Id play any american akuma for any amount of money (offline) …
Will be at NEC and most majors ^^
I am aiming to be at final round. Be glad to play you in a set if I make it.
sorry, no idea why i said just sweeps.
his overall ground game was better.
a different approach on the matchup, but he pretty much walked cardell to the corner.
Accepted! Lets have a GG! ^^
If Tokido is the Akuma vortex god then Infiltration is the Akuma footsie god.
I love Infiltration, but his very recent play kind of disappointed me, hope he “recovers”.
Still, I don’t know who’d be the top “footsies” Akuma between him, Momochi and yeah, Umehara if he sticks to the demon (which I hope not for his sake).
Winners quarter finals at European Gaming League London last weekend.

You can find the group matches too, theres a real heartbreaker vs the ryu
Need to add some anti DeeJay tech to your arsenal MBR. Stand forward kick is good against DeeJay, and the corner hard to blockable can win you matches straight out. Plus crossup air fireball stop him from waking up with up kicks.
BTW were you a bit apprehensive in this tourney? Seems you were hesitant and dropped alot of stuff you normally hit.
Nah, I played good imo, I just got suprised by DeeJay.
After the ryu set I had to play problem x so that explains why I wasnt that good in that match.
I also beat andreas who beat me at SVB semi finals.
Well DeeJay is the type you want to zone out for as long as possible, push him to the corner and try to throw him to get the hard to blockable. I think you went in too hard. Unfortunately with Akuma sometimes you just need to be lame. which is hard to do if you’re like me and have an aggressive style.
At least you got your runback with Andreas.
That’s funny like we have a really different approach of the match up.
I prefer play vs DeeJay like vs Guile… I don’t rush him… He has to come…
I use more LP shaku to made it make a mistake like a jump and I punish Jump LK with st.HP.
If I can give you an advise, be more patient vs DeeJay and don’t stay in “middle distance” zone he has everything to punish you.

Bit of amateur play from me.
I’ll be honest, that is terrible advice.
Here is what most Akuma players don’t understand about Deejay. He needs back charge to punish any of your fireballs, but if he throws a fireball he doesn’t have that charge. In addition Deejay has no way to get in on you that you can’t blow up. Deejay’s best way of generating offense is to throw a fireball and follow it in. Again the key is not to let him do this. His jump is so floaty that the only way to jump in on someone is to use the knee drop, but this isn’t hard to anti-air in the absence of lag.
What you do is to throw fireballs when HE throws a fireball or when he doesn’t have charge. If you throw fireballs at the same time it negates the advantage he gains and also there is no way for him to punish you for it. If you throw fireballs after he has recovered or while he is sitting on charge he will punish you for it. If you play a good zoning game Deejay as no choice except to come at you without fireball cover which is greatly in your favor because Deejay has no offense without that cover.
Not to mention close none of Deejay’s specials that he will use to punish you are safe on block. EX Sobat is punishable by sweep and Deejay doesn’t gain anything off of EX Fireball. Overall you control the zoning game, you control the footsie game, and you control the in close game. You don’t even really need the vortex to work (Which admittedly it is hard to pressure Deejay on wake up). Play good spacing and footsies.
In order to zone well against charge characters you need to understand how they use their moves. In general against fireball charge characters you need to understand they recover faster than you, but you can use fireballs at will. So you need to negate the advantage they receive. If you understand when they can and can’t use their moves it will help your zoning game.
Remember chucking fireballs isn’t zoning. Zoning is the correct use of your long distance move set to make your opponent approach you on your terms.
There is nothing wrong with Fuma’s advice. He says to stay patient, zone DeeJay and punish his jumps. It may not be in depth, but it isn’t bad.
I was focusing more on the “Stay away from the middle range” part. IMO you need to live in this range to beat Deejay.
You can beat Deejay long distance, it’s just if you play the zoning game it becomes a war of attrition. I personally prefer to take the initiative but not all players are comfortable in that position.
I think one of the most important things to learn vs DeeJay is how to safe jump him from multiple setups, and if you are not safe jumping then you need to be baiting.
You can, but at some point the Deejay is going to make his move to try to get in if you continuously thwart him at long range and it will force you to play a mid range game where you have to be able to control your fireballs.
I tend to play lame till I get Deejay into a range where I can out footsie him. After getting the knockdown I move in and play more aggressive.
Does the dash, dash MK DF Palm or J. HK safe setup work against DJ? I saw MBR use J.HK safe jump, but the time’s I’ve tried it I either came in too early (thrown) or too late (upkicks out of it). I’ve tried it in practice mode but I can’t get consistant with it. Is it that frame specific or am I doing something wrong here?
It works but it’s 1 frame specific.
Akuma beats Deejay in every range. At full range Deejay has no chance of beating you, but at middle range like what Fuma said, “he has everything to punish you”. That’s true but only if you are very predictable in your zoning, bad at footsies and antiairs. I personally play at middle range against Deejay because that’s how I play all my matches because it’s the only way I find this game to be fun but if I’m losing then I will turtle more and play more safe. If you turtle against deejay you will probably have an easier chance of winning because he has no options from full screen than middle screen. Once he gets close you can just teleport away and use U2 to make it safe.
