We need more CvS2 players in Seattle

yeah im just like kicking myself for what has happened. We had a crazy scene here, and now it’s sad. It’s not all my fault, but a big part is. I remember when we had massive tournies with everyone coming down. MAN O MAN THOSE WERE THE DAYS TO NEVER FORGET. I gotta get that back i gotta do something, i don’t know maybe alot of travel in the us or maybe japan idk. im just trying to find out why i live, cause its not to fucking go shopping or to the movies or any of the normal shit ppl do all day…fucking god, it’s been too long i need to make decisions about life and relationships, and games! i could get some money but who the fuck cares if you cant do what you dream about…so lost right now guys…sad sad sad

I feel as if I would be pretty good at getting back at you for this one John Michaels…(As I was your ‘apprentice’ and also at one time AKA’ed as “lil John Michaels”). But most of all because we’ve had a history…we were friends

The first thing that came into my mind when you posted was “Wow…” No other statement than that. It’s been super long that you’ve posted, secondarily, it’s been super long since we’ve talked. Well, now to get on topic…

Those were definitely the good ole’ days. Role models at my age consisted of Rowtron, Mandel, and John Michaels AKA Lifetimeboy. Definitely times where gaming was in a good state. The “golden days.”

As of right now, we have absolutely NO Cvs2 scene. Don’t think I’m complaining, but, I’m just telling it how it is…Cvs2 is no more in the Northwest. Your right John…I think that a part of the scene falling apart does have to do with you. You’ve been looked at as a hindrance to the community. Your die-hard ambition to play games almost confuses most people here…thus kinda breaking the scene down a little. Not to mention the drama that happens from time to time.

John, Cvs2 is not going to be coming up anytime soon. Our passion is not like yours. We want to play for the fun of playing, and for the fun of getting together with people who have the same interest as our own. We play for the fun of it, no longer for the “competitive” feel for it. Thats something that you have to understand…is that most people here aren’t like you. I know that you understand that, however try to realize that the community is not SOLELY based upon fighting games…but more of a factor of the “togetherness” of our community. Does that make sense?

Thirdly, your life. This is gonna come pretty hard at you John…I might not sound like a very nice person in this next preach. You have no idea how many times I’ve had to question what you were doing with yourself. I would see you busting ass at “entry” level jobs and just kinda doing shit with your life. You would smoke a shit ton of weed…and for what? Basically…not doing anything progressive with your life. It seems as if NOW…finally NOW at the age of 26 (am I right there?)…you understand that you want to do something with yourself. And though I’ve bashed you throughout these last statements…I can say, that in your most recent decision, to DO something with yourself…I can say that I’m proud of you.

Find what you want in life. Find ways to achieve it. And go about it. You are NOT a worthless piece of shit, if you do not WANT to be. Change things. YOU DO have that power. And though it’s been hard to realize this…involve yourself with friends that are going to SUPPORT your decisions.

I’m glad you’ve come to this realization John that “Things need to change in my life.” It’s better now then never…but NEVER let up. I’ve seen you try to quit things ALL the time, and you just go back at it. DO NOT let up on this. Change yourself for the better, and become a man.

Wow… well said. I don’t know either of you all that well, but John seemed like he was preoccpupied with his thoughts quite a bit friday night. Seemed like a nice guy, and nothing like what the NW players had said before. Even worked things out with Mandel. I take it this is the beginning of a big turn-around? Hopefully things work out for you, John.

sounds like someone is dating an asian girl

Yuk…kinda outta line there

It’s the truth, though  (not to say that the underlying implications of that statement are true, but that he’s dating an asian girl)

On some real shit.

That right there…Made me look at the screen all sideways…

starts listening to Paul Wall

SITTIN SIDEWAYZ!

well i was just saying from exp. dating asian girls generally makes you feel like your not doing enough, especially to make them happy lol, you lose yourself in that and forget what makes you happy it’s a dangerous road, dating asian girls. hell dating girls in general (no it’s not okay to date guys with the exception of some people on srk)

I couldn’t tell ya.

Never dabbled in it.

Since when did this become the womens issues thread?

For real. Pablo hand off Kyo.

Actually the SNK cast is the only thing that intrests me, but I think I’ve said that before. Claw and Dictator are the Capcom character I give a shit about, well Dhalsim and that it.

Man, high-maitence asian chicks were abound yesterday at KinoKuniya. The guys(Anglo and Asian) looked miserable:lol:

Well, thing about all that is, those days are gone, they aren’t coming back. Only way that’s possible is if Seattle gets another good arcade, one that happens to have every game that people play competitively, and allows people to have tourneys. I’m pretty sure I’ll have Utada’s hand in marriage before that happens.

It amazes that someone so young can have this much knowledge. You just gained a lot of respect from me with this post mickey.

Now as far was what people have said about the competitveness within our scene. Yeah the days of Seattle arcade tournaments are behind us, but does that mean that our scene will never be at that point again? No. Do we really need an arcade to have that competitveness? Honestly I don’t think so. I mean look at the first season league we had. From that many of the low-mid/high players that would enter started practicing again, hell i’ve even sat down in front of marvel a few times and it was good to get back into trying to practice and thinking of different strats and set ups and what not.

Now as far as CvS2 goes, it seems that there is a strong following starting up for that game. Now as much as you would like to see us get on that super competitive level again, it’s more than likely not going to happen again for a while, at least till next year. But if we start out small I truly believe that we can have our scene back to what it was before. Again with marvel, we are nowhere near what we were back in 2002 and 2003, but we have a lot of new faces in the scene now (Keith, Kenny are two off the top of my head), and ST has had a revival here as well. And from what i understand the ST kids are going to evo, and wether or not they do phenominal or just get scraped, one thing is certainly going to happen. Just from them going down to Evo and seeing the games they love to play at the highest level of competition it’s going to set their drive to get better at those games way better than if they were to just continue to have the biweekly tournaments at Zach’s. Maybe it is time for Seattle to take a road trip again. I think most of us that still play wether casually or competitively have forgotten what it feels like to go heads up against someone and give it your all, and to have that support not just from those that play the same game as you but from everyone in Seattle together. Those that went to Evo 2k3 know exactly what i’m talking about here (let’s not forget Ric during Kuan vs. Soo in the final 8 matches =D)

But to what John said in his post, it’s nice to see you man up and take some responsability for what happened with the CvS2 scene. It takes a lot of courage to just come out and say that, and I can respect you for that, and hopefully one day we can get Seattle back on to what it used to be just a few years ago.

Wow this post turned out to be WAY longer than intended.

Olympia had like, 20 regular CvS2 players at one point. I know we’re far and gone from Seattle, but seriously, if people played CvS2 more in Washington PERIOD, quite a few of the Olympia players would show up for sure.

CvS2 with the PNW League system just might work out.

You know what.

I keep hearing all this talk about the good ol’days this and good ol’days that.

FUCK THAT SHIT!

Mandel, your right he can’t have those days back. We can’t have those golden days back.

But.

Funny thing is that if you guys actually wanted to do make a scene pop off…you guys would be all over it. Trying to do something. We have the people.

The only thing that comes close to a good acrcade in my opinon is Tilt…Sea-Tac that’s it.

I think you misunderstood. Seattle was always an arcade city, always will be. The scene would flourish a lot more with an arcade to go to, however we don’t have that. LTB is talking about the Lanwerx days where people were playing in the arcade until like 2,3 in the morning and shit, and had tourneys there once a month, that shit will never happen again.

But!

We have alternatives now. People have accepted console as the next best thing. About the whole “if we wanted a scene we’d be all over it” that’s what people are doing now. Zach is allowing us to have tourneys at his house every two weeks. Frank and I both offered to run tourneys for this next season. That’s why I made that Season two thread. It may not be nothing collossal but it’s better than nothing. No one’s undermining what we have now.

CvS2 thread people. CvS2.

C-groove!

Thank you SO much Frank. For you to say, that YOU respect me…I’m in a way honored…as I’ve always wanted to be “accepted” by the group of NW. Even though I’m young, and went to tournies at 16…I always wanted to be respected or accepted by you guys. Not as if I WASN’T accepted…but when I hear things like this…it makes me think sometimes that I really am part of the community, even though I was never tight knit with many people here. Seriously Frank…Thank you very much for your words.

First of all, you weren’t HERE for the “golden days.” And because of that, you cannot understand how great it was. You can’t understand the feeling of Seattle arcade PRIME. Don’t try and say “Past is past” because the past is sometimes ALL we have. We cherish the memories of what we had. Why? Because they MEANT something in our lives. As stupid as it sounds…gaming has been a pretty big part of my life. ESPECIALLY competitive fighting gaming. From the amazing people that I’ve met here, to some of the things that i’ve learned from RPG’s…if someone wants to argue with me there…oh shit, I’m gonna kick “epic” to high gear.

Don’t try to accuse us of not wanting to “make a scene pop off.” The reason WHY we say the golden days, is because it’ll never be any more. That was OUR time…and OUR time only…It cannot be DUPLICATED at all…merely IMITATED. We’ve had our time…We’re done with it. Don’t try to accuse us of being lazy as far as the “scene” goes. We already had our time…there’s no reason to try and recreate it again because it’s not going to be the same…

You don’t understand, the passion is no longer there. It’s become something MORE than just competitive gaming…it’s become our friendships that we’ve gained.

I’m gonna cut my posts shorter.

To Mandel: Yeah your right, Cvs2 thread…sorry for preaching man.
