I’m starting to think ???/RR/Strider is the biggest bullshit ever. XF2 Strider+Logtrap is impossible to block. I just need a raw tag combo RR—> Strider. Oh and I need a good point character that benefits from Log Trap and Vajra.
I finally found a team to commit to: Cap(ss)/RR(log)/Vergil(rapid). With Cap on point I’ve already explored a ton of synergy and it’s a retardedly versatile.
With RR I’m still trying to find the best ways to utilize Vergil assist and any gimicks they might have. I’m exploring raw tags into vergil into swords to increase damage, but having just picked up vergil I haven’t discovered a combo to justify it as I have to enter swords earlier than i want and wind up wasting meter for little gain over solo BnB. Is there some already established tech I can reference on these two? Any notable vids of RR/VErgil players to get a grasp of using his assist effectively with RR on point?
How do you figure? I’m about to run x / RR / Strider as well. What are you doing that’s so BS? Because my Strider is still ass, I can’t see it. I mean log + teleports are funny, but they’re not foolproof. I use spitfire on this team, so it helps w/ the teleports. It’s like mini drones. That and I don’t have any xf2 combos for strider at all.
There’s a few pages back or may be in the combo thread where there was a video about hard tag combos w/ raccoon. Maybe you can incorporate that into whatever you’re doing.
I play RR/Doom/Strider. This team goes so good with each other that it’s retarded.
I’m going to cross reference this to the V.Joe thread, so bear with me.
I’ve been running Team Kusoru for about a month and I’m starting to see all sorts of problems. If Joe dies, you still have some stuff you can do with Frank / RR, but it’s not too great. If I tag in RR, I risk getting left with Frank perhaps level 1 or whatever level he’s left off at.
Joe is a hard critter to catch, and that’s the plus side that I get a bunch of random damage from pecks and pokes, but the problem lies when people can zone. Trish teams and Doom can blow up Joe pretty easily. His voomerang doesn’t have enough durability to cut through plasma beam. Anyone who lives on the top opposite corner can blow up Joe pretty easily. Weskers that are content with super jumping with gun are annoying, especially when they’re backed with assists.
When Joe and Frank die, Raccoon is left to fend for himself. Sure, he’s small, but I think people are starting to get combos that work on him. Which makes him more of a liability since he doesn’t have many tools either to deal with people who jump, fly back, and shoot stuff at his face. I can’t catch Trish, nor can I catch Doom, which is one of the easiest characters to zone out. I also don’t get safe teleport shenanigans / mixups, so I have to play even more solid since his HP is so low.
Anyone else run into these problems? I know you play this team, Solid Stef, what do you think? I feel that if Frank isn’t leveled, this team is overrated, and there’s a few, but big problems with it. If Frank gets leveled, chances are it’ll be 2v3 anyway with level 4 Frank. Thoughts?
Has anyone else here ever ran RR with IM’s Repulsor Blast? I know he’s got unblockable/near-unblockable oki setups in the corner but I’m having a hard time using RB in neutral game because of start-up/range. Super solid lockdown, TAC infinites, hard tag extensions…this seems like it should be a great pairing but I’ve been running RR anchor since I picked up him up and I don’t know how to properly run him with assists.
Anyone know good ways to get in and keep someone locked down to cover his startup that doesn’t involve something that’s super free to pushblocking? (or any other RR + RB specific tech, for that matter?)
I’ve been trying to figure out a good team for RR and I was wondering if Vergil, magneto, raccoon sounded like a strong team to you guys.

I would run Mag/Vergil/RR. Mag for battery into TOD vergil DHC. Vergil on second gets meter to start with. Both characters can use pendulum well. If a person blocks rapid slash vergil assist in the corner, magneto can throw a 50/50. Spitfire would also be a good assist with RR.
Been in the lab with RR and IM’s RB. Found that you can relaunch with RS > RB + spitfire down > Log Trap. Nice because it gets saves your ground bounce for the corner so you can set up oil bombs or boulder loops and he has a whole lot of broken corner oki options with RB. Also saves me from having to worry about TK shot off ground throws since it’s a bit finnicky to do low jump TKs on hitbox at times.
I’ve been trying to use fH > RB + shrapnel trap > hi/low/left/right on pushblock or free unblockable if they dont. Is fH > shrapnel a full blockstring? It looks like it is, but I figured it’d be worth double checking.
Cool, I’ll check this out. I may want to run Jill / repulsor / spitfire in the future. This will help. Thanks!
I’m still struggling with:
[]Cap(ss)/Vergil (rapidslash)/RR (log)
[]Cap(ss)/RR(log)/Vergil(rapidslash)
Team 1: Cap > Vergil get TODs for 2 meter and can even kill by doing Hyper Charging Star, Devil Trigger, :df:+:h:+:a2:, combo…then tag out with a devil trigger Vergil for buffed assist and air mobility on incoming. Log allows vergil to do even more cross ups and can combo j.:d:+:h:, :df:+:h:+:a2:. You also gain a lot of DHC shenanigans on block from Cap > Vergil. My issue is I REALLY don’t like RR as anchor. I feel his neutral game is terrible if you don’t have the life lead. IF I could find more ways to start pressure it would be fine, but it seems really hard to get started without the advantage already in place or an assist. I’m basically banking on a lucky hit convert into x-factor level damage to get kills.
Team 2: If RR gets swapped onto point after DHC, RR can use Cap’s SS to decently to set up pressure and get started. he can also do :a2:+:qcf:+:l::l:, :d::d:+:m:, :s:, combo… or block string instead of :s:, but it means you have to convince your opponent to block and not jump the set up from mid to full screen. RR has incoming set ups if he DHCs off Cap killing with Hyper CS then dropping mine after. The issue is I can’t seem to find a great set up for RR to make use of Rapidslash to start pressure. Vergil is a great anchor.
I would like to play team 2 the most since I like RR 2nd…but I feel if i can’t find synergy with rapidslash, it’s sort of like playing him anchor without x-factor and it would be better to buff vergil with the assist. Any thoughts on neutral game with RR solo and possible set ups with RR/Vergil? I like these 2 assist with Cap waaaaaay too much and I’ve wanted to drop RR, but nothing compares to that log assist for how I play cap.
really just looking for a solid team where racoon is on point. i use to run RR/Strange/Hawkeye but that was when the game first came out, and then i gave up lol. is my team valid at all? and whats the big deal with RR and strider anyways?
EDIT: just dug deeper into the forums, thinking about RR/spencer/hawkeye now. that raw tag tech looks pretty serious.
RR has a problem with fliers. It doesn’t look like it, but if they’re good at flying and running around, he can’t catch them. Strider fixes that for every character with this problem.
A good point RR team probably has Ammy anchor. It seems like the best shell so far.
RR has a problem with anyone in the air at all really, unless they exclusive air dash horizontally at low heights.
Vajra is simply the quickest/easiest answer to this while also allowing for left/right derp and coming with one of the 2 current best steamroll anchors in the game.
On the topic of Vajra, I would be interested to hear this threads take on Wesker/RR/Strider? Thoughts on optimal order, assist usage and the such would be appreciated. Lastly, what kind of trouble do you see this team running into matchup wise?
Is there any synergy brown wolverine and RR? I watched a ton of tonosana vids and got hella inspired. His RR is TOO damn smooth! I say wolverine just cause I like em lol but boulder trap> hopper dhc into wolvie speed up into free unblock able sounds epic (playing theory here) what do u guys think? And if there is synergy who should run anchor?
XF3 wolvie can still be terrifying…XF3 RR is not anywhere near what I would terrifying. I’d put him more in the realm of slight annoyance. That being said Wolvie and log or spitfire would be some annoying shit to block. My vote would be Wolvie/RR/some good anchor.
A fun team i’ve been using is Dante(crystal)/Vergil(RS)/Raccoon(Log) it’s pretty fun as it has the Yipes synergy backed by the log. In most situations I like to zone and utilize teleports until they let their guard down and get logged, that can usually be confirmed into a combo. When one of the brothers die, I try to get them out and put raccoon in instead, since I am not good enough with RR yet to justify using him as anchor. Then if RR dies, I clean house with lvl 3 Dante or Vergil.
I’m determined to make RR work on point, and so I’ve set him up with Iron Man and Doom. Iron Man gives him some good TAC and THC options and Repulsor Spread is just a solid assist, as a few of you have already stated. The brilliant part, though, is that Doom Missiles gives RR an instant 50/50 from anywhere on screen due to his incredibly fast “teleport”. His c.H and be used simultaneously with the Doom Missiles summon, which helps cover himself and Doom while keeping the opponent locked down from full screen. He can spam c.H until Doom Missiles are about to hit, and then use any of his 3 teleport options to get a free 50/50. Missiles also helps him with catching evasive flyers.
Since you have both Doom and IM, I would give yourself at least 1 beam since his beam > teleport > hi/lo game is so ridiculous. Check out some of SolidPlay’s tech on youtube, he’s put in a ton of work on using RR with Doom beam. Personally, I would say RR(Log)/IM(Beam)/Doom(Missiles) since that allows almost anyone to be on point and still have great assist synergy.
He has some good oki setups with RB, but the setups you can get away with with a beam are just as sick, they just take a little more thought and having the beam makes your neutral game infinitely stronger/scarier. If people don’t know how RR works, they’re gonna lose the match.
