Abel is one of the few characters that can’t walk forward if you get a knockdown and DF behind his head in the corner. What people also tend to do is stand tech DF mix ups just incase you empty palmed late or whatever.
If Tokido timed the jab and DFK perfect then Abel cannot walk forward and so he probally got hit by blocking as crossup.
If Tokido timed the jab and DFK wrong and the Abel tried to throw Akuma on landing time then he got hit by pressing throw.
The only reason you’re getting it to whiff is because you’re not timing the jab or DF after the jab properly.
I am now going to combine as many fights as I can into the new YT 15 minute limit. This means that if I have multiple matches you can view one after another without having to sift through a bunch of different videos. Also added a win counter and some transitions.
To be honest, I shoulda started doing all this fancy stuff with a better set, but w/e. We were both pretty ass in these matches but here ya go

yeah the Akuma mirror kinda sucks…it gets sooooo random at times, even though the better player usually wins it’s by no means guaranteed.
Getting a camera next week, gonna post a few replays soon. I see close to zero footsies in most matches I see by forum members…why that? I thought the U.S. was famous for footsies…i see too many jump ins and predictable demon flips
It seems that my play style is dictated by who I am fighting against. If I’m playing Shin, or VeNOM or the like, I try to be on point and play by the book, where as if I’m playing someone who is rough around the edges I tend to loosen up and not play to win as much (ala, get sloppy and not care)
I was not referring (sp?) to you in particular, it was just something I noticed from most if not all the players on this forum (shin is an exception since he seems to have a solid ground game).
Even good players like Loyal or West don’t play much footsies if any at all. Akuma is like the fastest character in the game and has a godlike sweep, I don’t think he should be jumping and flipping so much. Here in italy among top players it’s not uncommon AT ALL to see matches where no one EVER jumps if not on opponent’s wakeup…any jump means eating a shoryuken (or AA ultra in akuma’s case) 90% of the times.
Obviously when playing someone who’s not that good or who doesn’t know how to AA properly that might not be a problem and you might even have an easier time by not doing any footsies and just going crazy with mixups since they probably won’t understand shit of what’s happening on the screen.
Yeah definitely. That’s what I call a good match and that’s what I like to watch when looking for Akuma videos. A few too many fucked up combos but that was probably due to tournament tension, happens all the time.
