We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

I still like what U1 provides. Most notable is the ability to cancel normals into the ultra. It protects against a lot of ultras on block.

I think he meant that ultra vs akuma.

I quite like it in the matchup (as I’ve been talking about Eita’s setups for months) but when I pick it I sometimes feel like I lose some demon opportunities. Better anti air, safe sweeps if you can react. Fun demon gimmicks.

Its fast becoming my Ultra of choice. I made the switch to it after I began consistently comboing into it as it gives a nice damage boost for what would otherwise be a BnB for me. I still use U1 for it’s obvious applications and where U2 doesn’t work - i.e. against Blanka and Honda, etc.

This coming from someone who initially dubbed it a bit fickle too

Daigo vs Tokido
TO-ogUJC4Lg]YouTube - [15/9/10
The Third Round was really entertaining to watch. Goooood shit!

My dude Tokido got blown up 63-37. If you round that off, it fits the match up chart saying Ryu beats Akuma 6-4. I don’t believe it still! Daigo just a monster in sets.

I wanna see Momochi vs Daigo next.

I think he did pretty good, considering he was playing against the best SF player in the world.

I don´t think Momochi could do any better, actually I don´t even think he could be on par with Tokido against Daigo. Specially now that he started playing Ibuki and Ken.

Momochi would have done better. We have seen sets with him and Daigo before and he’s won them. His style of play works better in that matchup than Tokido’s.

hey everyone im a VEGA player & i like the to play best akuma’s out there !!

i just uploaded some videos for the 1st time in 3 months & one of the videos i play against your akuma own ( Jr Rodriguez ) aka the MASTER of the DEMON :badboy:

good video your thoughts and comments will be appreciated , subcribe to my channel if u wanna keep in contact enjoy the video.

-1:49 & 2:03, if an Akuma does a normal canceled into demon flip, jump up and air throw him. Or you can just do a jumping fierce/roundhouse if you’re lazy or whatever. But just don’t let anyone do this to you ever. It’s always punishable.

-1:50-1:54, I expected you to kara throw here. If you have Akuma in the corner, cr. lp and kara throws are your basic pressure tools. If he teleports out, I’m pretty sure you can walk forward and slide it.

-2:22, a nifty thing to do after a wall grab dive is to do that flip kick to gain meter and then hold down back. If the Akuma wake up teleports, you can do an EX wall dive to catch it. This gives the same knockdown and you can now just do that same trick or kara grab. It’ll make the Akuma think twice about abusing his teleport.

-2:43, I don’t see any reason why to FADC back that roll.

I recommend watching:

Two matches where the matchup is played really well by both players.

I lol’d pretty hard at the triple cross-up tatsus.

As a Ryu player, I agree with you. Even though Tokido lost by quite a bit, he still made the match up look like it’s slightly in Akuma’s favor if that’s somehow possible. Daigo had to play so patient because Akuma’s options made it nearly impossible for Daigo to play any type of rushdown. He practically got free jump-ins all day from instant air fireballs, even the threat of it made Daigo not go for anti-airs a lot when he could have. In footsie range, he had to deal with Akuma’s superior walk speed and then the vortex when getting knocked down.

When Daigo scored a knockdown he either had to leave Tokido alone or option select tatsu in the wrong direction 95% of the time. So Tokido was landing BnB combos all day while Daigo was getting most of his damage from very simple combos like cr. MK hado/Tatsu or just landing one normal/special, a lot of which came off punishes and good guesses.

After watching Tokido use and abuse all of Akuma’s options, I don’t think any other Ryu player in this world would have been able to win this best of 100 like Daigo just did.

thanxs for your thought bro i appreciate it :)… & yea i got MIND STUCK alocuple times whn he did the demon flip when i coulda grabb him in the air your right & da kara throw at 1:50-1:54 , got kinda nervous when i play known players so i do get MIND STUCK but it dodnt hurt me overall… & at 2:43- i do this because i get my opponents most of the time to throw out somthing & thats when i catch em wit my COSMIC HEEL into Scarlett Terror…

Quick question for Akuma players from a non-tournament level, online only Adon player:

I tend to have trouble dealing with Akuma’s double roundhouse pressure, like at parts in .

Am I focusing the wrong hit?
Should I be backdashing more to get away?
Maybe try a ducking jab after the two hits?
Should I just block til the pressure is off?

Any critique/advice is appreciated.

Adon has probably the hardest time in the game with Akuma’s RH. I find myself loling at how often I connect both hits even from a far distance. The best thing to do is block. After the second hit connects on block, you are both at even frames. So if you both push a normal after it, whoever’s normal is faster will win. Adon can focus the first hit of the RH and dash FORWARD under the second hit but I don’t recommend it.

The best thing to do is just play better footsies. Your far RH has better range so if you get a good feeling the Akuma is about to RH, tag him first.

Ahhh, so just blocking both attacks should help eh? Thanks man, much appreciated!

funny i have trouble with Adons (IA) Jaguar Kick pressure, it just seems to beat everything i do.

nice, but what was with not teleporting through the ultra at the end???

Momochi maining Ken over Akuma in Super makes me cry.
