We Need More SFIV Players in Seattle

it’s pretty useless trying to play Rufus in ranked matches. You’re rarely going to go up against a character that feels like an even fight. Its much easier to just pick Sagat.

The thing I hate the most about ranked matches is the fact that everyone always waits to pick characters either out of fear of being counter picked or to counter pick themselves. Why didn’t they jack HD Remix’s setup? Double blind pick and multiple users per lobby please

Multiple users in a Player Match HAS to be done. I can see not doing it for ranked, but Player Matches…come on now.

Yeah, pretty stupid design.

I say just man up and pick your damn character. When I play ranked matches I pick Dan straight away, if I get counter-picked I may lose, but I get better with every loss. If I get counter-picked and win, sucks to be you :wgrin:

I guess it could be argued that anybody is a counter-pick to Dan…

I love picking first cuz that’s the only way i can get better with bad matchups…When i play Hyper Fighting w/ gief i always play against Blanka, Honda, & Dhalsim…Now in SFIV i get Blanka & Sagat…I love it…I may lose the battle but i learn something i can use when i play that matchup again…

i’m sitting in the area between 2900-3200 BP. I get up to around 320 then lose to some weak ass scrub shit, and get pissed thinking I can scrape that shit but my anger flusters my playstyle and I make mistakes and get brought back down…

I usually only have time to play against you guys so my BP aint too high. Rufus does pretty well against the majority of the Xbox Live players I think. Good Cammy, Sagat, or Dhalsim will rape me but you rarely see that on Live. Balrog can be a pain sometimes too. Jason’s Sagat destroyed me. :frowning:

Against shoto scrubs as any character its extremely laughable, and I’m suprised I dont get hate messages. Bait DP (usually always FP DP lol) on knockdown or with a jump or dash, block, pick any combo when they land. There has been a couple of times where for the hell of it I’d always crouch next to a Ken after knockdown and they would wakeup FP DP every time and get punished. This was like 3 or 4 times in a row.

Balrog is the answer to online players. Footies own psn players to bait out ultras on wake up that its sad. I hate playing fuckin scrubby gief players who mash on lariats and other umb fuck shit. People get mad angry tho in sf4, like yest dude did wake up super with ryu and I just did DP xx FA cancel into Ryu ultra and did was straight pissed. He sent me like 3 messages full of hate.

But yea SF4 online is some good shit. I’ve played against some good Abels, Dictators, Vega, and blankas. I played hondas that turtle and that shit annoyed me soo much. O well.

i like having full ultra bar with Sagat and waiting for a dp and just ultra as they land, usually killing em if they have less than like 60% health left

I’m pretty much only a dictator player so in ranked I always just pick him immediately, when I bothered picking other people the scrubs always “wait” to pick their shotos as if it gives them the upperhand or something, whatever.

Haha, I see this all the time too. I usually pick one of my mains right away (Vega/Dhalsim), while their cursor just sits there. Immediately after I’m locked in they rocket on up to Ken or Ryu. Usually quite predictable.

Its true, except about 30% of the time they’ll go for blanka when I pick ken, which is just annoying and stupid.

I found an infinite with Ken in SF4, but it only works if you’re playing against shotos online.

  1. Wait for SRK.
  2. Sweep.

Repeat!

Honestly, I need some real help in SF4. Or I need to practice, one of the two. :S

  1. I tend to lose badly to mediocre blankas. Obviously, I need to study up on what punishes blocked balls, but what else? Is crossing up futile (electricity), or do I need to just learn to time things better?

  2. When using Dictator, I love to bait SRKs with devil’s reverse. But Cammy’s HK anti-air seems to go high enough that it’s impossible to avoid - it’ll eat stomps & devil reverses clean, every time. Am I doing something wrong, or should I just not try that on Cammy?

  3. Is there a trick for holding charge after a FADC? (In other news, I want to type GCFS every time) Or is it a question of losing charge, but then keeping your link combo going for a couple seconds so you can get your charge back?

  4. Fuck a link combo.

To do FADC charge combos, using Dic as an example:

Do Saving attack while charging back, as dic is hitting with the saving, do f,f dash input and then go back to holding back. This is a BUFFER, so only input dash ONCE, and then wait for Dic to catch up and dash.

Then he will dash forward with charge, and do combo of your choice.

Dhalsim, yoga flame.

Oh snap, it’s RowTron, son!

Well it doesn’t just need to be sweep, I like to do cl RH RH tatsu, because after like 3 times they’re basically dead.

Its honestly quite hilarious to see online Kens, Ryus, or anyone with a shoryu style move repeatedly do it on wakeup when every single time all you need to do is just walk up and block. Then throw them (or sweep) and repeat.

Cammy’s cannon spike is ridiculous. You can jump after her a good second after she’s done it and still be knocked away.

I just discovered that db blocks high and low attacks. Jesus. My Tekken foundation has led to innumerable extra input attempts to block high.

In Tekken, db blocks lows. That’s it.

IV mids give you that split second hesitation when your opponent tries an overhead (mid) in which you would then hold back to block.

Holy fucking noob.

/headslap

d/b does not block jump in attacks which is the SF version of “high” along with overheads. Everything else is either mid or low.

warning in the fight against Cammy: I blocked a cannon drill, and then did cr. mk which usually can punish, but she cancelled her cannon drill recovery somehow with super and I ate full dmg…

Her recovery is just really really fast.

Blocking in Tekken is alot more intense than in SF, and much more rewarding when you do it well. Its like marvel, in that when you block everything someone throws at you for a little bit you get that feeling of “fuck yes! My turn!”.

So satisfying.
