Shaymin-S has 60% flinch with Air Slash and 127 base speed. I think a lot of people hate that. I think that’s pretty much it. Seed Flare with 80% double special defense loss is pretty good, but that’s balanced by only having 5 PP anyway.
Although, if I ever built a team, it’d be full on just trying to piss my opponent off as much as possible. Flinching, confusion, paralysis, attraction, the works. I mean, sure, blind luck isn’t something to be relied on, but if you can consistently create situations where luck is in your favor, why wouldn’t you?
I do think the randomness rules are a poor choice though. But I also think that comes from how Pokemon tournaments are normally held. They don’t do best 2 out of 3 or whatever battles (IIRC) simply because there just isn’t enough time to do so. I mean, as it stands, most Pokemon tourneys are single elimination, best of 1. Getting lucky with OHKO moves gets you pretty far in the bracket. But if the tournies were double elim, best of 3, then using OHKO moves probably aren’t going to get you as far.
So is this on the DS or what? I’ve never really played any of the Pokemon games.
I personally am complacent towards instant KO moves and the likes. I play by those rules because they are by far the most played, but if people here wanted to allow the more random things, that’s all good by me.
But when it comes to Wobbufett, I won’t be playing in a format where he is allowed. You basically have to have Wobuffett on your team in order to stay competitive, and that isn’t what Pokemon is about. There are 500+ Pokemon these days, you use 6 different on a team, there shouldn’t be one that stands so far above the others. It isn’t at all that Wobuffett is unbeatable. Sure you can kill him. The problem is that he will ALWAYS trade with at least 2 other Pokemon. Every single time, more commonly more than 2. And to top it off there are many common late game situations where you won’t be killing him. And by common I mean, happens in probably 1 in 3 games.
I LIKE! at least theres some interest going on!!
i think the rules should be up to the 2 people throwin down. like if i was like, yo man, can we do one with straight up battle tower rules, then the other guy would have to agree or just not play. were setting up TW team tourney or anything. just something fun on the side. i would love to battle (and lose) to all of you guys. ive had the privilage to scrub out all of my friends, because i knew how to ev train and breed for ivs and natures. so i just made sweepers lol. but now i get to possible expand my horizons and try phazers, walls, stallers, etc.
pretty much what im getting to is, a lot of people dont know about pokemon. they wont know about making hax(legit) movesets that would potentially break battles. and if you do know about them, then why would you be a dick and use them against someone who wont know? and battle tower is in the game, so they can get used to the rules without having to remember specifics. and with that, they might be willing to try out official tournament rules and make a team that goes beyond just battle tower.
i got HG today, just put in my name. i have to really concentrate on working on my costume for sakuracon, but i want to transfer some lvl 5s i caught/bred on pearl. and get my pokewalker all set up. damn bad timing.
those are the rules ive always seen, though the sleep one is semi new to me(usually some rules are flexible).
Can we start a list of DS friend codes in this thread? I’m not at home right now, but I’ll post mine up soon. I also don’t have the new games yet.
And can someone post links to some tutorials on getting started? I can’t find anything on serebii, that place is way too cluttered.
PBR (Pokmon Battle Revolution) on the Wii is personally my favorite way to play this. It lets you upload your game pak data from any of the 5 DS Pokmon games (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver-which can all also battle each other via DS wireless and Wi-Fi) and play on your big TV in 3D. I still have everything set up from our last league at work on PBR and am sure some of the people from that league would love to play.
Who’s tryin’a get down on pokemon cardzzz
but only the original i ain’t got no cheap ass new ones, 150 pokemon in my world
I only have 1 deck for the Pokemon TCG. It isn’t very fun though as it never loses if it goes first =/
Pokemon Battle Revolution is a tight way to battle for sure.
pokemon heart gold friend code: 4340 4699 3328
hit a nigga up
Whaddya mean by “it never loses if it goes first”?
xD I spose I’ll have to show you some time Elias.
So what are the impressions of HG an SS?
heart gold is already way better than pearl, imo. i love the interface. maybe cuz my favorite was gold on GBC hahaha. also, the face that your lead pokemon is a sprite following you around is pretty dope as well. really nice stills of when you enter caves and forests are dope too.
i was battleing fae earlier today, and even at level 12, OU compared to UU pokemon have stupid advantages, even un-evoloved. i think just to be fare, ill have OU, UU, and uber tierd teams.
right now im only running 4, with 2 being HM whores. kinda shitty you gotta have shitty moves (minus surf and that physical water attack) so you can get through the game. the AI is a lot better, but i still dont understand why gym leaders only rock 2 pokemon early lol. reading up that you can rematch the gyms is tight, esp when they get more/buffer/higher level pokemon.
add my fc and we can mix data or whatever. im not ready to battle til my dudes are like 50 and fully evolved.
I’m in. I’m in 100%. I don’t know how much I want to dedicate, knowing that you have to like… train a team to beat the game, then go back and single-handedly pick the pokemon you want on your best team, then get their eggs so they have tight abilities, train them from level 5 all the way to 100… I’m not sure how down I am for that, but I’m definitely down to play some tight 50ish matches once I get up there. Right now I’ve got 2 pokemon on my team that I’ll be using for sure, and I beat falkner. Been playing a lot of FFXIII on my new TV and doing band ish. Maybe I can catch up. <3
Edit: I guess that means I’m not in 100%, but I’m definitely in!
Also, Pokewalker is whack.
just caught a lvl10 shiny hoothoot. anyone want it?
I heard that if you level up a pokemon via the walker, it won’t learn new moves or evolve from that level.
This seems like a terrible oversight.
Anyway, be careful which pokemon you use with it. Don’t let this happen to you.
Is there still the option to auto-level to 100 for battles?
