Your Akuma is amazing Richard. GREAT JOB! Keep up the great work.
I’m inspired to take my play to a higher level.

I agree superlollo, richard u did a great job!!!
I caught a couple of your matches, Richard - good stuff! I was rooting for you all the way!
A close loss to Gamerbee is not too humbling either.
Yeah awesome work Richard. Going 2-1 with Gamerbee is a really good result.
Thank you, guys! :china:
Man, I was actually practicing up against Adon the day before and oh man, is it harder than I initially though. You totally have to adjust to the wakeup timing. Like this has obviously been said before, but I really have to emphasize it. If you stick with the timing for other characters, Adon’s forward dash is a total get-out-of-jail-free card. Later in the match, I then was doing option select sweep to catch this, but I honestly don’t think it punished him; I think he just didn’t block them. So yeah.
And when I did adjust the timing, I was really unsure about myself so I didn’t do good mixups. And failing tatsu to sweep really hurt me also! Ffuuuuuuuuuuu.
And holy crap, GamerBee is sooooooo good with jaguar kicks. They are so random and off beat that I couldn’t react with a dp or cr. mk xx U1. If you play against him, you will know what I mean. They are like literally un-reactable.
And in the U2 thread, I said U2 was good against Adon but I changed my mind during more practice mode. But I am seriously gonna test so much more against Adon now. U2 can be good but hmmmmmmmmmmm. I definitely did not do enough homework for this matchup.
But, oh well! I ended up going 7-2 beating players such as Noel Brown’s Vega and Rufus and The Butler’s Dhalsim. I think I tied for 17th place for this tourney. I am pretty proud with my performance because this is honestly the first major tourney where I had a good run in. So, thanks again guys for the support and off to training mode for me!
Oh and nice meeting you SoCalBadboy! Good talking with you. :bgrin:
Hey good stuff at SCR Richard. You’ve got to be one of the best Akumas in the US. You’re on my list of Akumas to watch now.
Yeah man awesome. Sad that I missed your games. But did gamerbee pick U1? Cause U2 still makes your teleports safe and against someone like gamerbee, I know I’d be mashing teleport on most wakeups.
Just wanted to pop in and say that was a great performance by Richard Nguyen on the SCR stream. Against Gamerbee, there were several moments where I thought there was no way Richard would be able to pull off a comeback, but he took it right down to the end.
It’s too bad that it seems that Adon basically can’t be reaction AA demoned out of Jag kick / air Jag kick. And I liked how you did a st.hk once, then like four more times in a row once you saw Gamerbee just sitting there and blocking it.
Where can I watch this match, please?
It was on the stream, but maybe someone recorded it and will upload it on youtube
GamerBee was using U1. And I actually was testing out to see if U2 can make my teleport safe, and it actually does not in some cases! Like if I teleport and he activates his U1 and then I cancel into U2, Adon can actually hold back so Akuma’s U2 will whiff and then Adon still gets hit full ultra.
But I am actually leaning towards using U2 now. Hmmm, more to test.
I was actually doing this because GamerBee actually focus absorbed the first hit of the st. hk and then dashed under the second hit and punished me. So, I was trying to bait him to do this again so I can do st. hk xx U1. Smartly, he didn’t do it though. Probably heard my buttons lol!
SCR Day 1 3pm to 5pm, SCR Day 1 3pm to 5pm leveluplive on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment
The match starts at 1:36:39 here. But I’m not getting any audio in this video. Are you guys?
It’s also lagging like crazy. Am I the only one getting this? But i actually guess this is okay since I get to analyze the match in slow motion.
Nevermind! It’s working perfectly for me now.
Okay so I found the 3 of my 9 matches that were streamed:
SCR 1pm to 3pm, SCR 1pm to 3pm leveluplive on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment
-My 1st round winners match vs Xie’s Ryu. Starts at 00:08:30.
-My 2nd round winners match vs DaggerG’s Guile. Starts at 1:10:00.
SCR Day 1 3pm to 5pm, SCR Day 1 3pm to 5pm leveluplive on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment
-My 9th match in losers bracket vs GamerBee’s Adon. Starts at 1:36:39.
Kinda sad that some of my other matches weren’t streamed. :[ I did some cool stuff like teleport xx U2 against a Balrog lp dash punch in the final round for the win. And just some good matches with Noel Brown and Butler. Oh well haha.
All I saw was your match with DaggerG, good shit for bouncing back and making it that far. I feel your pain on the Adon matchup, it looks like it should be so easy to punish the jaguar kicks but theyre so quick.
OMG dude I just watched your game with the Bee. Right down to the last round and you played amazing. What were your nerves like, cause you made a couple game winning mistakes in the second, though you still came back with it.
Also wow far hk pressure isn’t free on Adon. Honda and Sakura can focus under it, but man GAMERBEE can fadc through it to make the second hit whiff, that was amazing. Also I don’t know how that first demon landed, did you maybe do it so late that he had already pressed grab/jab?
You sure you tested out the best knockdown options he can use? when I watched the match on the stream, I felt the one thing that stopped you from winning was not knowing what to do on the knockdown (unlike the hailstorm of punishment you rained on Dagger G). You would have beat him IMO if you could have converted just a few more. My thought coming out of seeing that match was “the Akuma forum need to find some setups for Adon until AE lands”.
Damn Richard! I wish I could be more sympathetic to your plight in this tourney, but the only thing that made me wince hard was when the announcers kept butchering your name… :shake:

Didn’t see this one posted yet.
Thought this was sort of interesting because I noticed the use of LP.SRKs to end combos. This was something I was experimenting with because in a sense you can still get some wake up pressure off of a LP.SRK compared to a HP.SRK. It is an interesting option against those characters that you can’t sweep after tatsu.
That and Wong was taunted a few million times.
The setups Tokido finds are just amazing. With that said, hes definitely leveled up since EVO IMO.
Ffffuuuu, I just found an unblockable setup against Ryu. And I got an option select with it to cover all of his options. It’s guaranteed damage no matter what.
However, I’mma keep this hidden for the time being. As well as test it on other characters and such.
How you gonna play us like that, Richard “Trollface” Nguyen!
