Bison’s pretty strong. Good damage potential, great pressure and rush down, good escapes, and good footsies. Though he lacks a fairly strong anti air, Brent hit the nail on the head
I dunno why I don’t see you Bison players not using EX head stomp as an anti air as it does 20% each time, and secondarily, it’s probably his best anti air he has really.
I personally think Bison’s pretty strong in this game, and though he works hard for his damage, he has some of the best escapes in the game that MUST be respected during your match mixed with some of the best pressure strings in the game.
The best thing to know as a Bison player is this…people don’t like to block for extended amounts of time, it puts them out of their comfort zone as they feel as if they’re not in control. With constant pressure with scissor kick strings, the chances that MOST players get hit by a scissor kick or two warrants a knockdown, which then warrants more pressure. Point of the matter is that his game mainly revolves around putting your opponent in a situation that they do NOT want to be in and playing off of that fear. Personally, I feel as if I need do some real risky stuff to get out of silly traps that Bison’s got. Mix this in with great crossups, throw mixups, good damage potential…I think he’s got shit goin for him.
Teleport, ex psycho crusher, ex head stomp…fuck all that noise, how the fuck am I supposed to gain momentum on a character who is always controlling it with devil reverse’s or scissor kick strings?
The main thing you’re missing here Mickey is this. When Bison has an ultra, NO ONE is jumping at Bison. So yes while EX headstomp is a good anti-air, once Bison has an ultra bar the whole gameplay changes.
Also EX heastomp to be used as an anti-air would best be used just outside of sweep range only. since by the peak of their jump you are already in their ass. Any other situation you would want to use standing roundhouse because while you’re not dealing 20% all the time, you’re saving that bar for escape options.
Cause like I mentioned earlier, I’d rather use a bar to get away from a combo that could lead to 30-40% life taken from me, instead of dealing 20% to my opponent, especially since 2-3 standing roundhouses will have the same effect, and on top of that I still will have my EX bar, and by the third standing roundhouse. My opponent should’ve figured out that he’s not going to be able to jump in on me so shoto’s have to resort to throwing fb’s, so I just stand back and absorb or teleport, or if I want to get real cute with it use the EX bar to scissor through the fireball and scare them into thinking that I’m going to rush down. Either way they will lose patience and try to jump at me again thus repeating the process…
I guess you’re right in that redsuit will have to work for what he wants but he’s so frustrating to play because, like someone said, between EX headstomp/devil reverse and teleport, I absolutely cannot pressure him. It’s harder to punish his teleport than anybody else’s even when I know it’s coming. I play people who teleport on wakeup EVERY time and I can’t ever get to them or predict it right, hahah. And safe scissor kicks are way too easy to do. It seems like you have to be pretty retarded to throw scissor kicks close enough to get punished. Or are they less safe than it looks?
The best part about EX head stomp is that it recovers with fewer frames then the regular head stomp throwing of your opponent and leading into more scissor kick strings. But in reality, it’s better to use ex head stomp for escapes because I agree that I would rather avoid a 30-40% combo then deal 20% damage. And it’s amazing to land head stomps on the first few frames of wake up because unless they can teleport they have to block, then get stuck in another scissor kick block string.
Anyone got a good Rog that I can challenge? I’ve been practicing around and his shit seems way too safe all the time and he does a helluva lot of damage. I’m not too scrubby, I’m just looking for a few good matches, see if I can get my play better. Or really if anyone wants to put in a few matches for fun I’d be down with that too.
In regular ST it was about the distance, but in SFIV lk scissors is neutral/safe on block no matter what the distance.
The other scissors are punishable though.
When speaking of M. Bison’s weaknesses, people also forget he has pretty crap high/low mixup, it is pretty fucking difficult for bison to ever make people move away from holding down/back. No overhead, and a FLOATY ass jump.
I am Lothar has the best Bailrag in WA state that I have played, including Cole’s.
I’m not trying to step on anyones toes here, but unless lothar changed up his patterns I’m going to have to disagree. He is good with balrog, but when he has an ultra he would go for low jabx3 to ex overhead everytime, so you just block and grab or do an armor break move after the jabs. But we haven’t played in a minute so my opinion was when we played a few weeks ago.
You have officially disappointed me so strongly Julian. I’m actually going to take a boycott from even posting because of this noncense. It’s posts like this that gross me out to no end and make me stop from even wanting to help players. No different then Rickclops saying Seth > Balrog.
After posting this next video…I’m done posting on SRK for awhile…BECAUSE of this post.
