Am I missing something or is Poison confused about how she feels about music? Her win quote to Dee Jay says “You got a flashy style, but music isn’t really my bag” but her short animation after beating Seth has her all pro-music and stuff. Maybe my English understanding is bad?
I know for certain that Rose can juggle off her fireballs too. If they jump and land on one of Rose’s fireballs and you are close enough you basically get a free soul throw. She may just be better at juggling off her fireballs due to different ranges and speeds. I do think she is the only character that can juggle with a normal though, if that is what you mean?
I am just used to do Fireballs starting from down back . It is the same issue that a lot of Ryu players have where the get Cr.MK shoryuken instead of cr.MK Hadouken especially when walking forward.
Regarding Poison being special in something, I guess that is kinda tough in a game with 44 characters already. A lot of overlapping is to be expected
Don’t know if this has been said but Poison can not link cr.LP > st.HP on Hakan standing. She has to hit him with a crumple for it to connect. I didnt’ try a crouching Hakan.
I really want to use ultra two with “it” but man I swear I never get the motion unless I buffer it really slow, I always get ex rekka… anyone else have this issue?
I just started using backflip to avoid fireballs with poison. It does wonders. E ryu can throw red fireballs all he wants but a nicely timed backflip make it useless
Capcom needs to fix poison’s dp issue. I was playing rose vs another poison. I knew the poison player was trying to dash and then fireball but got dp. It happens to me a lot too.
Backflip is awesome against Dhalsim’s fireball + teleport shenanigans. If you think he’s going to teleport behind you after he does Yoga Fire, you can backflip and avoid the whole mixup.
Poison takes the things I like most about my two favorite characters - Ryu and Guile.
When at long range, I can keep up in a fireball game, score free damage with a super-fast EX fireball, and throw a nice slow fireball with very fast recovery, that allows me to use my big fat normals to AA effectively - just like Guile. No one piece in this situation is as good as what Guile has, but it plays the same.
Close range I can pressure with strong throws, overhead, a sick c.mk into my b+b combo, or into fireball to keep the pressure up. She gets hard knockdowns easily, and turns them into seriously bad situations for the opponent. She plays a whole lot like Ryu in this range - of course, her version of the SRK is lackluster, and her damage can be less sometimes, but she effectively plays the same (and her overhead/throw game is better than his). There’s probably a better analogy than Ryu for her close game, but I’m most familiar with his.
Poison takes these two very different, very strong games and puts them in a package with her own style. You can transition between the two seamlessly, and both are very effective against most characters. A lot of people complain about her normals and SRK being inadequate for keeping aggressive characters out, and they’re right. Even with a strong zoning game, it has holes. You can also complain that her style of offense gives the opponent too many opportunities to turn the match around and stage a comeback, and that’s also correct - her strong offensive game does have holes as well.
Guile can sure put E.Honda or Dictator out of their comfort zone, but not Akuma or Gouken. He has to play to their strengths instead of their weaknesses. Poison has Guile’s tools when she fights E.Honda or Dictator, but she also has another perfectly good set of tools for when she needs it.
Who gives a shit? Poison identifies as a chick so I think that’s as simple as it gets.
Do you guys think it’s worth completely dropping Gouken for Poison? I seriously enjoy Poison and want to stay with her, but like. I need some results, Y’know? I’m not gonna front haha
Backflip is good but don’t get to stuck on it to avoid red balls, I tried that against prbalrog and he immediately caught on and started dashing up behind it so that poison would move with the screen and get clipped by the fireball in recovery.
So… I’m a Rose main since Super, but since i really like her playstyle, i was thinking of seriously picking up Poison too. One of my first impression though is that both of them share the same (if not more for Poison, at least on a first glance) bad match-ups. Anyway, i was thinking of a possible third character to cover both their weaknesses. Any idea to help a fellow Poison player? I know it has probably been discussed already, but i don’t really have the time (at least, not right now) to read all the pages.
