Rich could you use like a c.mp, c.hk~c.lp frametrap/OS kinda like the c.lk, s.hk~s.lk OS that Tokido uses? Just a thought that came to me.

I think the only reason c.lk, s.hk~s.lk works is because they’re chains, the chained attack (close standing lk) will have priority over the option selected far roundhouse if the opponent didn’t backdash, since cr. mp ain’t chainable I don’t think that OS would work. I could be wrong though so hope Richard confirms this.

You coulddd, but it’s gonna be really weird timing. The cr. lp/lk one works easier because it’s a chain and the timing is nice and easy.

Besides, doing a straight up meaty cr. mp is not gonna be too good of a frame trap because peeps usually tech late.

Yeah, if you do cr. mp to cr. hk + cr. lp, it will not work because of the chaining priority thing like you said.

But you can do cr. mp to cr. hk ~ cr. lp.
I still would not say it to be a necessity to use, but it looks like it still can have its uses.

I was goin off Wests mini write up on how the game pauses for those 10 frames on hit. So I figured it would work in that regard.

Edit: got it work in training funky timing definately.

A 100 freakin game set between Daigo and Tokido that they’ve played in mid September (posted on SpotATrain’s YT channel), supposed to be around 4-5 hours !! I gotta make some time to watch it soon, it’ll be probably be very helpful to learn some stuff about the matchup and how to adapt!

Yeah this will work, its a good idea too. Only bad thing is its not a chain, and can be DPd.

True. But I figured if you were using the c.mp, c.lp frametrap you are already considering that risk.

Thanks for the tips richard :). I agree with you man. It is a bad habit.

Dont worry hehe and thanks ;).

just thought id share this

match up is pretty retarded, gouki advantage 7-3 at best(even tokido supports this, sayin maybe even worse than 7-3, and he has played a lot of top abels — owning them all). i learned a lot from playing tokido, but its pretty easy to get mentally broken fighting his gouki…

anyway this vid was from last month’s ranbat, this month’s just happened yday and i was unfortunate to get to fight him in the very first round and got owned pretty bad(though learned new stuff too – so i guess i can say its a fair enough trade off haha)

enjoy the vid, and fuck this matchup LOL (no harm intended)

Holy hell with them frame-traps…

But still, you have a great Abel

Who was the one who yelled out “Ohhh SHIT!” at the end? I about died from laughter.

just thought I’d share these videos as we had ryan hart here for the day before Dreamhack so we took the chance to have our ranbat at the same time. So here are two videos with me against Ryan Hart.

( winners finals I believe)

( Grand finals)

I don’t really need pointers as I know what i did wrong etc etc, just wanted to share it.

richard, the jump.mk version of your unblock is the one to use now right?

it only gets 7-3 when you NEVER block on wakeup…just like you did.

this match is in abels favor

it was much easier in vanilla. then we got nerf on demon flip grab. one move turned the matchup around. lol

Plus the loop is gone which is pretty huge vs Abel.

easier said than done. i admit i ate a lot of demon palm in that one specific video, i made the wrong call plus i was expecting him to mix up and do demon throw instead… and earlier in casuals he kinda abused the throw more so it affected my gameplay later.

but yeah, i know how to deal with meaty demon palm now. still its a guessing game and with gouki OS, its mostly win-win-draw for him.

again, blocking against alot of gouki ambiguous shit is easier said than done, especially with abel having huge hitbox and all.

i can tolerate people saying its not 7-3 in goukis favor but callin this in abels favor is straight up retarded.

sure i might not be good enough and fight one of the best player in the world, but yeah i did discuss this matchup in detail with tokido later and after all is said and done. this really seems like 7-3 to me, or 6-4 if somehow i can play extra solid and make the right call on wakeup.

I’ve heard the match to be 5-5, don’t put any value in my opinion though.
