In a nutshell, when you press mp, then lp immediately afterwards (timing should be practically simultaneous) the game registers:
mp then lp+mp
The mp input gets copied over to the next frame by the lp input.
When the game receives the lp+mp input, it treats it as an mp input, giving priority to the more powerful attack.
The end result is that you get two mp inputs within a frame or so of each other, making tight links easier to hit.
i thought its press lp then mp immediatly after? not the other way around… i could be wrong… so it just increases your chances of the link?.. im guessing i could do it for c.lk,c.lp,c.mp (c.lp ~c.mp) as well?
If you intend to make another video, dont forget to mention that the demon flip kick makes crouching opponents stand up, which gives you the opportunity to land combos. That doesnt happen with a regular jump-in.
See this, what a great learning experience here. Something else I had no idea about. Thanks for the info! Making an enhanced version, just finished adding/editing information in my narration and will be adding visual inputs on screen. Should be up tomorrow. I’ll re-post here.
so when you do the HK(f), c.LP~MP -> LK Tatsu, that means you get two c.LP inputs? one with the .mp… but if you were to do c.mp~c.hp then you would get the two c.mp’s… so why not just do that?
The LP is easier to link, has better range, and won’t push your opponent back as far. LK has even better range than LP. If you’re at the tip of range with c.MP you will push your opponent too far back to do for instance an LK Tatsu into BnB.
oh ok thanks! another question, for you fadc gurus… do you use square or octo gate? im using octo gate and it seems like its better then the square for me… but they both do seem pretty equal… the only problem i have is having the red fireball comeout after the fadc… 50% of the time nothing will come out, or ill do a srk instead lol i guess i just need to practice the motion more till i get down the wrist movement.
New version of video is up, this one fixes some errors and adds cool input graphics. Check it.
one question. how quick do you have to demon flip to punish a fireball? alot of times i’ll ex flip as soon as i see the fireball and use the dive kick… but i still trade with ryu/sagat’s shoryus.
Indeed, Gema makes good use of both Akuma’s turtling abilities as well as offense. That Ryu was not bad either, just a couple mistakes. Definitely not as fun a watch as say Momochi but good tactics none the less.
