I ran those setups through training but I could not get them to cross up for me. It kept giving me the ‘fake’ cross up where you land on their cross up side but they can block normally.
Okay so that c.mp setup can just be countered by crouching. YOU CAN still cross him up if he does crouch but its way harder than if he’s standing. all he needs to do is crouch and the df will whiff.
Also another similar setup is to just use a c.mp cancel into lk dive kick. If you position it properly, it will cross up. Its much easier to get the spacing when ryu is standing and its possible to do it when hes crouching too but the spacing is really tight. Its really risky if you whiff.

Are you guys recording these things and actually trying to block them to confirm they cross-up? I’m telling you I recorded more than two dozen different timings and couldn’t get anything to cross me up.
I’ve gotten some stupid results attempting to crossup with the DF dive kick, I’ve recorded some setups that I swear should be a crossup, the blue blockstun thing even shows it’s well behind the character’s head, but when I try to block the setup I still block it normally!

Seven Island always has been best of 5. IIRC, the only time they change it is when they’re doing a tourney that requires it like SBO qualifiers.
I’ve heard top players say they feared Zangitan there because it was so hard to win three matches against his Vanilla Gief. lol
Edit: I guess I watched the second video, and it’s not Seven Islands, but still the best of 5 thing is more arcade specific. I don’t imagine they’ll change it back just because AE isn’t new anymore.
