We are the Guardians of the Galaxy - Rocket Raccoon Team Building Thread

I feel like this character plays best controlling horizontal space up close instead of zoning, so I’m gonna try him first with a long range beam assist.
I’ll be using
RR/ Dante (Jam Session)/ Doom (Plasma Beam)

It wont be my main team, but it’ll be my first RR combination
We need to understand the character

Exactly. I have a list of possible partners for him that I am going to try out. I really just want to figure out what his placement on a team is going to be before I make assumptions. Point, Second, Anchor. That kind of choice I feel like is the most important before selecting other characters.

Ghost Rider seems like a good companion. Not only will his Spire eat projectiles and work as a GTFO assist when people get in Rocket Raccoon’s face, but the Log Trap will serve a much needed AAA that Ghost Rider sort of lacks. Plus, Ghost Rider is an awesome battery.

X-23 (Ankle Slice/Neck Slice), RR(Pendulum), Firebrand (Demon Missile (heavy)) / Wesker (Samurai Edge)

X-23 as a battery and reset character, not forgetting some Dirt Nap shenanigans. RR can kind of hold his own and can abuse Demon Missile assist w/ teleports if need be. Firebrand with his tools, bar, and level 3 X-factor sounds pretty amazing.

Got some combo ideas that revolve around bouncing ppl as many times as possible across the screen. Stylish!

You could say that about Task assist too. Just move forward far enough so that he’s offscreen or defend him. Just how assisting is.

I suppose your right about that.

so after hitting the training mode for couple of hours with RR i really love his air mp especially since you can cancel it into his beam gun shots i feel like very chun like with that normal i love the X-factor cancel into jump mp mixups espcially with the correct assist it very annoying. Anyways as for RR assist types im using his beam shots with Captain Americas backflip it creates for very good mix-ups soo far but the game is still young so im very excited for RR strats and combos so any feedback on cap and RR as a soild Duo?

I thought of a Wolverine, RR, and Captain America team. RR should make Berserker slash safe with the log trap (wolvy can also use a wall bounce well). There is a good chance that you can combo in to ROCK AND ROLL!! after fatal claw. THC’s should work well if I ever decide to use them. I’m not sure about Capt’s charging star assist so I’ll probably stick with the shield slash assist.

you should really try the beam shot assist with the Capt’s backflip setups its alot of fun

I’m having trouble finding a third for my team. I’m running Rocket Raccoon/Dante. I’m using Weasel Shot to cover Rocket’s teleport mixups, and going from Rock & Roll to Million Dollars is a good DHC. But I don’t know who to make my third. I’m running Vergil right now just cause, but he’s not really helping Rocket out any. I’m not sure if I should get a dedicated beam assist, or something that locks down. Any suggestions?

I would switch to Jam Session and run any beam you like last.

If any of you feel like running Phoenix teams, Rocket Raccoon compliments her point game very well with the Pendulum assist.

I’m currently fiddling with Raccoon anchoring Hawkeye and Doom.

I might have to drop Doom for Dorm though.
I’ve been using RR/MODOK/Dorm. Dorm is maybe the best anchor in the game at this point, except for Dark Phoenix, but I was hoping to find a good low assist. RR and MODOK have amazing instant overheads, so anyone have a recommended low assist attached to a good anchor?
Wesker’s gun shot should do the trick, he’s a pretty godlike anchor. X-23 and Felicia have low hitting assists too, but I feel they aren’t as effective as Wesker is when it comes to being an anchor.

I think I’ll just stick with Dormammu. Wesker is just so… awkward (This comes from the guy who plays MODOK, haha) and Felicia’s Rolling Buckler is great for Dante, but I don’t find it to be as good for MODOK. Dark Hole locks them down, I guess.

How do you guys feel about Rocket Raccoon and Storm being on a team together? I never really played Storm, so I don’t know what kind of assists would benefit her and if RR would have any synergy at all with her.

I’m having trouble trying to decide if I should play RR on point or Dante. I’m Running Rocky/Dante/Doom right now and I have problem with gaining meter as RR and if Dante’s on Point and Die’s I find it tough getting RR to do anything before he dies. I’m using Jam session and Pendulum assist.

Pendulum and Jam Session is kind of redundant. Jam Session does a far better job of anti-air than the Pendulum, so I’d give Rocky his double shot assist if Doom is using missiles. I’d put Dante on point because his extended combos can build meter really well.

Hey guys, long time since I posted in a strategy discussion thread. I’ve been playing around with RR since launch night too, and I wanted some suggestions/opinions on my current team of Firebrand(Hell Spitfire)/RR(Log trap)/Sent(Drones) in that order.

FB and RR I picked because I really like these characters, and Sentinel because I have no idea who to use as a third; Drones work with just about every build; and I played him in MVC3 like many. So as far as synergy goes my team is still completely new and I have no clue what the end result will be, but so far the downsides:

 • Bad DHCs due to Firebrand on point and his Fire super does not the position the opponent well if you want to try and get multiple hits. Otherwise just use it to OTG then DHC into Rock 'n Roll.

 • No character with 1mil or more HP! (Damn you Sentinel health nerf!)

 • Firebrand and Rocket Raccoon are not one touch kill characters.

The upsides:

 • Both Firebrand and Rocket Raccoon have tonnns of mixups, paired with Sentinel drones and you’ve got great setups.

 • Both Firebrand and Rocket Raccoon are EXTREMELY mobile. In the games I have played online so far, I’ve been able to run away from level 3 xfactor thanks to burrow and flight specials.

 • Somewhat smaller characters make it harder for the opponent to hit (Well, mostly just RR).

So with that said, I wanna touch on one more subject—RR: To point, or not to point? I don’t have enough experience yet with him to assume it would be better, so I was hoping someone here might play him on point and tell me how it goes.
