We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

Monitors in general don’t upscale images, they would only stretch them. Upscaling/upconverting is done by the hardware of the device sending the images, in this case the 360.

Here are the matches from my recent tournament. These are Winners, Losers, and Grand Finals. I absolutely choked in the winners finals by dropping a million combos. I think that effected my play in losers, but I toughed it out to make it back to grand.

I will say for some reason, I hate playing on CRTs. The timing seems completely different even from a lagless TV.

The idea of it is to set the Xbox output resolution to match that of your screen’s native resolution.

When you match the Xbox ouput to the native resolution of your screen, the screen does not have to rescale the source image to display it itself, which removes the input lag associated with panel rescaling.

The ‘EVO’ monitors do a decent job at rescaling images not native to their resolution as do many TN based LCD panels available now. Regardless, if you’re picky, rescaling lag can be noticeable and this is especially the case on televisions and LCD panels that typically don’t use TN panels.

The short answer to your question is no, it doesn’t add any lag. It actually does a lot in terms of reducing it for the reasons explained. This is among one of the primary reasons I think the PS3 version of SFIV is absolutely terrible in comparison to the Xbox.

Me vs one of the best ryu’s europe has to offer.

Nice matches. That guy is a solid Ryu. Test out using the MP SRK as the combo finisher against Ryu - more damage and stun than the LP and I find it still provides good positioning for follow up pressure. If you give it a shot let me know if it works out better.

Questions… #1 - At the end of the first match, wasn’t that jump back Air FB dangerous? Why not just EX SRK him on wakeup for the sure win?

#2 - 2nd match at around 0:48, was that MK DF kick? That’s what it looked like to me, but I wanted to be sure. I liked how it made him whiff his DP after the reset.

@shinakuma
Although I really despise online lately. I will give it a try.

@Venom
De jumpback FB was the safest option in that situation. EX-srk could be blown up by backdash if not timed right.
After a reset I always use HK df to bait reversals. In the corner I use dive kick as it is usually safe to autocorrect due to the startup.

It’s interesting you say that. Is it because you just got back from a real tourney? I know when I play in a tourney it takes me a couple of weeks to accept online play again, it’s just so inferior and limiting, especially for Akuma.

I am almost to the point where I refuse to play online. I might do it more when AE drops, but I just get tired of the online BS that you don’t have to put up with offline.

True that boys.
It is my game shifted more to footsies lately and I haven’t played online for a few eeks before the tourney.
After the tourney I went on playing online and I got mad salty.
So I thought fuck that.
Now I’m just playing gief online, saving akuma for offline meets.

PS: very funny vid

So, did anyone else see Eita getting mauled by momochi’s 1 week old yun? That was kinda depressing tbh…

Link to the vid? Or actually… No nevermind… Momochi’s Akuma was my favourite, to be sure, but I don’t want to see him destroy Eita’s with Yun! I may not want to purchase AE after seeing that.

I believe this is the video? Fast Forward to the last match.

Shit… I knew I didn’t want to watch that… :frowning:

I am really not liking the chatter about AE. I mean we have seen some powerful characters before, but top level players like Tokido and Gamer Bee are flat out pissed at the twins. I’ve been watching Yun videos the last couple of days and I can say the character seems to have all the benefits and none of the draw backs. Hell it is almost like Yun can reversal without much fear of a large punishment because it recovers too fast.

Ryan Hart take on it was really depressing too.

Usually I look forward to new versions of fighting games, but AE is just sounds worse and worse every day.

Why is everyone pussy’ing up behind the Twins? The matchup is not that bad. There’s always a counter.

A character that almost has no unsafe moves, easy to learn, best super in the game.
Dive kick.
Sick pokes.
Command grab.

QQ

Well, it’s not ALL bad… Let’s take a step back and really analyse this: the worst of this we’re seeing is coming from TOP LEVEL players playing the game offline at the arcades. It all looks easy when peeps like Momochi or Daigo play as Yun, but who’s to say it doesn’t require precise execution to wield them correctly? That would eliminate 80% of the populace online. Of the remaining 20%, maybe less than 10% will already know how to play Yun the right way. Which leaves another 10% that could be considered medium to serious threats online. For offline, yeah, I agree that for those of you that actually have an offline scene they go to, it can look bad, but not everone will be a beast with Yun. It will take some time for some of the good players to get comfortable with him and by that time, who knows… Maybe the matchup turns out to be not so bad.

The more I think about it, the more I’m seeing Akuma having to turtle a lot in this matchup and wait for his chances, slim though they may be at first glance. All out offense seems to play into Yun’s favor it seems. It looks like we’ll have to combine the tactics for Gief and Cammy when playing against him.

I for one will be getting the add-on the minute it’s available on the Marketplace. Then I’ll be looking forward to the replay channels and seeing what some of the better Akuma from this forum can do (MBR, Gamogo, JR and even you LoyalSol).

LOL

“The match ain’t bad like that ya’ll…but I mean…shoot…counter pick if it is!”

Yeah you’re right, but a scrub like Eita probably still hasn’t figured it out after 6 months.

Good thing is I don’t give a damn fuck about how OP yun is. The character is stupid and i’m not gonna lie, I’m gonna use him. Akuma will probably still be my main but i’ll start playing yun (or yang) a lot from today on.
