping at a crouching Guile you don’t fucking deserve a trade!

I’m going to have to leave Guile behind in 4, I’ve already come to terms with that. I’m just really stumped as to who I should use now, Fuerte is the only person I can see myself having fun with lol

Here’s a solution to the drama: swallow whatever beef you have (no homo) with someone else for now and call them out on the battlefield. No one wants to read this shit anymore, so lets turn it into something exciting yeah? Bonus if we make videos of each other talking shit about everyone else in a hookah bar, I hear that’s pretty hip

Hookah bar interviews are hella boss, even better if Akon is playing in the background with Nolan doing the chirp.

I should really look at a secondary character. I like Abel, but gief is better IMO, not sure yet.

That’s the right path. Picking up Fuerte saved my soul, personally. He’s pretty technical though, so it’s a lot of work and you have horrible defense. The plus side is even losing is pretty fun.

Do any of you have any experience with this fight stick? I’m thinking about picking it up but I’m not sure on how good it is.

probably very bad. If you want an entry level stick look for the hori fighting stick 3.

out of stock at play-asia but you may be able to find one with some looking.

They usually have these laying around at Fry’s, Riki.

SFIV questions I have:

  1. Is Gief at advantage on blocked greenhand? EX greenhand?

  2. Are you considered airborn during dashes? (I know you are in KOF, dunno about SFIV)

  3. How long is the backdash invulnerability? Say Gief is next to you and ultras you during your wakeup and you input wakeup backdash, do you dash or get thrown?

  4. Is Ryu throwable if he ultras right next to you? I know Dhalsim can be thrown out of ultra, any other characters?

I think ryu can be thrown, but not on block. However the only experience I have with this is when I’m already in a situation that would avoid the projectile, like mid ex tatsu or lariat.

Don’t think you’re airborn during dash, otherwise there’d be alot more full ultras for Ken off of fadc. The first hit of his fp shoryu has to float, and only does that on counter hit or aa, or late in a crumple.

Don’t know about backdash invuln, but I do think it could be possible to get out of Gief’s ultra, though its just wild speculation.

1-Gief is hella punishable. Regular greenhand is punishable by like jabs, shorts, strongs, forwards, not sure about fierces or roundhouses. The ex is hella punishable on block.

2-Yes you are.

3-That I can’t exactly say as I’m not sure how long it is. I’m pretty sure it varies from character to character. You should be able to escape the ultra if you backdash.

4-Yes he is, I accidently spd’d Ryu out of his ultra once, and the fireball went flying behind me. Ill advised though. You can command grab (regular non ex) Gief out of his ultra with Abel as his command grab has throw invulnerability. Besides those cases, I don’t really think you can throw the other ultras.

So can Gilly and Cammy airthrow people out of dashes?

All the Gief hardbody tactics are kind of dangerous. The opponent’s fear alone gives him like +3 advantage at times though.

Hey, I’m from Yakima but I am currently studying in Japan.

I’ll be back in late July and will be home about a month before going back to school (in Montana).

I’d love to make a weekend trip up to Seattle and display some Japan Street Fighter Knowledge.

If I get hit by one more god damned sagat ultra, I’m gonna send them a voice message of nothing but me shrieking into my microphone. I’m so tired of mixing people up for 50% life then getting careless, eating his stupid ass ultra, and it being an even match again. Gotta be more careful against scrubs.

And we would totally love to have you & your japanese knowledge!

@ Airthrow: For all your air throw needs, watch this video: http://gootecks.com/videos/street-fighter-4-guile-reversals-and-air-throws-video-by-gilley/

As for grabbing people out of their ultras, not likely. Most people have too many invincible frames. For example, if I’m doing my jumping throw mixup off of fuerte’s dash, and the ryu player ultras on wakeup, it never grabs him. Ever. Even though he’s standing up. If it’s meaty slide it’ll trade, but that’s because the active frames are long and pass through his invincibility. You’d have to predict the ultra to throw him and honestly his Ultra is easy enough to punish if you expect it. You can react to the freeze for a free jump-in. Real roo players won’t just throw ultra out though.

EDIT: WHY THE FUCK do people unready when you haven’t pressed your fucking A button yet? I’m sorry I don’t sit at the screen mashing my fucking A button for 15 minutes waiting for a fucking match. Yeah unready and ready over and over - that’s not gonna make me kick you.

Ok from experience I know that :

You can throw Ryu out of ultra.

Don’t try to punish greenhand with jabs or fierce only special attacks. If you jab he’ll command grab.

Never backdash wake up a Gief with ultra. I’ve made this mistake and been ultra’d =/ Just jump when you see the animation.
