You know it’s not just the smash community who are irritating as hell…there are plenty of ppl that go to Zach’s house that I find irritating as hell (some even irritating as fuck). And i’m pretty positive that a vast amount of players that go to Zach’s also find me irritating as hell too.
I still am not getting why people are fucking trying to close the doors on new ppl getting into the scene just because they are coming from the smash community…
Honestly you’d should be focusing this hate towards the fucking Halo Kids (as I like to call them) now THOSE guys are irritating as fuck…convinced me not to help robert out at the Halo 3 tournament at PAX after dealing with 1 team for 5 minutes…in fear of going to jail for beating up minors.
People can be irritating, but they’re either in or out of their comfort zone, and in such a social environment its not unexpected that anyone would act in such a manner.
I don’t really mind, and I’m sure at least a few people tolerate some of my stupid shit so its all a nice circle of coolness.
20 minutes between turns
Pricey as hell
Machine shuts down every 2 seconds
Insanely loud motorcycle game constantly blaring over conversations
Buzzed Players
A strange abundance of people who try to skip in line
People that seem to live there (though I guess that’s to be expected)
I think you’ve confused “assholes” with dedicated SF players who’ve learned to zone that shit out. But from the handful of times I’ve been there, it wasn’t all that bad.
now a days as in they finally realized that CoD4 was a way better game than Halo 3? From my short stint on CoD4, i’ve never had a group of russians high school kids in unison repeat “Fuck you ft bitch ns” over an entire match (keep in mind this was during the Halo 2 days).
For halo 3 I’ve probably muted at least 30 people.
For CoD4 I’ve only muted 2 kids that were forced on my team and were bitching the whole time about how it was each of their faults we were losing…when I was the only one trying to go and capture bases in domination…
Frank, doesn’t EVERY seattle ST player play SFIV now? I play the game hella but I haven’t been able to go to Preppy’s for a few tournies, really would like to go this friday though cus I have been putting in hella work on my Bison…
Personally I think I would play pretty much any fighting game as long as:
It has an active scene in Seattle.
It isn’t Guilty Gear, or Tekken (I respect those games, they are just not my flavor),
Isn’t a vs game (I would actually play TvC if it was on 360 though, so I could theoretically make an exception).
It isn’t third strike. Hate that game with the fury of 10,000 suns.
It’s funny because I actually am willing to play a LOT more games than we usually play in Seattle, even though people think I ONLY play ST. I remember one time I got done streaking Mandel and Paul Lee on KOF '98UM and I went into the other room at Keith’s house to watch Marvel and Jamie said “Wow, gonna play a game OTHER than ST???” as if I don’t know how to play anything else. I am actually hella good at KOF for someone who never plays it anymore, and I am a decent Alpha 3 player, and I am also pretty damn good at Fatal Fury Special. On OG KOF '98 I can beat or hang with most people easily, and I am pretty good at KOF 2k2 also. And I was learning VF5 when it died. When I worked at Nintendo in the span of a few weeks I went from not being able to beat anyone in the breakroom to staying on and streaking the whole testing department in Soul Cal 2 on Gamecube.
I can also play Garou, but only low-tier so I do decent with Rock and Freeman. It’s just that nobody plays those games.
I’m ranting but that’s what SRK is for, right? Anyways, I am thought of as an ST player only because the other games I play nobody really has gatherings for.
Airthrow: All I really see is a lot of the ST kids bitching about SFIV more than playing it, you beasily and elias are the only ppl that I see giving the game a shot.
And not to mention a significant percentage of ST players are also marvel players, Mandel, Brent, Pablo, DA WOLF etc. These people are all core members of the Seattle ST community that also play SFIV.
I have not seen too many ST players who don’t play SFIV. Nate doesn’t for some odd reason, but that’s his perogative.
Last time I was in the Philippines I remembered why KOF 2k2 is for sure one of my favorite fighters of all time…
It is one of the few games that is creative enough with the engine that you can play every character whichever way you want to play them. In most KOF’s and ST I think there is more of a defined “proper” playstyle per character, but in KOF 2k2 you really can zone, rushdown, turtle etc however you want to play. I was playing people who played textbook rushdown>big combos, but I was getting a lot of wins and holding my own by zoning and bread and butters (Mostly because I haven’t played a lot of 2k2 since the year 2003-2004, so I forgot the big combos!). GREAT game, VERY underrated IMO. The top tier is pretty fucking retarded though, and the game would be fine without BC combos.
Also I LOVE Bison in SFA3, he sucks hella bad but that’s part of the reason I like him, wins with him are SO satisfying.
Near free crossup escapes now via autotracking is pretty damn annoying though. It benefits them for making a choice that under normal circumstances would be exactly what they don’t want to do. It flipped SF logic on its head.
Its new, weird, and I don’t particularly care for it. I’ll deal with it though because I have to.
BTW currently I am engaged in some EPIC FUCKING MATCHES with Nolan who is on a smoke break, I wish I had a camcorder JUST so I could post some of these matches.
One game I won first round, he perfected me second round, and I perfected him back the third for the win.
edit: One thing I like about SFIV is that with all the defensive options everyone has and all the ex moves and armor breaking moves people have, perfects are pretty impressive in this game.
If you notice they are trying to reversal uppercut your crossups, all you have to do is delay your jump so as they are waking up you aren’t quite on the other side. Their uppercut misses, you punish. Do that a couple times and they will stop. Problem solved. I hardly ever get hit with that shit anymore.
Yknow, I can’t say that I’ve ever gotten hit by a reversal crossup shoryuken in this game and I play Chun Li aka Bun Bi. And it’s exactly because of what Trace posted. It’s like…
“Hey this guy is trying to mash out an OYOUKEN, lemme just mess with my crossup timing real quick and…”
“LOOK! He’s flying the other way, time to punish!”
Shit you can even do the same thing to Blanka on wakeup if you know he’s gonna do upball. If you just adjust your crossup a bit, he’ll upball towards you, but he’ll whiff and you punish. Simple as that. What sucks about that is he can just wakeup with electricity instead =/. Julian you need to take a cue from Elias about how to make your anti SF4 rants entertaining.
And don’t WE have selective memories here, because I remember streaking on you, Nate, and Paul Lee.
Uh oh!
waits for KOF 98 UM money match challenge
To everyone that doesn’t play SFIV like that, but reads this thread, it’s a good game. Give it a shot plz. Don’t lurk the thread, play the game! Meet up with people, give it a chance, so what if it’s not ST/3S, it’s it’s own game and it’s the shit.
