We Need More Monster Hunters

Covering all things Monster Hunter here!

 • Monster Hunter Portable 3 is coming out in Japan soon (technically, it’s available if you pirate PSP games)!

 • Monster Hunter Tri is already available for Wii and can easily go online!

 • Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is still the darling of the hardcore MH fans and you can play online via Ad-Hoc Party (AHP) or X-Link Kai.

 • Who knows, maybe Monster Hunter Frontier will eventually be available outside of Japan!

All Monster Hunter talk is welcomed here

I’ll update rosters below for all the various online-enabled Monster Hunter games (including Ad-Hoc Party and XLink Kai info for Freedom Unite).

Feel free to include smurf characters or indicate if you are open to helping lower level hunters. You may also let me know if your get to the next tier of Hunter Ranking and I will update that.

MONSTER HUNTER RESOURCES
Monster Hunter Wikia
Wikia doesn’t get everything right, but it gets Monster Hunter very right. Information is wonderfully organized and presented here for both Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Monster Hunter Tri.

Shepard’s Monster Hunter (Video) Guides
Shepard does a wonderful job of guiding Monster Hunter Tri (and Portable 3rd) novices. A definite first stop for people just getting into Tri or Portable 3rd. Always entertaining to watch.

*I plan to update this site with some of the other hardcore reference sites like Reign of the Rathalos and what not. Unfortunate what happened to Minegarde, but I’ll link them here too.

I’ve been a Monster Hunter Tri addict since around May, though I took a 2-month break from the game. Still love it though, and there’s still a ton of things for me to do. I also have a smurf account, I’ll post the ID tag for my smurf later. My smurf is focused on bowgunning. My best weapon in Tri is Lance, though I am amassing quite an armory for myself. Second best weapon is Great Sword, followed by Long Sword. I am getting better with Hammer and it’s becoming one of my favorite weapons. Also becoming a big fan of Bowgun.

I like Freedom Unite a lot, but have no multiplayer experience with the game. My MHFU character has a lot of hours on him however, but best he has is normal Hermitaur gear. For the moment, I’m mostly using Great Sword in Freedom Unite.

Can’t wait for Portable 3rd, but it still hasn’t been announced for a US Release Date…

This is an awesome Monster Hunter Freedom Unite video showcasing LOTS of skilled timed attacks, movement, and even teamwork.

 • Starts with a long introduction of the anime-fan-video variety.
 • Showcases lots of perfectly timed strongest strikes of attack sequences (ie. Golf Swings, Full Charges, Upswing Full Charge, etc…).
 • Some perfectly timed back-turned strikes.
 • Showcases some snazzy sidestepping sequences with perfect timing.
 • After it goes on and on with the solo stuff, it suddenly busts out some awesome teamplay coordination–probably the strongest sequences you would see in game attacking the same exact target (ie. everyone attacking the head).

The video sort of has the whole “Deathnote 2nd Opening Vibe” which probably isn’t for everyone. But it’s an awesome Monster Hunter video

Also, here’s an that one should check out

Wish we could embed youtube videos on SRK.
